Posted April 15, 200916 yr just realised there hadn't been a community skirmish in a while.... admins just been busy? or was it cause of people bitching the increase in game quality was negligible on a community night? Good Conduct http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/goodconduct.bmp
April 15, 200916 yr I'm trying to sort something out but haven't gotten around to start anything....probably need to talk to an admin about it. Hopefully in the next week or so. Noddy´s Awesomeness = HAPPY GEK http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm127/vandal1313/Disobidience-small.jpg
April 15, 200916 yr There has been no BigD Community Skirmish's this month. There are several reasons. Nothing major tho. If the community wants it, it can be arranged.
April 15, 200916 yr Give me a week or two guys I will be on holidays and I will organise a few nights. Obviously anyone can organise a night as long as they are willing to look after the details and ensure they have the admin team on board. However there are some basic ground rules keep your nights simple and no shenanigans knife fights and the such are forbidden! Finally make sure you book the a server and have an admin with BF2CC access attending to set up the server. Otherwise you will look a little silly. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
April 15, 200916 yr I want community nights, for what it's worth :yahoo: http://www.clan-tea.com/sigs/2011/Rec0n3.png
April 15, 200916 yr Just to get you all a heads up Evilrooter and myself have something on the go for a couple weeks from now. Its needs a little more work but it should be a little special and its something we haven't really done before. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
April 15, 200916 yr is it free candy for everyone? (o: There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.
April 15, 200916 yr No its got to do with the upcoming BigD PR 10 vs 10 ladder and is aimed at Clans & Mercs. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
April 15, 200916 yr theres free candy in my van  http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2111/shotgunreal.pnghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/lol.bmp Love you long time gunner <3 I like to wait till im nearly done, then pull out and yell "COVERING FIRE!!!" Ahhh. Im so glad I have a GF and she doesnt read these forums...
April 15, 200916 yr theres free candy in my van  You are a bad bad BAD man sir... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] http://i793.photobucket.com/albums/yy213/Frenzal/ANZ.png
April 15, 200916 yr knife fights while waiting are part of what makes things fun... PR has the long game pre-start to get everyone squaded and sorted. Is there a reason and or rule regarding this? Obviously l'm not talking about during live rounds here. The reason l ask is while playing the other day we got the squad bug, meaning server restart was ordered, and was told absolutely no knife fighting while we waited, even though the round was dead.. What gives there? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
April 15, 200916 yr Might be because a random person might join and when the server does restart they could think its OK to have a TK knifing spree? And it can get annoying if someone keeps knifing you even if the round IS dead http://i.imgur.com/zoL1k.png
April 15, 200916 yr Is there a reason and or rule regarding this? Obviously l'm not talking about during live rounds here. The reason l ask is while playing the other day we got the squad bug, meaning server restart was ordered, and was told absolutely no knife fighting while we waited, even though the round was dead.. What gives there? I will say the same thing I said on that particular occasion this is a serious server for a serious mod. As clearly stated in the second paragraph of the rules page It is recognised by the Administration team that the majority of Australian and New Zealand Project Reality players are mature and team orientated gamers, and as such it is a prerequisite that all gamers that use this server uphold themselves in a mature and becoming fashion. Their is nothing mature or becoming about knife fights. They are unrealistic and while the knife/ bayonet/zip ties/handcuffs serves a distinct purpose in the game they were not put there for people to mess around with. Further more the PR development team has stated before that it takes great offence to people and servers abusing the mod. Its why you have to SIGN A LEGAL DOCUMENT when you apply for the server files in first the place. It purely and simply looks poorly upon the PR development team and the BigD/GSA administration to let players completely ignore the ethos of the mod in this way. People have being warned/kicked & banned before for declaring knives fights and especially for having them in extremely inappropriate places. That said yes its fun to have knife fights especially if they are unintentional. I know I have run into players with the like idea of pulling their knife when they are out gunned or wary of their ability to use the weapons in PR up close. This is simply a dynamic part of the game which the admin team does not seek to control. If you really need to get your knife fight fix then their are servers, mods and games which cater specifically to your needs find one of them and stab stab stab till your heart is content. I hope that helps you to understand why we take the position we do on this particular issue. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
