Posted June 16, 200915 yr According to German news website Chip Online, ministers of the interior representing each of the sixteen German federal states decided at a recent conference that they would ban the production and distribution of all video games "where the main part is to realistically play the killing of people or other cruel or unhuman acts of violence against humans or manlike characters." Full Article here: http://games.on.net/article/6268/Germany_to_ban_all_violent_video_games As they say, Australia doesn't have an R18+ classification for games but it could be worse I suppose. Pretty ludicrous if you ask me, and I bet $100 that they are not even going to try to censor other forms of media that easily depict much much more graphic violence like TV and film.
June 16, 200915 yr It won't happen. That is just ridiculous. The video game industry is too large! [sIGPIC]C:\Users\Alex\Pictures\Forum Avatars\RealityMod\SuperHind-BigD.jpg[/sIGPIC]
June 16, 200915 yr That's a big task. I doubt it would be as complete as they make out. Here is a list of particularly awesome things: dogs sniping very spicy chilli cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)
June 16, 200915 yr I support it. Only with a age limit of 18 and above, no child nor teenager should have access to these types of media. Edited June 16, 200915 yr by stewsta http://www.bigd.com.au/_bigdfiles/sigs/mh-sig-2016-11.png
June 16, 200915 yr It's not the governments job to be mom and dad. If some kid mows down a high school look no farther than the parents if for no other reason than the little bastard knows how do get into all daddies toys...... I don't remember kids doing this when I was young and we had violent stuff in the 80's and early 90's. Just start enforcing it like alcohol, except like here that is. The government is getting silly with my Bundy prices!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. June 16, 200915 yr yeah , sometimes i wonder why politicians put nonsense policies/laws and believe in the false logic of "Video games corrupt children". We all know oblivious FLAW in that logic and yet they still persist [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC][WC]Private http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6780/blackmagikzwc.png "A tank is like a fat timid kid at a dance party , always too shay to get into the action and ask a girl to dance with him and always backs down after every approach" -Some Marine Capitan i forgot- Iwo Jima

June 18, 200915 yr Germany has a pretty good reason to not want to allow these "games" into the general populace. It is not the first nor the last of these types of laws in Germany either. If you have ever been there, you will notice full well that they have a huge problem with what has happened in the past, and they are somewhat stuck with how to actually keep dealing with it. You can only say sorry so many times, and put up so many memorials before you still find that it is never going to be enough to fix what has happened. So they take the approach of prevention rather than cure. In Germany it is illegal to give some on the ol' "up Yours Salute" simply because it is offensive and violates someone else when you do it. Not to say people ignore this though...Especially the Irish over the lol. But Germany is a place where they have had a somewhat turbulent past, and have known oppression, and to be oppressive. They have lived on both sides of the fence, and they now just find it easier to make laws which prevent numbskull behaviour, and if that means stopping a video game where the main objective is to only harm someone else, then they will go ahead and do it. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr134/KindrosAU/Picture143.jpg Even over 60 years later...There is still nothing more than a board sticking up to say what was there. http://users.on.net/~mperrin/images/les_mis_kindros.png You're all wrong, and I am always right, and the sooner you accept it, the happier you will be. Berlin is still all shot up. There are bullet marks on every old monument in the city. You can even see the flow of battle where the corners of monuments and old buildings facing outside of the city centre are chewed up with machinegun fire. The other side has random single shot marks where some Germans popped off a quick one in their mad dash to escape the Red Army. Funny place really but in regards to what Kindros said, I don't really blame them. Hey Kindros, it's kind of appropriate that the last place Hitler was alive is a spot where people take their dogs to crap. Of course as they are Europeans, they leave it there too, so it's a parking lot and a patch of grass with dog **** all over it.. That sign is new though, wasn't even there when I was in Berlin. They should take it down, no one should know where it is. You don't want it turned into some Neo Nazi memorial at all! Good riddance to that prick. June 18, 200915 yr Yeah it was only put up 2 years ago apparently, more to grasp peoples reactions to it. When I was talking to Edo (The guide from Amsterdam who is a German History Major, got to love the Dutch!), he says that there are still many Germans who don't actually know what the site is. The Government apparently doesn't want the site turning into a memorial to the big "AH". Quite understandable if you have even seen those neo's running about Europe "protesting" their socialist views, quite an eye opener. http://users.on.net/~mperrin/images/les_mis_kindros.png You're all wrong, and I am always right, and the sooner you accept it, the happier you will be. June 18, 200915 yr How ironic coming from the Germans. I wonder what video games they think Hitler played?
June 18, 200915 yr Kindros is on the right path. I believe Japan is in the same bag as Germany as well? Call sign: 'GLORIA' Me: Boss, So you're dead dead down dead? Buzzsnr: Yes, I'm down down dead down. Dead.
June 18, 200915 yr To a lesser extent. Japans involvement is usually seen more as an opportunistic one than a diabolically evil one. Plus two of their major cities have lived through the closest thing to the Apocalypse that humans have seen. Here is a list of particularly awesome things: dogs sniping very spicy chilli cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)
June 18, 200915 yr Kindros is on the right path. I believe Japan is in the same bag as Germany as well? Not even remotely. June 18, 200915 yr The Germans really need to move on and stop it with all the guilt trip stuff. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp
June 18, 200915 yr Author I feel a thread lock coming on... My point was that censorship is bad, not that WWII was bad.
