Posted June 21, 200915 yr Does it bother anyone when a player starts a squad with no intention of actually leading it. Ether they drop out and rejoin, leaving you in charge of the squad or drop out when the going gets tough. I can understand technical issues but don't start a squad if you don't intend to lead it for the whole round. I don't regularly lead a squad but when I do it's a commitment to be there till the end.
June 21, 200915 yr I think it's OK when no-one wants to SL, yet a fair number of people want kits (though their squad name should indicate this is their intention).
June 21, 200915 yr I don't regularly lead a squad but when I do it's a commitment to be there till the end. Unless I rage quit mid round, occurring rather often of late. Psyrus has taught me well Edited June 21, 200915 yr by rohan11221 Evil Shenanigans!
June 21, 200915 yr Various reasons it happens, just to get kits, SL see mates in another squad leaves to join ect, annoying is when a SQ of 5 has everyone bail and join over and over trying to avoid SLíng PITA when it happens like that http://matt.itsthemadhouse.com/na/sigs/na-sig-gruanch5.png http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/bulletmagnet.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/gren.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/ocrs.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg
June 21, 200915 yr i leave all the time and i have made posts apologising for it before. i wait, and wait, for there to be no unassigned people at round start. if there are, i will create a squad and hope the lonewolves join. i play when my daughter sleeps through the day, so as soon as she wakes up, i leave and it's very, very sudden. so sorry for that. i left yesterday on archer when squad leading, i left today when i had a rpg on a cache. i usually warn i'm leaving and put a marker on my body so people can grab my kit. hopefully today, someone grabbed the rpg i dropped on quit. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.
June 21, 200915 yr If someone makes a squad and then leaves/joins when it gets full, I just kick them out, and lock the squad. http://www.bigdgaming.net/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=720&dateline=1226123908
June 21, 200915 yr If someone makes a squad and then leaves/joins when it gets full, I just kick them out, and lock the squad. Exactly what I do. But if I don't want to lead I will make a squad called "I dont lead" or "not leading". http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/varan92/sc_ii_2.png
June 21, 200915 yr Has anyone thought about the fact that maybe the people who do this are searching for leaders? ie. people who can teach them how to play? It's funny how it says in the manual - "there's always plenty of veterans to show you the ropes" (or something like that). And here we are, players in seasoned clans LOCKING our bloody squads to the newbies because "they're annoying". Oh boohoo. The behavior that you are all whinging about is because we cannot get our [stuff] together. Have we become some internet clique? Christ, I'm just as bad, the last thing I feel like doing is meeting new people, and then leading them. It was once an honor to be SL - these are sad days. Its like turning up to boot camp, and finding all the officers huddling in a group, whispering to each other, and casting stares at the "outsiders". This is PR, it wasn't meant to be easy, so make the most of it. I'm gonna shut up now...
June 21, 200915 yr its ok, i got it Some person said over Mumble that someone was coming and I saw you in your techie driving my direction. No time to confirm, glad you got it. Did we end up losing that cache? http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. A little off topic but I agree that players in seasoned clans locking squads is becoming much more common than in the early days of PR. It's certainly justifiable if you intend to fill the squad with you clan buddies but I'm seeing locked clan squads of 4 and 5. It probably wouldn't hurt to allow noobs to fill the vacant spots and if they don't work out you can always kick them from the squad. This whole PR thing will eventually fizzle out without noobs so I think they need to be shown how or it will degenerate into BF2. Perhaps I will start leading more noob squads myself though I'm far from the best player around.
June 22, 200915 yr ive only playd since .8 and im not much of a leader.....or a follower but when i try to make a squad on the rare ocasion normlay my squad dnt listn sept for the regs i play with so i cant be botherd with nubs tho i try to teach but all they want is the BAZOKA or SNIPA....so i normally just join a regs squad http://www.users.on.net/~beljas/sigs/devilz.png
June 22, 200915 yr I find myself squad leading these days, It's mostly nubs with at least one regular. The nubs don't really bother me, they just want to learn how to play and I show them how. It's the twelve year old kids that really annoy me. There are a few that try to frequent my squads saying "CAN I HAZ SNIPER KIT I AM RELLY PRO" and then later on in team chat "WHY KIK ME I HAZ SNIPER U NOOB." That is what makes me rage.
June 22, 200915 yr Author I feel your pain brother. The same things have happened to me. I recommend that we lay down the law before the start of the round about how squad members can behave. If they don't like it they can leave now before the round starts and if they break your rules during the game, warn them then kick them from the squad. They'll soon learn to play by your rules or play elsewhere else. Most of these problems come from squad leaders being too laid back. I'm not saying that you need to use your angry voice but set rules and stick to them.
June 22, 200915 yr I have been squad leading for a long time now, I find it to be the easiest thing for me in PR. When I have clannies on, I'll invite them all, then unlock. HOWEVER, people without VOIP, and people who simply want to do their own thing is so common now I fail to see why you get angry at us squad leaders. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
June 22, 200915 yr ...warn them then kick them from the squad...I'm not saying that you need to use your angry voice but set rules and stick to them. +1 I think three things important for squad leading i.) Not caring about criticism ii.) Being able to kick if it comes to it iii.) Being able to take advice from squaddies either act/ dont act within reason Most players know to adhere to an SL'ers requests, and those that dont, you just boot (within reason). There is no tissue issues with me about other players, if they dont do as I say (within reasonable grounds), then I kick. Most new players in PR, with VOIP are VERY responsive, and VERY reasonable , even if they may not have many hours in PR. So its really not that hard. You just gotta be comfortable with the kick...and maaaybe on the rare occasion to cop some i know this cos i mostly squad lead unlocked, and so many of the people ive played with im not familiar with... but meh. sl'ing is good fun. i like it Edited June 22, 200915 yr by Hambang101 http://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/spambot.bmp http://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/whatthe.bmp The Bee Zed Zed

From you post it looks as though you are the model squad leader. Can I join your squad next time? I agree with you about the VOIP and "do your own thin" issues. I wouln't kick someone for not having VOIP (though it isn't good) but I would if they didn't work with the squad. Real squad leader arn't the problem it's squad non leaders. For me all of the fun in PR is in the teamwork.
