Posted October 2, 200816 yr http://www.defence.gov.au/news/armynews/editions/1173/features/centre01.htm Don't take the title seriously, just found this interesting story about the Duke of Gloucester Cup competition held that comprised of teams from 2RAR, 4RAR and 7RAR. If you don't feel like reading the article here's the runnings: Best section overall – 2RAR MacDonald Trophy (for best in night navigation and night shooting) – 2RAR Falling Plate Trophy (best in falling plate shoot) – 2RAR Gurkha Trophy (best in overall shooting) – 2RAR OSCMAR Trophy – (best urban assault) – 4RAR (Cdo). Next time you hear someone say "Oh I'm just going to go inf for a few years and then go commando" like infantry is nothing....give em a smack across the face. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/valour.gifhttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5224/operationcrownribbon02py7.jpg yeaaa booooy.

October 3, 200816 yr HaHa finally found it. So what the hell does FallenPlate mean anyway's ??? And where did it come from ??? Its a type of Army rifle practice (I was a Platoon Commander in the Army Reserves). Instead of paper targets at 200-300m, small 10" square 0.5" thick steel plates (painted white) and welded to a 2" wide "foot" (like an upsidedown T) are just balanced on any old bit of ground at 50-100m and shot at. If you hit the plate (about as hard as a head shot at that range) it falls over and your scored by how many plates you or your team drops. Its called " a falling plate shoot" as in "Platoon! we are going to do a timed 15K forced march in full patrol order to this spot on the map and then do a falling plate shoot ". Why ? well as I die so often in PR I feel like a Fallenplate ! http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