April 15, 200916 yr the random person would have to be blind not to read all the chat that goes on though. I'm not talking about a mass TK session here, if you don't wanna knife fight you don't have to with the size of PR maps. Don't wanna get knifed then shoot the guy.. I wasn't told no TKíng l was told no knife fights.. Some of the biggest laughs l ever had playing nilla was the knife fights before scrims and matches. The best being a 10v10 stand off with +plus that lasted for half as long as the first round. edit.. can l make clear l'm talking dead rounds here.. not a normal live round, esp on a pub server. I'm talking, the few moments you get in between rounds or while the server fills up for an organised match or on the off chance that the server needs restarting and you know admins are being contacted.. April 15, 200916 yr So your saying we can't have a community night on a locked server that actually involves something other than a normal game? Wow...there goes all my hopes for something interesting... Oh, and also, I think the community went on hold because of a) Their heavy frequency since 0.85 release b) moderate attendance c) game play that wasn't really that different from the pubs, no really sure how it started to degrade - It seemed to me like there are a lot of regulars simply not interested in the game playing as a full sized team. April 15, 200916 yr So your saying we can't have a community night on a locked server that actually involves something other than a normal game? Wow...there goes all my hopes for something interesting... No you just have to take into account how hard it is to alter allot of things in PR. Often your only choice to have a gentlemen's agreement not to do certain things. We have had nights like that in the past where we try something different and sadly it often fails due to ignorance of some. If you want to "something interesting" for the community night then pull your finger out and plan something. Find out how you can make it work and check with the admin team if it coincides with our rules and what we can do with the software we have. Also one more thing of note we generally don't have the necessary access to the back end of the servers so custom maps and such are a big ask. Especially if they cause server crashes or anything bad happens you can expect to be the black sheep for a while if that happens. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
April 15, 200916 yr Ok Well, I guess we could do something that would involve teamwork but not the normal flavor of PR? Something that could be advertised on the big server, reel in a few more community-oriented players? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
April 15, 200916 yr Author bring on Season 4 of the scrim ladder i say yeh thats cool, its no biggy, I was just wondering if something had happened etc that was a specific cause for the lack of community nights Good Conduct http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/goodconduct.bmp
April 15, 200916 yr No ChiefRyza hit the nail on the head earlier as to why they hasn't being any. Their is no conspiracy or anything its just not always worth while to hold then for long stretches. Also allot of the clans/teams have being holding training sessions and friendly skirmishes add on community nights and the BF2CC admins have allot of unpaid work hours on their hands. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
April 15, 200916 yr Maybe a map which would a allow for a bit of role playing , anything that would get rid of the "pub" feeling. A large scale scrim would be good. April 15, 200916 yr Ahah.. Knife Fight. How lame. Lol. There are vBF2 servers dedicated to that. Gives you points to your profile and a chance of getting your account banned by EA. Enjoy . PR was the reason why I ditched vanilla. Nothing like having a squad behind a wall being pinned and working out a way to get out of it. I love it!! But its school holiday atm so theres a wider range of PR experienced and skilled players . If you know what I mean. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

But its school holiday atm so theres a wider range of PR experienced and skilled players . If you know what I mean. are you for real.... l'm 35 years old and enjoy the occasional knife fight.. so what? I was never talking live round type action, and you can stick ya knife 'n' pistol servers. I'm talking about having a laugh in those few minutes of 'non serious' gaming.. Geez, ya can't be serious all the time. If you are you might wanna consider surgery to remove the stick in your arse.. (comment not directed at anyone in particular) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
April 16, 200916 yr I'm talking about having a laugh in those few minutes of 'non serious' gaming.. Fair call but this just brings us back to the age old debate of where the 'non serious' gaming ends and where the blatantly disregarding the rules starts. What you consider fun is to others a complete disregard for their game play experience. Further more I do not need to justify my decision on that particular occasion because I know I acted in accordance to how my fellow admins expect me to act given the circumstances. Especially seeing first hand the amount of disruptive behaviour being shown by a number of players on the night. Their was no way having a knife fight would have elevated the game play given the fact the squad bug had already ruined that round completely. Now their are any other number of ways you can kill time waiting for a serious server issue to be resolved the best being to leave the game and occupy your time effectively. Until you are notified the problem is fixed or you can see that for your self. If you really take offence to this I suggest you take it up with a head admin. Especially if you think I mishandled the situation. However I would not be surprised if you receive the same sort of message I have already stated. So long and thanks for all the fish. :hi: Edited April 16, 200916 yr by chambersAUS http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
April 17, 200916 yr You see the thing is, some people don't know how to draw a line between mature fun and immature behavior. Some people who play on bigD are SO childish that the moment that their curious little eyes see a knife fight something ticks in their brain telling them this is how the game is meant to be played. You've been warned... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
