Anyone interested in a chopper/Jet training night sometime soon? Since we switched to Kashan 32, ive noticed that the attack choppers go a little underutilized, (by that I mean either used by idiots, or not at all). I must admit, I can fly fine, but I have never gunned for fear of being yelled at for being useless. So Even if im flying, I dont know what the gunner can/can't see. Also, I dont know where I should sit for max effect etc. Anyone interested in booking server 2 or something and prac'ing with choppers or jets? We could prac designating and acting on CAS requests. Of course we need people who can fly and gun to teach, which means they need to be available and stuff, but I think this would be useful.

What you really need is a custom version of Kashan with quick spawning aircraft. Waiting 20 minutes for stuff to spawn isn't that cool.

Will teach if required. I can also admin (reset/restart the map) if required.

 

Also the standard kashan should be ok as long as you have mature players who don't crash all the choppers.

It's running Kashan 32pl training map, so you'll have access to all the usual assets, but not the crazy ones in the 64pl map. To join the server you will need the training pack which can be downloaded here:

Best idea would be to post here, say you're waiting in teamspeak and then just go about your day until someone joins teamspeak with you, both connect to the server and give it a go

The only problem with that headhunter, is that it's really inconvenient to have to wait 20 minutes for the chopper practise each time. The training maps fix this, but require a change to your local server config files which I believe is a violation of the T&C of running the server files, unless you make the server private (passworded). That's the whole reason I went to the effort of getting the server license and spending ages trying to get everything set up properly.

Training server is really where you want to be. Instant spawn for everything, including yourself!

Do you have the training mod Psy was talkin bout a few posts back? That would explain the ctd's. Other than that I suggest formatting windows and hitting the mainboard with a hammer a few times till it works.

this idea sounds pretty sweet. I'd love to take part in this. I personally love flying - choppers in particular but its the age old practice makes perfect and you can't really practice effectively with yourself (no sexual pun intended).

Yeah I spent quite a while playing by myself on the training maps, will be good to get in them with some people so we can practice fast landing, evasive manouvres while actually being chased etc.

yeah we had a great time yesterday with about 8 ppl. ive practically never had a dogfight in pr b4 so its really cool. and trust me, if your getting chased you won't be able to land unless you've got some serious AA support.

Lasing targets (or hitting lased targets) and dogfighting are some pretty good examples of stuff that is difficult to practise by yourself, and even if you do want to prac in game, its usually at the expense of a good pilot, putting your team at a disadvantage and making everyone hate on you

 

I know myself that im competent in the air, not quite Psyrus yet, but im ok. but i never want to ggrab air assets in game lest I ruin life for everyone else. So I usually stay out, meaning I have little--no battle experience. Which sucks. Hopefully some time in the prac server will fix that.

Im a fairly competent pilot - flying is what i live for and before headhunter reads this and has a go at me, im updating my computer as i can't fly nearly as offensive as id like as im wary of possible lag spikes. anyway cut a long story short, im getting a new $600 graphics card which will make it easier to fly as well as more fun. Is there any realistic possibilty of having an air practice server on at some time/s?

I am on the server now, it is on norm kashan 32 not the training version :S
