Can't say I am particularly flash at the CQB maps, or just in tight areas in general. I usually walk around a congested area and don't know if it's an enemy crouched behind the box and by then I am shot.

 

I'd hate to TK a teamie that's like a few metres away.

It only comes with practice. For CQB, your best bet is to know where your teammates are by using your minimap, and by learning uniforms. That way, if you see an person where your sure friendlies aren't, its probably a bad guy. Being backed up by positive visual confirmation from their uniforms (all factions have their unique uniforms compared to the opposing team), you can easily identify friendlies and enemies. But still, it all comes with practice.

 

As for medium/long range, spot, check your minimap, if its a question mark near/on friendlies, don't shoot, if its a question mark near no friendlies, shoot, if its an enemy, well shoot. But of course, don't shoot if your being covert (sneaky sneaky )

Watch your mini map, change it using 'N' to the best size considering what your doing, ranged you want the large view, close quarters the smallest. Remember before you shoot at anything that you have seen as a enemy through what there wearing press 'Q' and spot them you will quickly learn the right reponse it goes something like 'enemy troop's spotted' however if it goes "Enemy forces spotted" your most likely shooting at team mate.

 

Also remember in this game its not always your mission to get the first shot off maintaining your position spotting the enemy and confirming them to be the enemy is your mission, let your team help handle any enemy with good infantry tactics.

 

Last tip if you have any doubts press 'Caplocks' yes the menu that brings up the squad menu open all the squads so you can see all the players and use this LARGE map to to check where your spotting you will be able to see all friendly in a radius of about 200m's.

Not much more advice that can be given that hasn't already been conveyed. All you gotta do is look at the uniforms and familiarise yourself with how they look at medium to long range.

 

I have my Minimap Zoom key bound to the Windows Key, and my Map key bound to Alt. This gives me full control over the map at all times, although I think Squad Leaders tend to use it more.

Listen for the gun sounds. Learn them. You can tell if it's an enemy by the noise of it's gun. But make sure you spot before you shoot. It could be a friendly using stolen weaponry.

 

Also, at range, when the character models only render in low detail, US will be a light, tan colour, MEC will be a darker brown colour and PLA will be some bastardisation of the MEC colour.

Haha remember when playing jungle maps with PLA Vs USMC to spot before you shot since just shooting the green ones won't work on those maps, wait 1 expection if your US and you see a red beret SPRAY AND PRAY.

The shotgun is your friend in jungle maps, that's all I have to say.

 

Also, and I'm aware of myself doing this but do the enemy hear you when you call out 'spotted' (or whatever). I know you can hear someone call out 'grenade', but what of the other Commo rose commands?

Yeah, if you are close enough you can hear the enemy call out stuff.

Very useful if you know the enemy grenade call.

One of the best tips is to always stay with your squad where possible.

If everyone does this then you know that 'everybody else' is something to shoot at. Move in a staggered line and you can shoot up anything that moves, in front of you.

Definately check your map before moving out too. If you know there are not friendlies up ahead then whatever you see must be hostile.

That is one of my favorite tricks pick up a enemy kit and find a good place to use it on the enemy.

The radio spotted key, default 'q' is the best one to get use to, the words are different if it's a confirmed spotting and unconfirmed is generally a teamate.

 

The main reason, though, for the spotted key is to signal to your team where the enemy is. It's kind of like a UAV and I always spot the enemy, even if I can confirm by sight because I know if I die my team know where the enemy is. If he's on the run you can watch the red dot on the mini map to work out where he is moving to and ambush him.

 

I use the CAPS LOCK key everytime I hear the confirmed spotted sound so I can check if the enemy is in my area or somewhere I can flank their position. Also when tanks are spotted coming my way I want to hide or avoid them.

 

Definately good in squad when you can tell them to look at mini map to find the guy that killed you instead of saying "he's just over there" which is useless.
