ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

hey guys

 

just wondering if there are any tech heads out there who could help me try and bypass the proxies in our school so i can go on Bigd and other blocked websites @ school

 

well to start off we get billed for the Internet @ school how sad is that?? :disgust: there is all so very few warpages available for us to visit which is why my goal is going 2 try and bypass it

 

heres how mean some of there rules are

 

1.no .exe files to be stored on the computer systems! ...(lol i do but i zipd it twice and put a pass word on both folders...working like a charm )

 

2.no .bat files :/ thats coz me and some other guys were "making .bat that would be of a nusense to any computer user" lol

 

3.only 75mb of storage and we get billed for net usage....stink!

 

The Proxy

it is the best Proxy i have seen in all the schools i have gone to from what i understand the school is paying a 3rd party service for this proxy it seams to block every thing including BIGD!!!! and PR!!!

 

the basic proxie websites do not work e.g www.btunnel.com ....from what it appears it looks as the school proxy analyses all web pages the user trys to visit and blocks it if it is the No,No list example BigD is picd up as bulletin boards so its blocked!!

 

what we have access to

visual basic

...lol i have limited/some skill in programing i have made a very basic game and a very basic web browser keen to learn it tho

 

CMD

woot! very few cmds but still some!

 

Fire fox and IE most setting disabled for us 2 play with

 

oh and also some Linux machines running ubuntu 8.XXX? (mainly school is xp based)

 

they have 1 major weakness PEN drives and portable apps http://portableapps.com/ i no you can get a portable version of fire fox etc

 

the only thing i have gotten to work is googles mobile translator not a lot of fun but still works....justhttp://www.google.com/gwt/n?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bigdgaming.netobvisuly the school cannot block Google

 

so enough jibjaba MY PLAN lol

step 1 find/a Linux box with ssh on it and set it up!...lol any 1 got 1 they would like to shear?

 

step 2 download putty portable and Firefox portable put them on thumb drive

 

step 3 connect putty to the server and set firefoxportable up so it uses ssh as its proxy through socket 4 or 5

 

viola i should be browsing uncharged and unrestricted!

 

so after wasting 5-10 Mins of your important time my question is 1st will my plan work? if yes do you have any idea how to set it up? or do you no a better way 2 bypass the proxy server in the school?

The NSW Department of Education and Training has an unbreakable proxy setup, of course until I obtained a teachers login, to which they have no sites blocked, even sites like Facebook and youtube.

yea not though ours tho our browerser (IE and Firefox)block any webpages with https:// so it stops online banking etc and any other ssl site thanks for the reply tho

yea thats why i have 2 cross to the dark side lol...and belive me man you donont want to even try to talk to our admins at the school there answer for everything is "have you tryd turning it off and turnning it on" i mean come on who dose that! ....well it was the 1st thing i tryd lol

Sounds like you're a menace, and I doubt too many would be willing to share hearing some of this.

 

your main problem is not that you can't connect, it's that there will be very very few ways around that proxy, and router for that matter. if you try the ssh route, you will get sprung pretty quick, which will solve your gripe about paying for net usage...

The sites are blocked for a reason dude. If you don't know what that reason is, maybe you should approach the Head of IT and politely ask. I would wager that it's policy driven, caused by previous incidences where the school has gotten into trouble because some little dweeb accessed some war site and saw pictures of things noone would ever want to look at. Alternatively, that any site other than an approved site is perceived as a security risk.

 

Accept it and look at the forums in your own time.

 

Do it and get caught, and you'll probably loose access to the 'net access at school, if not the PC's completely, which will seriously screw over your learning capabilities.

The DET blocks ALL sites that they have not allowed, so any site that has not been discovered yet will be classed as un-categorised and still be blocked..

 

And my friend got busted using our teacher password

The idiot was on youtube with the deputy behind him...

yea good point man...it would still be fun to do tho put some of my IT skills to use rather then getting taught to use M$ word in class yip thats how hard core the lessons are lol

LOL dam that would of sucked..yea this drop kick at my school put a key logger on the principles keyboard and got his password etc and started changing his grades lol got busted tho and in big trouble

get a bunch of your friends to go to the admin for some help, get on his computer go to your acount, and then grant yourself all the internet permissions you want. (its what i did) but i wouldent really be bothered, your only at school a few hours a day, during times when not much happens on bigd, so your not gonna miss anything big on bigd.

my school use to have banned alot of websites then the head of IT was sacked and he ****ed up the banning thing so basicly he can go on any website we want ......... but if the it dudes see us on it they may our computer restart ....

LOL i love it! only problem is theres 2 of them so they prettery geard up for a front on attack i saw some numchucks in there 1 time lord only no's why LOL yea i no not alot happens though the day time but its not just BigD like other websites as well

The amount of readable English is disturbing...

There are rules and regulations in schools for a reason. These rules have been put in place by the government and are to protect students.

 

Whilst i understand wanting to look at fun things, work out how to make things work, school is for learning things that will make you a productive member of society, not a juvenile criminal that hacks government property and in all likely hood gets caught.

 

If you wish to continue discussing, do so else where.
