Currently in NSW since Tuesday, there has been some massive internet outages according to TPG support. Anyone eles experencing these drop-outs?

I have no internet at home currently, i'm here at school looking over the forums.

Any of you IT experts know anything about this?

EDIT: Found this on the TPG site.

Could be caused by the 7 fibre optic and 3 copper cables cut by a contractor in the Sydney CBD on Tuesday........

So how do you become an expert suicide bomber?

teabagging is for kids .... Real Men "Potato Sack".

I've looked through there and theres really no mention of my issue.

Then it could be either:

- Modem Issue

- Line Issue

- Work been carried out on the exchange

Give it abit :)

Just remember its NEVER your fault its always SOMEONE else's fault and if you ever admit it might have being or could be your fault you lose the game.

I spent 40minutes on the phone yesterday afternoon with some bloody indian bloke who got me to take apart my network and re-set everything back up, only to tell me what I had gathered before I rang, the issue is on their end.

Keep ringing and complaining and you get $300 back like i did :)

Probably unrelated but this morning when I turned my laptop on, all the lights on the modem were showing but Vista was giving me an error with an error symbol on the internet icon thing in the task bar.

Simply restarted the modem and waited for PPP to light up and away I went.

But I'm up in QLD, so it probably hasn't got anything to do with your problem.

You got to to remember after the cables were severed, while it may not affect you directly, there will be some pretty effing huge network diversion taking place. 3 fibre channels being severed isn't a small problem... It will cause things like lag and congestion for a while until either the new routing tables are worked out on the fall-back hardware, or the cable is fixed, which isn't a simple task either.

You're all wrong, and I am always right, and the sooner you accept it, the happier you will be. That is all!
