Ok... I know i have to dress decently because it is a job interview and all...but i don't exactly have fancy clothing or anything along the lines of that. What should i wear?

 

I would rather help from someone who has had an interview with the army before, but all help is appreciated!!!!

I haven't had an interview with the army before but usually for all jobs you just dress smart.. some nice pants (clean jeans if you must) and a collared shirt go well.. Try and get a good pair of shoes as well..

Tidy but casual FTW.

 

You wanna look like someone that will fit in..

 

Same for all Job interviews I guess.

Mate just completed all my application process so..

 

First You session - wear anything decent.

Assesment day - Suit and Tie (this is the minimum and you would have been told this)

if you have left it to the last minute like i did and wasnt able to get mates to help out... then very smart pants shoes and long sleeve shirt, Tie if you can.

tips.. mate as much as they talk this interview up to be the hardest thing in the world. all you have to worry about it making the Officer at the Main job interview happy, dony worry if you dont have all the answers but try and elaborate on one answer for ages.. and you will be fine..

 

Drink a normal amount of water as you will have a Urine test (that they dont tell you about) straight away when you get there so they can cull the druggo dropouts lol !!

 

Hearing, visual test then make sure you have clean undies and a cleans cheese free package as the medical NURSE will ask you to get naked and do sum moves.. also check your butt crack and make you pull your forskin back.. thats just after she feels your nuts and has a prod around ur groin... as bad as you think it is.. man your professionalism kicks in and its all good...

 

Phyc analysis test,. she will go through your school life, bullying, parents, school results, aspirations in life... movitations.. she is the only one that made me a lil neverous man...

Don't be one of them.

 

Wear some suit pants or nice jeans with a tidy shirt. Shave, and comb/tidy your hair. In fact, prepare for PM

hahaha YOU day WTF is that? Back in my day going through my application it was called the JOES Day. Mate just dress nice but not to nice like if you were to take the mrs out to a nice restaurant

General entry or commision ?

either neat not so casual for one or longsleave shirt tie pants and dress shoes for the other.

Grunt: Smart casual is fine mate. A good pair of jeans and a colared shirt will do.

 

Officer: Shirt, tie and suit.

good luck man, just be cool, calm and relaxed. Rock up talk to the interviewer like you would anyone else remember (presuming you are nice about it )they are just another person and interviewers like people who treat them like normal.

 

Interviewers from the army may look intimidating (i know i've been interviewed by one) but they are the same as everyone else (except they probably know how to kill you with their shoe

Don't even get me started on the bloody psychological analysis. My honest opinion of a single one hour session being an appropirate and sound indicator of someone's character and mental state is what a joke. However that said if your not a complete nutter and not applying for a leadership position then it seems your pretty much clear to walk though without any problems.

 

Anyway my negativity towards psychological analysis aside hope it goes well and don't be surprised if your there ALL DAY! It happens and don't rage quit just because someone who came 3 hours later then you goes in first that is just how it works go figure.

When I joined in 1994 we had a guy who was rocking on the couch...complete nutter...when he went in for his psych assesment, he was soon heard screaming "I JUST WANT TO KILL S^%T, I WANNA STAB EM AND SHOOT SOMEONE"

 

He marched into Kapooka as I marched out to head for singleton...yarp he got in.

lol lil ol benny boy is starting his military journy aye? about bloody time u slacker haha. dont worry mate, the You's day is a peice of cake. just be polite, charming and well dressed (nothing over the top lol, if you HAVE to wear a suit save it for when you leave for kapooka lol. only like 2 guys in my 100 person group who arived were wearing suits) untill then just slacks a colared shirt does just fine, with some clean shoes and belt , tad late i know lol...

That is utter bollocks. I started at 7am got into my medical around 8am then waited ages till I got into my psychological analysis spent about 2 hours with her. Because I had to do a written test as well as a session. Went back into the lobby for about 15mins and was called back in and told I would not be advancing because she believed I have anxiety attacks and I'm to introverted for the Army. Left the building and it was seriously 2:30pm and if I had gotten through I would have then had to attend that day for my Army review board. Plus come back for another session with the officer review board.

 

I am really curious to see what there actual system is they use for all this. It seems a little strange at best almost like cattle yard in Brisbane. Because your on the same level as a number of meeting rooms & offices and there are always ADF NCO's and officers moving through the foyers eyeing you down and they stop and ask questions and make the usual into departmental jokes like "Mate the Airforce is better I have to do maybe 1/3 of ironing you Army jokers will have to" its all very bloody annoying. Would much rather they just have multiple waiting rooms and you move along after each exam instead of returning and waiting again.

lol osrry you had a bad experience, had a few drams with my Criminal history but all looking good atm.

 

No crazy officers said boo to me on the day, it was a good day and i have no bad things to say, the building is home to the ADFR and ADFE so there would be heaps of NCO getting round..
