A lot of people are getting bored with the current maps & tactics. I was thinking that it would be a nice diversion to hold a game or two (on the sunday night locked server2) where pistols are the only weapon allowed.

 

Maps would need to be chosen that favour pistol battles. Ejod 16player comes to mind.

 

I know that the Special Forces kit comes with a silenced pistol. At least the US kit does, I rarely play spec ops in other armies so im not certain whether they carry pistols. I believe the officer kit does too. Everyone spawns with the Spec Ops kit and agrees to ONLY use their pistol. Smoke could be used but no explosives.

 

Anyway, I'm starting a poll and if enough people want to play a game or two of Pistol Battle, then perhaps the admins can set something up.

 

Map suggestions and general input are welcome.

Best to play a map which doesn't contain the MEC there pistol is off target by about a 1mm more than enough to make it virtually useless when facing anyone with any other pistol.

I tested the various Special Forces pistols, US, UK, MEC, PLA and I'm confident that the differences won't be an issue.

 

The US and UK use the same pistol. It isn't silenced as I originally thought. You get 4, 15 round magazines and bullets hit the pixel above your iron sight.

 

The MEC & PLA pistols come with 3, 15 round magazines. The bullets of the MEC pistol do appear to hit slightly above your iron sight but not left or right. IMO this isnt a problem. Its nothing compared to the M16 vs. Automatic rifles imbalance.

 

The PLA pistol is better than the MEC but not quite as good as the US.

 

I can't comment on power as I don't know if their calibres differ or what the DEVs programmed.

When I feel like playing pistols only I'll go buy Counter Strike again.

Would be interesting, but yeah I got oversaturated for pistols from CS

Funny thing is I'm really thinking about getting a copy again.

The closest I've come to CS is watching my brother play it. The gun mechanics and gameplay seemed worse than vanilla BF2, so i didnt bother. Surely 1 'pistol only' game or even 30 minutes wouldn't be that bad?

 

If this doesn't eventuate I'm tempted to spend a few lives in one of the pub matches with the Spec Ops pistol as my only defence. The one condition is that my opponent is US. Pistol against M-16 at medium to close range gives me a fighting chance. Some might even say an advantage.

Would be an interesting game. I'd be up for it.

Man pistols suck But I recall once bailing out of a chopper over an enemy spawn point and taking down 3 enemy and the spawn with the pistol hahahaa ah that was great.
