people who want in on the filming should also make sure you have a nice recording program such as fraps

 

Also, please post if you have a computer capable of running graphics on high as this is a trailer being made and the best quality would be needed. Battledirector films are also very demanding on a PC as it is a free-cam perspective loading alot of detail at any one time.

*Even if you dont have a rig capable of running at medium/high, your services are needed because we need actors =) who can follow orders, people who would like to record voice-overs for playback and use in the trailer, and as you can still record a Battledirector file and hand it over to editors who can run the footage on high.

Ill give people a simple run down on Battledirector if they wish, as the program itself can mess up the BF2 directory if not used properly. Controlling the camera in the B.D. free-cam is pretty easy but takes some getting used to.

It's a very simple program It's the video editing that can become a PITA

well battledirector runs directly through bf2 itself, so if you exit it from the window, alt-f4 or in task manager, you will permantly corrupt the bf2 files and have to re-install. The rcon console has the command "demo.shutdowndemo" which is the only safe way to exit.

Slavak I can run it maxed out, so put me at high quality footage, but also, the battledirector footage itself lags if there are too many people. The max people should be 32 so booking the GSA 2# small server would do nicely. We would also have to get everybody to install the training maps because this would give us a massive flexibility with filming vehicles, and getting some very nice scenes like two to three A-10's etc

I can be an actor.

 

Obviously, the person that does the editing of the BR, doesn't need to run high while acting, just when FRAPSing. Only first-person perspectives need to be FRAPSed by people who can run High to Ultra-High.

 

So, if you have a poor computer, don't be swayed by it. You can still be involved. You can even FRAPS BR files on high settings with a crappy computer.

 

Only 1 person should really do the filming off the BR, moving around RAW files over the internets would be a killer.

I have Fraps(sounds like a skin disease?!),and can run pretty good quality Vid.

 

And if you do end up using a gsa server to film it, I can do the Admin chores.

tried it today... i went from the usuall 75 - 85fps down to 20 - 35 fps when recording was on!!!

 

and i replayed the recordings and they were all jumpy!

That's odd.

 

It's best to set FPS at 30 as that is what most online content is (15/30) and do half-resolution.

 

I can record FRAPS when my normal framerate is lower than 30 and not get jumpy footage.

Most, if not all of the filming will probably be done in battledirector.

Also, fraps defaults to 25fps recording afaik, so it will limit your FPS to 25 (or whatever you set it to) when you're recording. I have mine set at 60, and records at 1/2 of [1680x1050] so 840x525, at a constant 60fps... although my frames usually hover at about 130-250 depending on scene.

Edit: Beware though, settings like mine hurt your HDD space... a 27sec clip with 840x525 @ 60fps takes 407MB; not for the feint of harddrive
