Poll for past/or infrequent players only

There will be one to cover the current more active members, so pick one and try not to vote in both.

I'd say an infrequent player would be someone who plays once a week or less.

Past player is some who use to play but now chooses not to.

I'm just wondering how, if possible, it would be to entice past players to play more.

can admins modify polls? if so, can you please add an option in both of my polls to select if you are a past/current player, so you can vote to see the results but not effect the voting.

for example, an extra option in this one to select that you are a current player.

Somehow or someway induce some of the old regulars to come back to the game!

I still play at least 4-5 nights a week but depending on what players are on, determines how long I stay

My interest in PR would rise again if they moved off the BF2 engine and away from its limitations. Again as I have mentioned before it's not the graphics, physics or anything like that its the little things that root my boot. Example running down stairs = bleed to death. Not being able to fluidly navigate over a one inch rise in height or even being able to walk up a reasonable steep embankment.

These sort of things might be overcome in the ARMA 2 realise or maybe not can't know until I try.

Personally, I'd like to see the Dev's have some of the Older Version maps brought back, Like Ghost train, and have them included as regular server maps rather than just a Single player addon. That, or Have the Christmas maps included as Regulars. The Insurgency in the snow map was damned well made.

For some reason the Yanks love hearing about that one time...

Yes we can edit polls, but we can't do what I think you are asking us to do. I can edit the poll to add more options. But I can't edit the poll to make it a multiple choice or make it a open poll (i.e; allow people to see who voted what - public).

Personally 'better map' is a purely subjective opinion and wonder what the point of asking this question is - i.e; what exactly will you learn from it? The same could be said for the other questions so your analysis of the results will be interesting.

+1

i thinks we be wearing the same shoes Vis... i love PR but i think the devs have stretched the bf2 engine to its limits and its those smaller things that now bug me too when playing. I for one cant wait to see how PR meshes into the Arma2 engine.

Plus I have Real Life getting in the way to come back and play the amount i use to. :( i miss the days when nearly every night i was on... ah simplier times, good times!

The poll is okay, i just didnt see the view poll results button for those that havent voted in this particular poll.

Better map in ones opinion is why people choose to join the server or not. More maps they like they join. I think you saying that some people like some maps more than others so the numbers are skewed. I guess it can only be associated with the more popular and more hated maps. There are a lot of in between maps for sure.

If it was the highest result, id figure a favourites map vote would see if more players came to the servers more regularly or not.

As much as I love insurgency, good old Bluefor vs Opfor isn't bad either.

Perhaps bringing back the old vehicle combat?

Time to rise to the occasion

An all of the above would be nice :p

But like everything else in my life, I'll just blame it on the HSC.

RL Duties.

Oh and this.

:wine:

Which go pretty much hand in hand during an engineering course.

Personally for me, It's just I played it so much it got old for me.. I've played like 4 rounds of PR in the past 3 months and most of those where in one night. It's still the same game no matter how much gets added each patch ( which is less because its basically almost changed as much as they can because the engine ). I could see myself playing if I had nothing else to do, but I've got RL to get in order and alot of other games to play I just don't feel excited to play PR because like above its old for me. I've had my fun and enjoyment out of it. If I was to comment on what it was like when I've played it, it was probably more fun than it use to be, but Like has been said, it wasn't a server full of regulars and people that all know each other so it just wasn't as fun in that respect.

Edit: Voted RL duties because there is no it got old option :p

I'm very on/off with PR lately. Some nights I will play for 2-3 hours and then not play for a week.

For me it's all about the teamwork, the ''RL'' duties and "bad" maps don't bother me at all so long as the team works there. At the moment... pub matches are more of a slaughter feast where I can hone my noob slaying skills

and there are no shortages of them as of late, hence the ridiculous KDR's I've been seeing.

I'm just looking forward to the 10v10's.

I remember my first night playing Pr and just thought this is it, this is the game I've been waiting for.

RL mainly but if I had to find a reason related to PR itself, I'd completely agree with Albatross in particular about repeats of Insurgency modes.

On the topic of shiny auscam...

the sound they made while bush walking made it seem like I was doing mean things to little furry animals inside my pants :p
Real life duties are the PR killer for me; Studying full time.

Real Life for me! Teh ultimate reality...but i still sniff around..

That said, i think PR is just in a change period. Its old man. It still provides a pretty unique position, and will hopefully be awesome in its future guises. My main concern is Big D and keeping this place rolling. This is a cool established community, people come and go, but BigD has its place in the world, thats for sure.

When BF3 comes out, we should try and make sure we play together, hell, may even run a server? Because we are all going to get BF3 right?

But honestly, i liked PR more when it was a real shooter. Still needs to be fun. Random deviation changed it for me.

R/L for me, and the fact i still haven't got internet capable of playing anything online.

Personally, I had more fun playing maps which tended more to an infantry style, with supporting light vehicles. I hate tanks, APC's, Attack Helo's, etc etc.

But thats just becuase i like being a grunt, and enjoy a mean firefight and trying to out maneuver an enemy, rather than having a tank or apc provide massive firepower to keep an enemy holed up while the inf just strolls in

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11384234/Sigs/noraa.png

Save your breath. You'll need it to blow up your date.

Deviation eventually killed PR for me. A game that has hitreg as bad as BF2 can't have a massive cone of fire slapped on top and expect it to be an enjoyable shooting experience.

Along the way other things contributed, but it was always going to be deviation/rego that sapped my will to play it regularly.

.7-.95 just confirmed that the project had stopped being about reality, and had just become a shooter with a slightly non-standard design philosophy.

I am of the opinion that some of the older maps and modes were more conducive to teamwork and hence my enjoyment factor was higher

But that said its a combination of all the poll things that leads me to invest my time in other activities lately

Vote RL myself as that is the number one factor. Other factors being that I just dont have the time to put 2+hours into computer games anymore (and if i DO get the time, I'll play Arma2), at most i can prolly get about 30mins to an hour in which case I'll play a game where I'm not wandering around looking for someone to shoot.

Second big factor for me anyways was being in the West, by the time I'm able to play any games online most of the other guys i use to play with are all in bed leaving maybe one or two online. That was a big problem i found with being able to join in scrimming, i think i maybe managed one or two games and the second was interrupted by the youngest having an attack of "esplodin nappy", other than that i just couldn't get online in the time frame as my earliest time i could was around 10:30-11pm eastern time.

[edit] - that time was also 'best case' time, frequently it would be a lot later .

RL duties and the fact that I'm kind of over the whole BF2 thing. When PR is standalone ill be back

yeah but this is the internet' date=' you have to expect the unexpected or else you'll get caught out by things you should've expected but didn't. Its exactly like knowing about the stuff you dont know about, that way you know theres stuff you dont know so when you know what you dont know you can say "ah i knew that!"[/quote']
