NOTE: SL = Squad Leader
Time for a rant, sorry guys. I am going to try my damnedest to make a clear point and leave my current ragequit frustration behind me.
For the last few days, I have been playing as SL many more times that I have wanted to. Often there is no squad to join (all are full or locked) and I then decide I had better start one, and immediately people join. When SL, you have some responsibilities; to do the job of a squad leader and to therefore get officers kits, deploy rally points etc.. Why are people shying away from the responsibility of SL position?
Maybe for the same reasons as myself, too much tactics and catering for others playing instead of just playing the game that I want to play - in short, like the commander mode, its not for me, there may be others out there who get more from doing those roles than I do. So why do I end up doing it occasionally, when I'd rather not? If I don't some one less qualified might have to. A sense of duty, perhaps...
[The reason for this thread follows this squared bracket] I am getting sick to death of joining a squad (that has already got at least one person in it) to have the current SL leave the squad and then rejoin, thereby letting me take the reigns. I think that I, having a game name with 'b' at the start of it, get an unfair proportion of the default promotion to SL (which I think is done by alphabetical ranking?).
How about this etiquette for the future from every one who wants not to be SL:
Announce in squad chat, either written or verbal that you do not wish to be SL,
Ask if any one wants to do it, to start a new squad that you will join
Then leave,
Then join the appropriate squad.
The very least you could do is warn the future SL that they are going to be responsible for the squad after you leave, instead of not letting them know and doom the squad to failure.
Maybe you are thinking, why do you care so much? Perhaps this doesn't happen to you? Does your game name start with something higher alphabetically than 'b'? Imagine that every time you play pr, you have to do a role that you don't want to? I want thephotoshop or aussiesniper or Ablack or any one who is qualified to do the job to be my SL. Sure, I'll do SL sometimes, but what actually annoys me, is the say-nothing-just-leave-the-squad-and-rejoin tactic. It's weak, and I hope it is something that only the vanilla players are currently doing with their newest pr 0.6 infatuation.
How often do you find that you are all of a sudden SL, with players yelling at you to do things that you *should* have been doing? - all the while not knowing that you were even SL?
