The Place to get Cheap Hardware

MSY Pty Ltd

http://www.msy.com.au/

They have branches in Vic, NSW, QLD and SA - but mainly based in Vic. These guys by far have the cheapest hardware around from what I've seen.

Their service is shoddy (as in they won't easily sit you down and give advice on what you need), so you have to be a bit of a tech-head and know what you want, but yes - cheap cheap cheap.

Cheap but if you get anything that's not working, it'll be a nightmare to replace it.

Damn straight, I have never have anything break from MSY, but I have seen people in there trying to get warranty....looks like a nightmare!

Oh I lied, my MoBo and GFX fried themselves....I just bought new ones. Hehe.

I moved into central Melbourne now so I don't goto MSY, i now use Computer Parts Land or CPL in West Melbourne....they have excellent service and it is an extremely professional shop. Nice layout, they don't have boxes everywhere stacked to the ceiling like MSY, lol. I have also done some returns there....painless, again great service.

Brisbane based I use http://www.umart.com.au/ I'm pretty sure they have good import connections cause there prices are generally unmatched. Although like all good cheap easy to collect from computer store's you take something to them there products 'broke' or a 'broken' product expect to be d**ked around.

MSY are cheap at alot of gear, but there are a fair few other stores who will beat their prices, and you'll get alot better service (like someone answering the phone)

If you're in sydney theres a place called TX Computers who are in the same complex as the lidcombe/auburn MSY and they will generally match MSY's prices or come very close to them and you wont have to wait in line for an hour either.

hehehe...not intentional! Promise! I have no affiliation with msy, apart from living within walking distance from a branch.

Just trying to help out poor (literally) PR players.

Being out in the sticks, I have to buy all my puter parts via the internet or phone.

I use Staticice to seek prices.

I've found Umart (sydney), Pluscorp and Cormain (ADSL parts) to be excellent. Nintek to be good but had some lengthy delays as they dont keep a lot of stock about.

Might try ringing those TX guys next time to price match MSY.

Fluidtek is pretty cheap if you're in Syd

Your telling me. I bought my whole PC from them(they where the cheapest @ the time) & with in 2 weeks my video card(Asus 128mb 6800GT) & motherboard(MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum ) where dead :(.

Took 4 weeks to get my replacements. When they came back the video card was a 6800(not a 6800GT) & the motherboard IDE ports where dead, so i had to send both off again  .

Fast forward another 3 weeks & the new parts arrive, but they fucked up AGAIN!!!!. The video card was fine but the dickhead MSY tech guy blew the motherboard when he pluged the PSU into it when he was testing it.

He even had the nerve to tell me that he has to rma it again. I told him nicely to fuck off, that there was no way in hell i was going to wait another 3-4weeks since HE FUCKED the motherboard up :). 10mins later i have a shiny new m/b :D.

Still have the PC parts i got off them minus the 128mb 6800GT which i sold & then bought a 6800Ultra :)
