Posted January 1, 201015 yr I am looking at going to ADSL2 at the moment I am on ADSL 25gig bigpond. And I need something a bit cheaper was looking at tpg does anyone use them. Are they reliable as bigpond (no drop outs at all) If I go to ADSL2 will that support 2 computers on the same line. Because at the moment if my wife gets online on the laptop I get ping spikes and lag to the max and can't play PR. Currnet line speed____ the plan is ment to be 1500 kbps. Telstra...... Your line speed is 1.29 Mbps (1292 kbps). Your download speed is 161 KB/s (0.16 MB/s). Optus...... Your line speed is 1.34 Mbps (1336 kbps). Your download speed is 167 KB/s (0.16 MB/s). I thank you for your help.... “The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with,"Watches you from the mirror every morning'.”
January 1, 201015 yr What speed you'll get (and thus, what sort of performance you can expect if you have 2 computers extensively utilising the line) depends on a number of factors, including: Quality of the copper line Distance to the exchange Quality of the home networking gear you're using (modem + router) Head to http://www.whirlpool.net.au (commonly refered to as "whingepool" by those in the telecommunications industry) and have a look around. You'll probably be able to find some useful information there.
January 1, 201015 yr A few of my mates use TPG here in brissy and have no major complaints as far as i know. Its cheap so....sometimes thats good enough I got boring old cable myself..

January 2, 201015 yr My cousin has being using TPG for the last year or two has had no complaints about speed or reliability. Although as usual there are plenty of whinge threads and complaints on whirlpool about them. Really if I am in the same position as yourself I'm with Telstra although I have what they are claiming is high speed cable internet. I know the minute I can leave me contract without losing allot of money I will and I will change to TPG. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
January 2, 201015 yr can only speak from personal experience gained. a friend of mine lives in wynnum and he doesn't have a great tpg experience. i also have a workmate in strathpine that also has regular dropouts and long slowdowns, but not singled out to tpg or telstra. for example, i have 40db of attenuation on my line, adsl2 wouldn't be great so i stay with adsl1. whether or not it's poor wiring in my house, i cannot say. i always recommend internode but you mention cheap so you can't consider them. unless you want free usenet. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.

Usenet servers access = free dls does not. I still rate node very highly though, been with them for like 4 years now I think and have never had a major problem, and any times which I have ever had to call them I actually talked to a real live living breathing person, who did not have a distinguishable accent, and better yet problem was always solved. Planes are mid range ie on adsl2/2+ if you can get onto one of their DSLAMS you will pay ~$50 for 20GB dl's. Still I think they are worth the mid range pricing. http://users.on.net/~mperrin/images/les_mis_kindros.png You're all wrong, and I am always right, and the sooner you accept it, the happier you will be. January 2, 201015 yr yes, i wasn't clear. free usenet = don't have to pay to access long retention rates = free. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. January 2, 201015 yr I'd be with 'node if my suburb wasn't strangled by the monopoly that is TransACT FTTH.
January 2, 201015 yr TPG's plans are pretty awesome, especially on the high end ones with 1mbps/1mbps shaping!! That being said, I'd be way too hesitant to join up with them, and since iiNet recently upped my quota from 75GB to 120GB and doubled my shaping speed (to a comparatively measly 128k/1mbps) I have stopped considering them. Just one too many bad stories, although they're no Dodo. Definitely give them a go, and if you find they're not great, at least you would've had a go, because for GB/$, they can't be beat in Australia. Oh, and you should check if TPG have a DSLAM in your exchange: http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewexchange.php?Exchange=SOPT [That's assuming you're on the Southport exchange, couldn't tell from your "Location"] If that's not your area, check: http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewexchanges.php?Location=QLD OR just enter your address here: http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/addresslookupstart.php Edited January 2, 201015 yr by Husker http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man.
