What is Combat Simulations International?

Combat Simulations International (or 'Combat Sims' or 'milsims') is a small, mature 18+ community with very specific interests. We are dedicated to a form of IR ('Laser') Combat that aims to replicate a realistic (simulated) combat experience.

What are the bare essentials I should bring along to a deployment?

A good sturdy pair of fully enclosed boots or runners must be worn at our deployments for safety reasons. We also suggest a set of DPCU's (disruptive pattern camouflage uniform) if you have them. Otherwise, camouflage overalls can be hired from our armourer for a small fee. At very least, you should wear long pants, and (preferably) a long-sleeved shirt.

Most of our fields have amenities such as taps for drinking water and bathrooms. However, it is your responsibility to bring an adequate amount of water (at least 2L) and some food for yourself to consume throughout a Com Sims deployment.

We suggest you steer clear of energy drinks and other carbonated drinks as they do little for you and are a fast track to dehydration. For food, we suggest small muesli bars or snack packs. Many of our players also carry with them sweets, like jubes or snakes, that will give a quick release of sugar. On deployments we will often harbour up to enable players to get a quick feed, so you may opt to bring a more sustained meal for the longer deployments if you have the means to carry it.

And last of all but most importantly, bring along your respect and a good attitude to getting in and getting your hands dirty.

Also please note due to the nature of these events all applicants must be 18 years of older.

Right you have read all this jibber jab and you have said to yourself I'm keen HOW DO I GET THERE? Well here are some maps. The (Scouts) Baden Powell Park at Samford has multipl entry points but we only use one. Its located on Samford Rd. If you heading outbound (towards Samford Village) you will find a small drive way on the right hand side of the road. Turn in here head a little way down the hill and you will find the Armoury.

Please note there is no need to come earlier than 0915 as the grounds will not be open to anyone who is not admin and there is not a lot of parking near the drive way. Also if in doubt INDICATE EARLY! People really fly up and down Samford Rd on and they are liable to wipe you out.

Finally if you would like a lift feel free to ask. Same if you want to borrow any gear, can't lend you a tagger this you will have to hire.

Guys for those of you who have attended a session over the past couple of months but haven't yet created a forum account, you now should be able to do so (at http://www.combatsimsint.com). Account registration was disabled while the web site was being moved but that should now be resolved.

As per rules published on the Combat Sims website, forum membership carries with it the prerequisite of session attendance.

We've had about another 8 registrations (and maybe more) over the list posted above. Any other takers for some end of year battle fats and barbecues?

Plenty of fun was had and one arms dealer was taken down. Photos may follow.

I even got a kill! Craziness!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y122/sabretron/auxbkt.png

A few possible highlights, all much less serious than usual deployments:

* rolling out as an 'arms dealer' in a big red suit with dual SMGs

* one of the blufor guys yelling out to some young Scouts at the lake "look kids, we killed santa!" after which one of them started crying

* Delta's stab at the 'best death' award by going down in an 8 second slow motion sequence
