Posted August 21, 200915 yr Funny enough this is actually the second time I have started this thread. This time I intend on finishing it. Anyway basically here is a quick tutorial on how to set up STEAM so it will source its content from your preferred servers. This means that to some extent your very likely to get FREE or UNMETERED download content. However it assumes to couple of things. One is that your ISP and the PLAN your on allows for free or unmetered content. The second assumption is that your ISP has a steam content server or friendly content server which you can obtain free or unmetered content from. Finally the third and most IMPORTANT assumption we are going to make is that the content you want IS HOSTED on the free or unmetered server you want. Now for arguments sake I have Bigpond as my ISP and they certainly do have a STEAM content server. So I am going to show you how to ask STEAM to use content from that server before it looks anywhere else. So here we go the first thing you will need to do is start STEAM and login using your account. Once you have it open you can do this two different ways. One is the main STEAM window and go to top left corner and the VIEW tab. As shown in THIS picture below. The other way is to RIGHT CLICK the STEAM ICON in your windows system tray as shown HERE. Once your there you will need to click on the settings button and it will open a new window and you will need to select the DOWNLOAD TAB finally you should see THIS. Here is where you will do all the real work select your internet speed and then in the list try and find the appropriate content server for your ISP. That is pretty much all there is to it. There are some 3rd part programs that people have told me work better than this. I HAVE NOT USED THEM so I leave it up to those people who do to post about them. Finally it is NOT MY PROBLEM if you use up your download because you have done something wrong, the content is not free or the server doesn't not have the content you want. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png

This program is SIMPLE and EASY to use, install it and let it go, i have been using it for sooo long now to limit my download to GA, and its great, i ahve downloaded ArmA2, Far Cry2, EVE, Empire Total War, and monster trucks nitro, all using this little program to make sure its unmetred, this programs great never ever had a problem. http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss187/Chanvlan/new_kit.jpg yeah but this is the internet' date=' you have to expect the unexpected or else you'll get caught out by things you should've expected but didn't. Its exactly like knowing about the stuff you dont know about, that way you know theres stuff you dont know so when you know what you dont know you can say "ah i knew that!"[/quote']
