Posted November 27, 200915 yr I'm thinking of switching from Internode to TPG because i want ADSL2+ (Internode doesn't have it here yet). + TPG is this same price ($49.95) for 100gig as Internode for 50 gig. I'm 1km from the exchange and expect to get approximately 16mbps sync. Does anyone know if there is any latency problems or anything negative about TPG? Also, are there any other providers out there that are good value and good service that anyone uses and can recommend? getting mad for peoples amusement
November 27, 200915 yr I'm still paying $90 for 30gb...dam iiNet old plans. Does include the home phone though, im sure i could get something better.
November 27, 200915 yr If you searched, there have been a few complaints about problems with TPG, probably through network saturation as they took on a lot of customers. segmentor/psyrus and the other network dudes may remember the threads. That said, they may have scaled their capacity to meet their demand. Nothing beats Node for reliabilty, plus your ping goes up by 10-15 when you go from ADSL1 to 2, apparently. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.
November 27, 200915 yr i was with tpg in Canberra and they are okay... there prices are VERY good. there support was lacking some what but they have improved... but generally i didnt have any problems with them. others have different stories, and wouldnt recommend them... but they have had different expierences me. There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.
November 27, 200915 yr My cousin has TPG ADSL+2 here in Brisbane and gets comparable pings to me in most games and I have Telstra Cable. As long as your close to the exchange you should be fine. Besides imagine all the rule 37 you could download with another 50 gigs. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
November 27, 200915 yr whirlpool.net.au is your friend when looking at internets options. TPG has been having problems lately. One of my mates who is on an ADSL2 plan is thinking about switching to iinet, because he is unhappy with TPG at the moment. http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2561/bigdsig.jpg
November 27, 200915 yr Author whirlpool.net.au is your friend when looking at internets options. TPG has been having problems lately. One of my mates who is on an ADSL2 plan is thinking about switching to iinet, because he is unhappy with TPG at the moment. I thought that this community was a better choice. I have been on whirlpool alot and the thoughts can be very mixed some times. --- Also, mind that TPG requirs a 12 month contract thing. getting mad for peoples amusement
November 27, 200915 yr Im with TPG on ADSL2+ had no major issue with them only had a few dropouts but not much. Prices are good and plans are pretty decent too
November 27, 200915 yr Well TPG/Soul (same owner) recently bought PIPE who just completed laying PPC-1 so a fair amount of their international capacity issues should be solved in the short term, as well as significantly more interstate bandwidth. So in theory TPG can only get better from this point in time, but I've heard of super high contention ratios and you can ask AintWarHell about his experiences, let's just say 400 ping is a good one for him during peak hours Dunno if that has settled down. I wouldn't commit to a contract with TPG until you can be sure that people in your state & exchange experience no congestion issues during the hours you want to play. Creating a thread in the TPG area asking people to run some tracerts/pings to servers @ various times of the day can help, although it won't give you a complete picture... November 27, 200915 yr Have you looked at iiNet, them and Internode are neck and neck for customer support, service and reliability. iiNet has more unmetered content than Internode if that is important to you, freezone.iinet.net.au. I have been with both ISP's and both are definitely the leading ISP's in Australia, iiNet may have ADSL2+ if Internode doesn't in your exchange. http://www.clan-tea.com/sigs/flames/Poncho-Temp.png Orders starting with SOMEBODY usually wind up being completed by NOBODY.
November 27, 200915 yr I am on TPG/SOUL ADSL2+ in regional NSW - had no worries with my connection. Very cost effective. My pings to Adelaide GSA servers were about 100, will try the new servers shortly. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
November 27, 200915 yr I'm on TPG as well, $50 for 100gb/month. You'd find (especially on whirlpool) more people complaining than there are praising. As for me, I love it! http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/merc.bmp On the topic of shiny auscam... the sound they made while bush walking made it seem like I was doing mean things to little furry animals inside my pants
November 27, 200915 yr im with TPG, and to be honest i really dislike it. At night i am getting dropouts every 5-20 minutes and during the day its once every hour or so. If you look on their forums you will see alot of complaints like mine. I will be switching to Node Or iinet soon because i really dont like the service i have been getting. This only started happening when i was upgraded to adsl2+
November 27, 200915 yr It's area dependant (I think) http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/merc.bmp On the topic of shiny auscam... the sound they made while bush walking made it seem like I was doing mean things to little furry animals inside my pants
