its just a massiver version of ArmA. no kidding.

also arma sucks gameplay wise it is the most unfluid feeling game i have ever played.

I haven't played anything but the demo... but is ARMA just players vs bots? Can it be played PVP? If it's just bots... I dunno~ I looked at some VBS footage and it really is a military simulator... I don't think it has a focus on fun, which is what I want when I want to relax. Retarded twitch games no longer interest me, so the tactics/teamwork involved in PR is a great mix between realism and fun.

QFT: Your computer is smart man. It tells you not to play the second worst PR map [burning Sands] (first is Wanda Shan).

QFT: if you dont get pissed off when you lose you dont care enough

You can play players vs. players or players vs. bots, or players & bots vs. players, or even bots and players vs. bots and players. The game is massively modable and the possibilities are pretty much endless, some people have made some great maps and mods.

The realism is top notch, I think the realism makes it more fun but if you don't like having to walk or drive for a while to get places as well as very quick deaths and limited respawn ability, it is not for you. The maps are HUGE, and weapons are effective out to their RL ranges, ballistics is modelled much better, and bullets HURT.

I love it, but there is simply not a big enough/mature enough community around to get together and play it with. Which makes me sad :(

I wish this community would/could get a decent size group together to play regularly.

EDIT: Note VBS = ARMA, one is the military/law enforcement version, the other is the civilian/gamer version. They are practically the same game and are both made by the same studio (Bohemia Interactive).

At the price it's not even an option.

Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. - On Gun Confiscation

I did watch the trailer though and if it was not for the price tag I would certainly have a crack at it.

I played VBS for about 4 years. It had a great but small community. And some awesome editors and mod guys. You name it anything could be done. I remember going for 4 hrs as part of a 6 man SEAL team in Iraq and as we approached a village that full of civilians we stopped for a man to move his sheep across the road only to blown sky high because one of the sheep had an IED strapped to it. We pissed ourselves for ages. Then the there was a time when we kicked in the door to a compound and got attacked by about 8 rotties. Fun!

The point is that VBS, VBS2 and to a degree ARMA are all simulators not FPS games. That's why the gamers don't like ARMA and thats why the 'simulators' don't like BF2 and PR. I like both so not sure what I am. Tolerant maybe?
