That article doesn't say anything about what happened to him. Maybe he found a nice Afghani girl and went AWOL with her, who knows.

 

Surely if they knew Taliban captured him they would have a better idea of how/why/when/where the Taliban captured him.

 

Soldier 1: "Hey, hey... Where's Dave?"

Soldier 2: "Hmmm I don't know, haven't seen him since Tuesday."

Soldier 3: "Oh yeah, I remember seeing him get captured by the Taliban on Tuesday afternoon."

Soldier 1: "Oh, good... At least we know where he is, I was worried for a second."

Soldier 2: "Yeah imagine how bad it would be if we had no idea where he was."

Soldier 3: "Yeah that would suck, lol."

very sad news indeed no matter what the circumstances... hope for his and his loved ones sake that all ends well.

Don't soldiers sometimes get killed at their own bases by friendlies? Sounds bad to point the finger but it seems that few care about being "kind" in this thread.

that article was almost extra vague, possibly a screw up on someones part that they are trying to cover/investigate? not much point speculating i spose

I haven't seen anything other then speculation about this soldier yet. Have the Taliban or a similar insurgent group manned up and said they have him? So far it looks more like a M.I.A or AWOL then an actual hostage situation. So a little bit of a storm in a tea cup.

 

That said I do hope it ends well and they find him I don't know passed out in a local dirt drinking hole. :sweat:

hard to say , making press statements can be extremely dangerous for them as far as intel goes .

First they'll release the video of him in custody to the interweb to gain attention, then either ask for ransom, or execute him.

 

At least, i'd gain attention before i killed him. When the public gets to know someone, its an even bigger morale ditch.

They don't manage to capture a soldier and then just quietly kill him off-air. Maybe it's just taking them some time to get the gear to broadcast it, but more likely is this guy has buggered off.

I listen to American radio for hip hop and that is where I heard he left base on his own.
