Well there have been a few threads started looking for advice on destinations to travel to in specific areas. For those of us that aren't positive on where we're traveling to in our time off. I thought this might be a good idea. I have 2 weeks off coming up and am looking to get away for the majority of it.

Basically just post up your fav holiday spots. Maybe give a rough idea on how long to stay there for as well.

I've found if you like hippies and/or backpackers you gotta go to Airlie Beach or Byron Bay. Been at both for over a week each through summer and still found things to keep me occupied.

If your looking to travel in/to or around QLD I strongly suggest you try out the Maleny/Montville area. Its in the Queensland hinterlands is a 2/3 hour scenic drive from Brisbane depending on how you choose to get our there. I have personally stayed at Michel Chalets run by a wonderful couple who are very accommodating. All in all a great day trip, weekend or longer area to stay in. ;)

Instead of Byron, go to a little town called Yamba. Its what Byron Bay was 10 years ago.

Its my hometown, and generally we hate tourists, but for you guys, I'll make an exception.

Also good for a pure camping holiday, go to North-West Island in the Barrier Reef. Bout 8 hrs by Barge, no man made structures except compost toilets. Best beach/fishing holiday ever.

I will also throw out there Somerset region its about a hour out of Brisbane and has 3 wonderful fresh water dams and there is plenty to do.

If your in WA, plenty of spots to visit.

Pemberton, great place to stay and hang out with friends, lots of wineries around and a trout fishing place (RIP OFF is the name of the word there, you pay ~$15/kg and most of the fish they have are around the 3kg mark and you HAVE to pay for what you catch!). Stayed at a little place just out of town, lovely little villas with log firs, timber everywhere and the bloke who runs it does a wood load for you every morning. Have some alpacas for the kids to enjoy feeding (if you get up early nuff). Spent a week there but needed longer imo.

Coral Bay - great if you like fishing an swimming or just bumming on a beach, crap if you want to do anything else tho. highly recommend it, stayed there a few times now and is just very relaxing snorkling all day long, all day, all day, all day loooonng, all day, all day . . . er yeah, good spot to visit. Honeymooned there, anniversaried there plus just went on a holiday (1 week each time but would've liked longer)

Dunsborough - not as busy as Bussleton, still has that small town fell but is close enough to Margaret River, Augusta and Yallingup that you can drive round and check things out. Place we stayed at you rented out massive houses (went with my mum n dad, sister, other sister plus her hubby n two boys as well as the wife n kid and there was still room for more in there!) so is great if you want to go someplace with friends that you can stand hanging out with for a while. Stayed there for a week, longer would've been nicer tho.

Lots of other places to visit tho but no time to write bout em . . . okay cant really be bothered just now (o:

There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.

yeah but this is the internet' date=' you have to expect the unexpected or else you'll get caught out by things you should've expected but didn't. Its exactly like knowing about the stuff you dont know about, that way you know theres stuff you dont know so when you know what you dont know you can say "ah i knew that!"[/quote']
