ok, im house sitting at my uncles place and he hasnt given me the password to his isp info. im pretty sure downloads from gamearena are unmetered, as the site itself is, but i cant check this by looking at his download stats.

 

Also, hes got a rig that will play PR but hasnt given me admin rights, on vista, or his password, so my idea is to install XP on one of his other harddrives and use that for PR and hope it doesnt cause an issue...fingerscrossed.

They always used to be. I'm not 100% how they decide when it is unmetered and when it isn't I think you need to login your gay arena account and have it stipulated that your using Telstra ISP but I cannot confirm.

Yes, everything off GameArena is unmetered of you use an account that has a BigPond account tied to it. First you have to make the account on GameArena, then in the options you can add a Bigpond account. You have to have all the details for it, but I'm not sure if you can use other Bigpond accounts on a different connection. If you already have one, try using that and do a little test.

 

On your Telstra Bigpond home page, it also has the usage meter, which tells you how much unmetered stuff you have downloaded for the month. Would be the easiest way to see if it was working.

Won't you need the ISP info if you are booting off XP (however you mange to get that installed)

 

Good luck but wouldn't it be easier to simply ask your uncle for the admin password etc. I'm sure he'd prefer that option than you royally stuffing up something on his PC?

around the place there easy to find - it was always free before
