Generally speaking I prefer urban maps over forest maps, the main reason being that urban maps provide 'hard' cover. In many cases the winner of a forest battle is the side with the larger group because the moment you shoot your position is given away and you are dead. There is no place to hide.

 

I even prefer an unbalanced urban map such as Muttrah or Phoenix over ghost train & mao valley.

 

I've been pretty happy with the map rotations recently due to the virtual elimination of the dreaded forest maps. The switch to some of the more vehicle heavy maps like Greasy Mullet have provided a bit of gameplay variety and allow more people to use the coveted armour and air.

 

Ejod has always been my favourite, particularly when playing as MEC.

Jabal is a fun map for either team as is Greasy Mullet.

 

If you ignore the unfair ticket bleed, Muttrah City and Op Phoenix can also provide fun and interesting situations.

EJOD because there is such good tactics that are used and the cooperation from other squads and team members. :wink:

Al Fallujah because it's in-your-face CQB over a large map. It has varied terrain, urban, open desert, bunkers.

 

Usually results in a pretty dynamic game (unless everyone just tries to spam each other to death in that area behind the destructible gate...

I would say Ghost Train if only it had more hard-cover urbanised sections, instead of pissy little pillboxes. I love it for the atmosphere, but the mechanics of jungle combat do get tiresome.

 

Recently I would have to say my favourite map has become Jabal al Burj. I love the huge variety of terrain that exists in this map, and how you must push from a small outpost, through rugged terrain, up to a city, and finally in to the enemy stronghold.

Any map with tanks that hasn't thrown them in just for the hell of it (aka: not sunset city)

Muttrah back in the day before the inception of rally points ruined it.

Sunset city. Maybe because it was the first map I ever played maybe coz I just like the fact that it is urban and NOT MEC. However I never see it played anymore is it still in rotation?

Yeap I believe you will find its the very last map in the rotation before it starts all over again.

But EXTRACT maps aside Jabal Al-Burj hands down for the same reasons as Photo, not to mention the sheer size (bigger the better) and you can employ just about every type of soldier on the battlefield the way there meant to be.

But i reckon the best looking map (visually speaking) is qwai river (or wheva the fk its called)

Ejod for the tactics (and love of urban combat) yes I agree, but BF2 deserts are fugly

I've been digging on greasy mullet lately. The Armour/Air tactics get me going (was frothing as commander the other night laying down attack markers for the cobra) even though the cap sequence blows.

Qwai River by far, got the love that LB.

Sunset City...find it a well balanced maps despite Lucid not liking the 'hell of it' tanks

The Greasy Mullet Littlebird is much cooler than the Qwai River one because of it's Hydra missiles. In a fight between the MEC attack chopper (not the littlebird wannabe) and the Littlebird, the LB almost always comes out the winner. Thats how good it is.

 

The main reason that the Qwai LB is good is because of the Map. All other maps that include the 'attack' littlebird have good anti air defences. All we can do on Qwai is hope to shoot you out of the cockpit before you turn around and minigun us to death.

 

On Qwai last night you were my scourge Bullet, assuming that was you in the LB. You and our other squad which didnt know the meaning of defence. Fortunately my squad took up defence of our chinese Main Base and managed to hold off a jeep, 2 littlebirds and a full squad with rally point in place to our south.

 

Sunset City balanced? I find that the US almost always lose. If they cant keep the lower city flag they get pwned through ticket bleed.

Al Fal is pretty bad at the moment. I usually disconnect when it comes up because it's just a grenadier, light AT fest. Really does my head in.

 

But 0.6 is coming.....

Ive always liked the map and never got sick of it and atm Ive got a soft spot for it.

Sunset City basically requires the USMC to cut off the Chinese supplies by taking down the Market and Parking Lot rally points ASAP.
