On occasions Vis and myself spam up the Community Events forum here in an effort to drag people out to Combat Sims sessions in Brisbane. (myself, Base, VisOne, Tonnie, Poncho, Bundy, BigJake, chillwinston and possibly others I've forgotten have succumbed so far)

 

I'm still recovering from a weekend of bush-based frags called LazerStorm 2010 - an annual event which draws milsim players from around Australia to get their gats out in a platoon-sized operation for three days in South-East Queensland.

 

We're all gamers here and this is on the slightly more physical side of gaming so I thought you guys might like a quick run-down of the weekend and peek at some of the photos & videos. T'was some pretty cool **** as Vis, Tonnie, Base, Smoovdogg, ReconAus and BigJake can attest to.

 

Admin rocked up on Friday (and survived temperatures reaching minus 6 degrees celsius on early Saturday morning) departing Monday night while the other attendees arrived Saturday morning and departed early Monday afternoon, having spent over 52 hours in the field.

 

The event was a success, with Northern Alliance (redfor) scoring the highest points based on mil-skills objectives (sniping, OP, recon, assault, defence, navex, vehicle checkpoints) and KIA point losses. Holdfast Global (blufor) secured Morgan Hudson thus claiming control of the New Holland AO.

The Combat Sims Int VCP videos are also in HD if you can spare the bandwidth. No points for guessing BladeRunner on the UN VCP is a fan of District 9. The UN Vehicle Check Point as players entered the property was an absolute crackup and the players responded in various ways ranging from surprise/shock at the UN vehicle search, to extreme amusement.

GET SOME! Get some of the -6 degree SUCK! That aside it was awesome and you all need to get into the sport and make it bigger and stronger and harder. Wait I'm going to leave that alone before Seg gets excited.

0A = Zero Alpha the admin radio callsign and general issuer of bad orders.

Real = One of the admins nick name.

This is just how I roll, but in all Storm was a great event especially the 2am piquets in the -6 degree cold. Reccommend u guys get into some CombatSims / VLSA action soon so you will be good to go for storm next year. Storm is only going to get bigger and better

Is teabagging frowned upon?

I partook in LS back in 06 with a few of the GCLS crew was great, been thinking about picking it up again.

 

Do they still have weapons avaliable or is it BYO?

Had a go at laser skirmish over here in the swan valley, that was pretty cool. Was setup as a marksman and together with my cuz be both locked down an entire side of the forcing the opposition into our mg nests/traps . . . twas great fun altho the dads on the opposite team were getting seriously frustrated at getting pwn3d (o:

Yeah... paintball with accurate guns would be aweeesome. Apparently airsoft is quite big in japan so I'm quite looking forward to that

That was me for about 80% of the event opening and closing my admin pouch while admin either in person or on the radio told me what I needed to get my boys to do. All in all I think I successfully hit no one with a IR beam the entire event.

Mate I am pissed as those videos are of REDFOR entering the AO the player/person putting on the voice is BladeRunner. When I showed up earlier in the day he was doing it and we had a great battle of wits all based around a dodgy South African voice and my equally silly Rhodesian voice.

 

Went something like this

 

Blade - Stop the vehicle surrrr.

VisOne - Its ok boss its ok boss I'm stopping.

Blade - Remain in your vehicle surrr.

VisOne - Yes surr right surrr right away surrr.

Blade - Do you have weapons surrr.

VisOne - Noo surrr no weapons and no prawns I assure of that surrr.

Rego is $110, tagger hire is about $35

 

Cams, webbing, boots, sleeping gear, cooking gear is at your own cost

so can you go without cammo...im thinking a pink tutu!!!
