Posted July 14, 200816 yr Anyone else in the guild beta? I'm in with Southern Cross - and will be playing around with it over the next few months (when I get time). As I'm a warhammer fantasy fanboi, I'm hoping this will be my fave online thing since sliced PRv0.75 or EVE. July 14, 200816 yr is this game worth your time and money also whats the game play like and is there a sort of trail WarOnline WIKI Edited July 14, 200816 yr by Super64 idiots are hardcoded
July 14, 200816 yr Author Still in beta testing phase Ranky. Servers for (invited) Guild beta open today apparently, so I'm not sure about worthiness and gameplay yet. I'm guessing 'yes', though. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
July 14, 200816 yr Keep my informed Wokeye I have being looking at this game for some time and need a little inside information before I try it. The real clincher will be whether its another annoying grinder game that's pay 2 play as well. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
July 14, 200816 yr Author Will do. There's a Non-disclosure agreement on beta testers that currently applies, so I wont be able to go into specifics once I start playing - until the NDA is lifted. Apparently it is being designed to have no 'grinding' to get to max level (currently 40?), at which time you PvP for progression/ranks/items/fun rather than do massive PvE raids. July 14, 200816 yr Ohh but I like the PVE not real big on getting some full time geek hammering my every time I respawn just because I've played the game 120 less hours then him. >_< http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
July 14, 200816 yr i hope mass will always be able to bring down the one gaint like EVE idiots are hardcoded
July 14, 200816 yr The same Warhammer I just read about on Slashdot? Removing a crap load of content to push it out on time? Has nothing to do with EA, honest? http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.
July 14, 200816 yr Author hehe yes the same. Lucky they still have 20 classes left - AoC had 12 at start Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
July 15, 200816 yr O god im going to rage massive if they bring out stuff like Chaos Khonre mages BUT i will play if i can become a bloodthirster idiots are hardcoded
July 15, 200816 yr Author Chaos Tzeentch Magus are in the release. Khorne would be cool, hopefully they may add stuff like this. They need to offset each destruction side with an order side though, maybe Chaos Khorne vs wood elves? I would tihnk Skaven are a better option for additions than another Chaos faction. Maybe Skaven vs wood elves or Bretonia Edited July 15, 200816 yr by McCloud Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
July 15, 200816 yr Bretonnian would be a better one due to the wood elves being too neutral idiots are hardcoded
July 15, 200816 yr I don't think they will do Khorne as they said that it has been overdone and is the main chaos faction in every other warhammer game and they wanted to do something new and different, and they are right IMO. Tzeentch sounds like a cool change IMO I normally wouldn't play chaos but maybe the lord of change can persuade me Though I personally would like to see the Bretonnian faction instead of Empire. And I would absolutely love to see the Lizardmen make an appearance as well as the tomb kings (undead) though I think they are going to be used as PvE enemies IIRC.
July 15, 200816 yr but with the Brentonnians they are very mount heavy so i ask are they going to do mounts idiots are hardcoded
July 15, 200816 yr Author yes, they are! http://www.warhammeronline.com/newsletterarchive/2007/November2007.html Very cool! Edited July 15, 200816 yr by McCloud Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
August 6, 200816 yr Author Release dates for this game are now set to Sept 18th! w00t! As for PvP vs powerlevellers, there's PvP opportunities along the way - ie there are segregated areas for each level range (eg 1-11, 12-20 etc). Also, gear is not as overpowered vs abilities, so it will be based on teamplay over powerlevellers/gear farmers. Dont know about the endgame PvP though. It wont be a race to level 40 before you can 'enjoy' the game. Oceanic server (east coast of Australia) will be ready at release. Looks to be $15/month as is typical of MMOs. I'm hoping this game's gonna smash WoW... Edited August 6, 200816 yr by McCloud Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
August 7, 200816 yr it better be better then wow even if i have never played wow what you should do is try to start a corp/clan/angry mob now and get them to start working together idiots are hardcoded
August 20, 200816 yr Author The NDA on the Beta testing for this game is now lifted. If anyone wants to know anything I can answer you now Overall: this is a great fantasy MMORPG, will be competitive vs WoW IMO. With its factional PvP-orientated late game, it may have more lasting appeal than the primarily PvE (raiding) WoW. There's still plenty of PvE too. ...oh, and Warhammer FTW. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
August 20, 200816 yr Is there lots of grinding? Cos thats seen the end of many a MMO for me. I've already got one job. Don't need another in my spare time. The classes also seem a bit funner to play than other MMO's. Are they? Or do they just look good on paper? Cos most MMO classes play the same regardless of what game your playing. Here is a list of particularly awesome things: dogs sniping very spicy chilli cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)
August 20, 200816 yr Author There are enough quests and you get enough experience from PvP that you don't have to grind. I haven't found myself grinding yet. It is quite a 'fun' MMO, eg the 'squig herder' class that actually gets to travel in the belly of a squig, to the orc shaman etc, Some fo the quests are fun, too (eg carrying beer kegs to a giant to get him to smash your enemies). The character customisation is very good visually, but in terms of actual stats/skills is limited. There are 20 classes (a lot), and three specialisations possible for each class at higher levels. Gear is limited to classes, too...this is probably the main thing I want further addressed, really...to increase the feeling of being 'unique' among players. August 20, 200816 yr Author What side are you going? By that name, I'd assume Destruction. We should team up (I'm in Southern Cross). Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
August 21, 200816 yr I received my beta invite 2 weeks ago...my wow sub is going out the window I went the underdogs, Order...I have to say going up against 3+ Disciples in a scenario is the equivalent of a lvl 70 camping a lvl 24 in wow
August 24, 200816 yr http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/flash/WAR_cinematic_08.html New trailer is awesome. Thank god they put another Greater Demon other than a Bloodthirster. Love that goblin squig herder guy. Here is a list of particularly awesome things: dogs sniping very spicy chilli cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)
August 24, 200816 yr Author yeah Khorne is not the focus of the Chaos faction, Tzeench (?) the god of change etc is. He seems to also be the god of asymmetrical gay bird pride. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
