Is video embeding going to be allowed anytime soon? Want to show vids from game and its pretty annoying to only post and use 3rd party links.

I support the suggested product and/or idea.

Thought I'd mention something that may be some people aren't aware of.

 

You can use a Greasemonkey script to embed videos into pages such as these. For example, all the youtube links people post on this site, I see in-line.

 

 

 

Install Greasemonkey.

 

Then, once Greasemonkey is installed, install Videoembed. Little button on the top right of the page.

 

 

Below is a list of videos that will embed into the page you are viewing. Note: If people have youtube links in their sigs, it makes them much larger. Otherwise, it does an excellent job.

I think it is funny you want the video embedded with the amount of war footage that is posted and the complaints about it. I think linking is the best option as you can warn about the content.

Ther is to be no more posting of offensive material as per Admin request so wegame embeds should be only game clips

Embeding videos into a forum isn't as easy as flicking a switch(unless the right mod has been installed).

 

Some mods for forum software take a fair amount of time to install and you have to becareful they don't interfear with already installed mods.

Why not just post the link?

Seems easy, but I think what they mean is for like wegame it saves uploading to the site and then posting link, just saves a step/time

Yeah I say save bytes and then you can choose to open link or not.

Why does everyone keep saying the same thing? This is for posting videos so you can view it here instead of linking to 3rd partys all the time.

 

JLycett I dont think you understand, You can still warn someone what it is, they are not forced to watch it just because its embeded.

 

Anyone asking why not just post the link should not be posting in this thread. They obviously dont understand what this thread was started for in the first place.

Embed movies dont play unless you click on them but still take extra loading time/bytes for us leppers with slow putas

I dont think it will be a problem, its going to be minimal since you havent clicked play, its not gonna start the downloading the movie.

 

Its all the same except you arent gonna load a 3rd party site.. I mainly want it to put up in game footage instead of having to tell everyone to go else where to look at it..

Thanks ACC1 I didn't understand but the other question is how much space is allocated to the forum? It could limit the amount of video aloud to be embedded.

I dare say the forum wouldn't be too limited in terms of space as Admin clean out the old threads pretty regularly, which brings me to a question for an Admin, how big a file would the random thread be with all those pics?

Yes. embed it. Nothing is hosted on the forum, Its just streaming it from another place but viewing it on the thread.. Instead of clicking to go watch the movie then come back to comment on it in the forum.

After recent videos that have been linked to, im not sure.

 

 

Seems some people can make decissions about what is appropriate.

 

Will have to look at what can be done and whether its needed or not.

Also would like some kind of moderation on videos before they go live as to avoid the situation some people find themselves in at the moment.

Or tell everyone to use Videoembed with Greasemonkey.

Possible special permission for it for me.. Since im sexy.. lol

 

I dont be embeding any R rated stuff, its gonna be gaming vids, I wanted to make a thread for in game video from aram of out tue nights.. But I dont wanna start the thread and have it full of 3rd party links you have to visit to watch the clips..
