That HD trailor you posted was awesome tho . . . sorry to disapoint but they were Blood Angels, not Templars (Templars are black with white shoulder guards with the Templar cross on it).

I loved the effect of the Eldar Warp Spider running in, never could imagine how they'd be good in an attack but that was awesome. Banshees were a little underwhelming tho. The Lictor was absolutely grouse!!!:fans:

They're not Blood Angels, they're Blood Ravens. I think they made the Chapter up for the game.

Here is a list of particularly awesome things:

dogs

sniping

very spicy chilli

cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)

Nah, Blood Ravens are a sub-chapter of the Blood Angles (double winged blood drop - http://www.games-workshop.com.au/games/40k/bloodangels/background/bloodangels.htm) and you are correct, paused the HD vid just after the Capt killed the Eldar Psycher an it is a black raven background to blood drop which iirc is the Blood Ravens.

Blood Ravens - While not referencing the Blood Angels as such, pretty much any chapter that was based around the 'blood drop' was considered a Blood Angels decendant (well back when i was REALY into it they were (o: ) http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Blood_Ravens http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Marines_(Warhammer_40,000)

Sigh...I played Templars since 2002 o.O! Im saying Black Templars FOR THE MUDDA ****ER WIN COS ITS MARINES FEATURED IN THE GAME!! Arg!!

And besides If you read carefully In the Templar Codex Templars dont withdraw= So thats another point of the BAs/BRs falling back.

Still reckon they could have made it a little bit better like a Black screen and and the doors of a Thunderhawk doors drop down and your looking left to rightand marines running everywhere screaming all the heroic ****. Sick of seeing MArines squads get their asses handed to them bring in the Templars! NO WITHDRAWL! NO FEAR NO REMORSE!

Best bit tho is where the Squad leader elbows the bitch in the gutts :p Priceless Marine style!

Yeah, I think the Blood Ravens big claim to fame is being the featured Chapter in the DOW series. They're easy to spot cause they have that bone colour on their shoulder pads where as Blood Angels have red.

I must admit seeing a snow intro with SW would be alright :p need to see a Land Raider roll in tho at some stage.

PS: A Movie is being made W40k, and not its not "Blood Quest". But its being previewed well a little snap at the Games day in England this Year :D.

SW are okay but i had to make my own up (based on the lost 2nd chapter that is) (o:

Movies sounds good, back in 95 i had thoughts of a great flick but damn it would've needed a lot of good cg to pull off (else a spectacular sfx budget!), but they have to do it right else it'll just be crap . . . kinda like Starship Troopers (crap but still love it (o: )

Thats an example of what kinda games im not into.. lol.. Altho if game play with multiplayer is extreme GOOODness I usually may.. give it a try.
Fear is another word for weakness.
Oh its good alrite, no tank rush ala C&C (plus offshoots). As you only gain points etc by capturing control points you HAVE to move out so it provokes a 'non-turtling' type of game play (o:

Yeah there is no question about it the campaign playable space marine force will be the Blood Ravens again. I'm pretty sure someone mentioned they were created entirely for the original dawn of war series earlier and I will confirm this. The reason behind it was that it allowed them complete creative freedom to make up a new playing style and folklore/history. The development team always knew that they would have trouble bringing a table top game to computer without dealing with allot of extra issues that have nothing to do with gameplay. Especially if you think about how crazy some players, collectors and gurus get about this game franchise I know I can easily under stand that they didn't want to deal with conflicting story's or confining there ability to create a interesting campaign just because someone says "NO THE --- Insert which every existing and well known space marine chapter they like here --- WOULDN'T DO THAT" In my opinion the development team did a great job on the previous series and if this is anywhere near as well made then I will certainly buy it.

That said here are the things I really want to know.

  1. Will there be a more intrusive cover system like they created in company of heroes? *1
  2. How will the new games combat system work they previous game in my opinion had a serious issue with being a numbers game. *2
  3. System requirements PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE run on my current machine I am super poor and I want to play it.

*1 - If you didn't already know this game is being built off a new and improved version of the same engine they created company of heroes on.

*2 - In this I mean say my ork nob is wailing upon your space marine sergeant they both have comparable weapons one has a chain sword and a bolt pistol while the nob has the orkish version. The winner will simply be which ever one runs out of health first. The entire game was a rush to get either 1 superior numbers or 2 superior fire-power in form of vehicles or upgrades. I'm hoping the new game has a new system especially since there finally putting in the true HOARD army the tryanids.

