Ross Kemp in Afghanistan

 

On 21 January 2008, Sky broadcast the first episode of a five-part series Ross Kemp in Afghanistan, which entails Kemp following the 1st Battalion of the British Army's Royal Anglian Regiment during their deployment to Afghanistan's Helmand Province from March to August 2007. In preparation for the assignment, Kemp had to participate in military training for personal defence, including use of the SA80 assault rifle. Kemp has a personal interest in the East Anglians, as he is from their recruiting area, and his father served with their predecessor regiment, the Royal Norfolk Regiment, in Cyprus.

Got to love these sort of documentary's that show how soldiers think and especially how they talk up and down the line.

Regardless, just dont do it - there is nothing to be gained other than someone taking it the wrong way which then causes trouble for all. Its gone on long enough.

Sure is, Ive seen afew from him, prison gang documentaries etc aswell.

That Commandos one Mr (hehe) is pretty good. Will have to find some time to watch this one.

 

Anyone know if there are any on the ADF in the modern fields?

That has got to be the worst ****ing show in the history of British shows!

and no there isnt any shows similiar to the pom docs viewing our lads.

That show like most got better towards the end. The 1st few episodes were really bad but the one close to the end where they had to extract some VIPS from somewhere in Africa was pretty cool. Lots of lead down range and lots of 203's. Nice!

 

I have downloaded and/or viewed most of what is around regarding docos on Iraq and A-stan and I would rate RKiA as one of the best. Commandos was great as well. Taking on the Taliban is one of my favourites. I love the 2 minute history of the current conflict in Afghanistan Ross gives while he is on the plane flying in. It's probably one of the best briefs on the situation I have ever heard and makes it very easy to explain to others what is going on over there as well.

 

I heard a rumour he is doing a followup doco as well and can't wait to see that.

yeh i liked it , only because tv in nz is such crap these shows are a breath of fresh air .

spew they dont do any on our forces . . . prolly that "security reasons" thing we always hear about. Fair nuf i spose but would be nice to have something that shows what our digs are going through etc (like that reporter who put up some short clips of various forces in Astan).

 

oh well, renewed my sub to A&NZ Defender, so will have to contend myself with the photoreports from JH Farrell.

Not much different in Aust mate. I rarely watch anything on TV anymore. Spend more time on youtube these days.
