I would just like to say thanks to all the bigD admins and all involved with the running of the bigD game servers. Because of you guys Pr has a fanbase in Australia and if it wasnt for bigD it would have surely died here. The bigD community is by far the best bunch of guys i have found to play games with and if it wasnt for bigD i would still be playing vbf2 with a bunch of tards. So once again i would just like to thank all the bigD admins for what they have done here because if it wasn't for them we would all have to play PR with 250 ping.

I'm sensing a bit of deja vu here. Back in 0.5 when we had an influx of vanilla tards everyone started to complain. Then the admins got pissed with us for bitching so we start a thankyou thread to remind them that we still love the game and appreciate what they do for us.

 

Personally I think that at times a community awareness thread, or bitch thread as they are more commonly known, is necessary and that people occasionally over-react to these threads. Not all situations can be dealt with by reporting a player.

But seriously, I dont mind the odd 'issues' thread as long as it is constructive, or at least results in a positive outcome. Spur-of-the-moment rant threads do not often meet this purpose (comments not aimed at anyone in particular here).

 

I'm sure we all don't want to see overwelming (posts of) negativity within the community...after all this is what we do for fun. I always think "What impression would a new player get if they read this stuff?". I hope its an active, passionate community who likes to improve things to make their game more fun/rewarding/accessible for mature new players.

I agree that creating awareness of a problem is in some cases more beneficial than just reporting people as it targets the cause rather than the symptoms.

 

But back to what this thread is about, the bigD crew have a lot to be proud of. Granted I'm new to online gaming, but I reckon PR wouldn't have much of a fan base in Australia at all if it weren't for bigD - Look at the gamearena server. Eternally empty.

 

I think a big portion of why bigD has been so successful is the community interaction on these forums. I don't think I've ever been involved in a forum that's as mature and constructive as this, and that has a lot to do with why I play PR on the bigD servers rather than any other game on servers I could access for free with my ISP.

Its not so much A single community awareness thread that is in question its the entire forums general tone as of this moment in time. The forums currently have a distinct tone and it is hatred to but it bluntly and the admin team has decided to do something about it. We will be closing threads that are deemed derogatory, demeaning or simply over the top in regards to what there about and how there been discussed.

 

Really its not to much that we ask the community to help us moderate the game and the forums. By choosing the words wisely, thinking about how there actions affect the experience of others and generally leave there aggressive attitudes at the door.

Nah seriously we need to get more of the players into the forums get some discussions happening and make people aware of what the community expects of one another ect, (no one wants negativity so lets pull our arrogant fingers out and post constructive not destructive) and always add a smile to your smart as comments

I think part of the reason why the PR general discussion catagory has such a negative vibe is that positive threads might be considered egotistic and most people dont like to brag. In the past I've started or contributed to positive threads regarding gameplay but they quickly dissapear down the bottom of the page due to lack of input. Also, a fair bit of the positive stuff gets reported in the commendations section.

Admins do a great job keeping tards out of servers, and they should be congratulated for being some of the more dilligent and efficient Admins. Let's hope they can aviod turning into the power hungry, egotistical admins of other servers, who are all too willing to throw their cyber weight around when its not needed.

I appreciate the admins' take no prisoners attitude in policing the game but I think that this policy within the forums might be getting a bit out of hand. In particular I am refering to Photo's farewell topic. In the past people have requested that members give a heads up if they intend to leave the community. IMO It is unreasonable for admins to then insult these players and lock the topic.

 

Before you say it, YES, responses could be PMed and the topic did have a slight negative tone to it. However, I would have thought that given photo's contribution to the game and forums that a little respect would be given.