PS best space marine chapter is the Salamanders & imperial guard regiment is the Praetorians if your playing anything else your doing it WRONG.

If your computer can't run CoH it probably won't run DoW2. I don't like the table top game but all the back-stories are ace.

Yeeeaaaaah they were created for the DoW series . . . BUT they are also a decendant of the Blood Angels imo (refer blood tear drop in insignia).

With your point 2, yeah there was an issue with the balance part BUT they also limited the amount of troops per side (Imperial Guard & Orks both had a huge numerical advantage of SM and Eldar) to reflect the tt versions better.

Imperial Guard & Ork - v large armies fight en-mass

SM & Eldar - special forces type troops, both strong than the other two hence you can only have a smaller number (slightly more for Eldar as they arent as strong as the SM)

It will be interesting to see how they incorporate Tyranids tho as they are pretty much the epitomy of search n destroy troops, their only goal is to absorb everything into the Hive so they have no need for control points etc. Be good if they played similar to the tt version in that you start out with a set size and once a unit is destroyed it comes back as a reinforcement after a set period of time.

-1 to Salamaders

Wolverines = FTW!!!

other SM Chapters = fail epicly (o;

PS really enjoyed playing the Tau an Necron in Dark Crusade, the Tau Drone ship was an absolute show stopper if you had good resources behind you as you just pump out the drones and everything just dies! The Necron resurrection power for the Necron Lord was awesome, you pretty much let your troops die in a battle, rebuild go back in an while they're fighting use the resurrection power to double your army straight away (unit limit has no effect in this senario!) My pc can run COH fine it does occasionally chugs up due to the fact I still run a AGP card and I have a old CPU but what can you do.

Not to nick pick or go into a 20 page rant and turn this in black library forums but the fellows over at games workshop & the dawn of war development team have always said in no uncertain terms that they will not tell use from where the blood ravens gene seed first came. The only thing anyone can truly know about them is that they were not a first founding and from there the conspiracy nuts throw the ball around all day. Hell I saw something while I was double checking my facts where someone said there gene seed is either taken from a traitor legion or the grey knights. Its all a little over the top for me there is only one answer they were created by the game development team so they wouldn't have to deal with this very situation.

BTW McDethWivFries your avatar is keeps bugging me since I keep thinking your one of the old admins Ablack he had that same avatar might still do I'm not sure anyway that's obviously no fault of your own. Your giant signature however you really could do without it. Just for the record this isn't me having a dig at you just throwing my point of view out there no offence intended.

and sif moar cowbell is best you seen the vid?

Sorry Zardev did you try to QUOTE my post because if so you have removed the necessary tag's in which you need to have in order to do it. Anyway without going into to much detail about why I currently don't have any money let me just say a new pc or upgrade is currently not possible. The reason I want to know about the specs for the game is because I think the new effects may be a little to much for my current rig and I would hate to buy the game just to find out I can't run it.

As for the comment about the McDethWivFries signature its not the relevance that I question its the size and the fact that I find the size and animation to be distracting. As a in game admin & moderator I could just as easily be a tyrant and remove his signature and have him disallowed from using another. However that would be a petty and simply a silly thing to do so I just mentioned it here.

1. Yes there will be, think CoH but more advanced. Enterable buildings, fully destructible objects, deformable terrain, etc.

2. Similar to CoH this game focuses much more on tactics than numbers or stats, how you use your troops will be more important than how many you have. Think how in CoH a single MG nest can pin multiple squads of infantry no problem. However the game seems that it will focus on even smaller numbers of troops than CoH which I personally think sort of goes against the whole WH 40,000 theme of massive apocalyptic battles. (look at any fan art of a 40k battle to get an idea of what I mean).

3. If you can run CoH on high flawlessly I think you should be fine for DoW 2, it is the same engine after all and it will be rendering fewer troops at any one time.

CoH is actually a prick of a thing to run at full high settings. Especially if you're playing multiplayer.

My good computer struggles with it sometimes with all the effects up and DoW 2 looks like it's got even more eye candy in it but you should be able to run it at medium/low settings.

Does anyone still play CoH? Hit me up for a game sometime if you do. Play as RushHard online.

Also, the 40k backstory continuity is FUBAR. Especially with the extended universe novels that are around nowadays aswell.
