Posted June 26, 200915 yr I'm looking at buying a new notebook. In particular a Dell Studio 15. http://www.avalpa.com/assets/andrea/studio15/img/dellstudio15.jpeg http://www1.ap.dell.com/au/en/home/notebooks/laptop-studio-1555/pd.aspx?refid=laptop-studio-1555&s=dhs&cs=audhs1 If anyone owns one or has any comments about this please post. I don't expect it to play the latest games, it's mainly for study/work, and to watch a few movies.
June 26, 200915 yr what are you going to be going on it? Microsoft Office, emails, internet? nothing to resource intensive I have heard that they are pretty decent http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2111/shotgunreal.pnghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/lol.bmp Love you long time gunner <3 I like to wait till im nearly done, then pull out and yell "COVERING FIRE!!!" Ahhh. Im so glad I have a GF and she doesnt read these forums...
June 26, 200915 yr My uni friends use them for 1st year architecture as well as computing (mainly for coding). The archi guys normally use it for things like sketchup and modelling in Unreal Tournament. Haven't heard anything bad about them so far. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/merc.bmp On the topic of shiny auscam... the sound they made while bush walking made it seem like I was doing mean things to little furry animals inside my pants
June 26, 200915 yr I owns one! Brought mine in April. She runs PR on mostly high settings and I haven't had an issue with it so far. Came with a free Lazor USB mouse. My Dell Studio 1555 CPU: T6400 (2GHz/ 800 FSB/ 2MB Cache) RAM: 3GB GPU: ATi HD4570 512mb HDD: 250GB SATA LCD: 15.6 " 720p WLED (1366x768) Was $1348 when I brought it. http://www.bigd.com.au/_bigdfiles/sigs/mh-sig-2016-11.png
June 26, 200915 yr I had one for a brief 4 days and was rather impressed, especially with the OLED display and the backlit keys. The only thing that bothered me was the touchpad, which was like 'part' of the actual case, rather than an inset pad, I ended up running off the pad without noticing a couple of times. I guess you'd get used to it... but yeah pretty decent value for money. I'm a huge dell laptop fanboi http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. It tells you not to play the second worst PR map [burning Sands] (first is Wanda Shan). QFT: if you dont get pissed off when you lose you dont care enough
June 26, 200915 yr Be aware, A mate in the dorms has one. He lives out on a property so it probably has been over some rough stuff in the past, but his is starting to fail. Sometimes it gets to a black screen on startup and it just sits there with the mouse showing, do a reboot and it happens again. Leave it for a few hours and it works. CD drive is a bit dodgy, doesn't recognise there is a cd in the drive, and sometimes it doesn't eject. They also come with a CRAPOLA of un-needed software. I'm sure though, if you take good care of it and pay that little bit extra for better stuff you won't have any worries. http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
June 27, 200915 yr Author Planing to install XP as it ships with vista has anyone experience any issues doing this?
June 27, 200915 yr as long as the hardware has xp driver installs for it, there should be no problem. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.
