Posted October 1, 200915 yr I was playing gears of war the other day on SeXbox 360 and there is a cover and move button, where you can hide behind walls and objects to get decent cover and then move to the next bit of cover by pointing in that direction. So for instance, you could be crouched behind a small wall and if you want to dive across to the cover behind the next wall you can point that way and then hit the button again. Same if you want to jump over the wall. You can also hide behind bigger walls so you are leaning against it. If you hit the trigger button, your guy will point his weapon around/over corner and fire blindly, or you can hit aim and he will pop his head out into zoom and when you let go you are behind cover again. GOW does cheat a bit because your view is away from your guy so you can see around corners and over objects when you shouldn't, but if it were in PR you would just have normal view through your players eyes. I know that BF2 engine could not do anything like this....shame Noddy´s Awesomeness = HAPPY GEK http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm127/vandal1313/Disobidience-small.jpg
October 1, 200915 yr yep would be awesome in PR if it was in First Person mode, the ability to lock behind cover and then pop up or around a corner. It would really make PR on a whole new level. Maybe in iPR2.0 http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2111/shotgunreal.pnghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/lol.bmp Love you long time gunner <3 I like to wait till im nearly done, then pull out and yell "COVERING FIRE!!!" Ahhh. Im so glad I have a GF and she doesnt read these forums...
October 1, 200915 yr .. ive been waiting for a company to put in context sensative cover system like that for ages in a FPS.. would add to the relism seeing someone hugging the walls/low stone wall [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
October 1, 200915 yr like any game with one but FPS would of been heaps better in say brothers in arms :hells highway [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
October 1, 200915 yr I didn't mind the cover system in Call Of Juarez 2 where an upward move of the mouse would look over the object you're behind. I think it's definitely something FPS producers are looking at as the next big step in FPS.
October 1, 200915 yr I heard that in PR 2 they will be looking at a gun physics system similar to that used in the Unreal Tournament mod: Infiltration. Basically you can physically mount all your weapons on cover, moving against walls pushes your gun down as if it was impacting with it, etc etc. Very cool stuff, so hopefully it will all be possible with PR2. Oh, and combat rolling everywhere isn't a huge part of combat, especially when you have that much gear packed on. For me, I would rather a system where it is all up to the player, much more immersing when your controlling every little movement - so your relying on your control of the player to pull these maneuvers off, adding a level of skill to everything instead of having it embedded as an automatic function. Kinda like in that video just not that stupid like blind fireing a Heavy MG and such. Edited October 1, 200915 yr by Painus http://imageshack.com/a/img538/2069/C6k7ld.png

YEEEEEHAWWWWWW! pop pop pop pop pop on the last level or something and i cant beat him in a showdown ! getting mad for peoples amusement
October 1, 200915 yr Juarez has some fun multiplayer, never tried single. anyway, back on topic I would honestly be happy with even just a lean around corner system (like in Arma 2 and hundreds of previous FPS's...why the hell EA left it out of BF2 boggles the mind) and a Jump over Object thingo like in the CoD series - would make combat much less clunky. October 1, 200915 yr Author i guess the failings of BF2 come due to EA's long history with sporting games like NFL. They make more money off them seeing as there is a new one every year...what they tried to do to BF series and failed. Noddy´s Awesomeness = HAPPY GEK http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm127/vandal1313/Disobidience-small.jpg
October 1, 200915 yr They failed so badly with the BF series that people are still playing the same crappy game and their mods over five years later. People hating on EA is just about as irrational as people hating all Yanks just because they're Yanks....... EA is a publisher, they may guide a game for budget reasons etc (they're in it to make money) but in the case of BF2 Dice made it, it's their fault for any shortcomings. October 1, 200915 yr Ahh Smokejumper how you are mistaken. I think you will find most if not all the funding would have come from EA and that EA gets to have every little say in it. Its more likely EA said here is the money you have 12 months to make a game.. GO! Dice probably would love to put a lot more effort into their game but for it to arrive when EA wants it, it has to be what it is. http://www.clan-tea.com/sigs/flames/Poncho-Temp.png Orders starting with SOMEBODY usually wind up being completed by NOBODY.
October 1, 200915 yr That excuse doesn't fly when you are putting up a building. You have to be on time and on budget, of course that rarely happens but the end result must be a building that doesn't fall over and looks good. I'm not letting DICE off that easy, they had a budget, objective and deadline, get it done. We saw DICE do it with that recent hotfix. If they gave a damn about their game and us so much they could have done the same with earlier problems. Also as with most business EA would have looked at more than just DICE to make the game. Who can do it fastest and cheapest with a good result would get the job and DICE would have said they can do it but they didn't and EA published what they where given. Further delay would have cost them more than angry rants from fans. October 1, 200915 yr They failed so badly with the BF series that people are still playing the same crappy game and their mods over five years later. EA and the game don't dictate how much time/effort the mod community puts into it. Not one person I know IRL still plays BF2, and I will wager good, good money at least half of BigD wouldn't be on BF2 still if PR wasn't around. October 1, 200915 yr Well, for starters, bigD wouldn't even exist in that situation [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Here Here ! no button allows you to duck for cover.... so why should a realistic game try embed it.... use the cover urself without the hollywood action scenes... October 1, 200915 yr Hmm, I would laugh, if Christos had actually changed the subject. he did, he changed it from all the squabbling about EA . . . now on what christos said! It would be good to turn ur head around a corner first, as opposed to blatantly walking into a room and getting your body turned into a pin cushion. my wish: FAST ROPES!!!! :fans: http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss187/Chanvlan/new_kit.jpg yeah but this is the internet' date=' you have to expect the unexpected or else you'll get caught out by things you should've expected but didn't.
