Posted January 28, 200817 yr For a top secret project that I'm working on for PR , I need some help here. Basically, I need as many as possible "PR Tips" that you can think of. I'm talking of numbers around 50-100, maybe even more if you guys can get creative, there's no limit. Please don't post stupid, immature or off topic tips here, both me and the PR devs will pick the final list of tips. For an example of what I am talking about: "Rally points take your Squad Leader, plus 2 other squad members to set up. Make sure you always stay near your Squad Leader so they can quickly set one up" Try to keep them as short as possible, since people don't like reading long bits of text. So lets say the previous example is your guide for length. Don't be afraid of posting up a few tips, the more the better, and you can have your say in PR. If your unsure if your tip is good or not, just post it up anyway. Just basically needs to be ANYTHING PR related really... K, GO! January 28, 200817 yr Author Some more examples to get you going. "If you have found a bug in PR, go to realitymod.com and post it in the "PR Bugs" section of the forums" "Squad communication is the key to success for a good squad, and a good game. If you don't have a mic or have VOIP enabled, you are limiting your squad's performance, and your team's chance at winning" "Check your map to see which CP's you need to attack or defend. Misinformation is your worst enemy on the battlefield" "If a commander asset needs building, build it as quickly as possible. Effective use of commander assets is a serious advantage to your team. Stuff like that is good. http://www.ancientdev.com/images/devsig.png
January 28, 200817 yr Teamwork and communication are the key to success, without them you will not succeed. Limited kits are valuable assets ,look after them,if a squad mate with one goes down keep the kit alive . Always have a rally point, set it asap...you can always move it later.... Ammunition is scarce on the Battlefield, make sure you have at LEAST 1 rifleman in your squad and know where the nearest resupply point is located. Theres a couple of basic ones... http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif
January 28, 200817 yr ok, heres some iv noticed. the first 1 isnt a joke and should be at the tope of the list. "ALWAYS DO AS COMMANDER SAYS! IF YOU IGNORE HIM ONCE THEN HIS STRATEGY FAILS AND HIS STRATEGY INVOLVES YOU. WHICH MEANS YOU FAIL!" "rally points are best placed behind trees and large bushes. no matter how high someone has their graphics the grass will vanish at a distance. just behind medium sized bushes is always assured a permanent camo" "the grenadier kit has been forgoten since it become limited. try having a team of grenadier for attacking because instant long range smoke can disable a full squad" "firebases work best on the opposite side to where your captured flags are in relation to the next capture point" "being a "taxi" helicopter or vehicle is important but remember, taxi's have to wait for the next fare to so sit and be patient and try not to blow up the chopper again" ill post some more up when i can think of some. Earn respect don't demand it.
January 28, 200817 yr When traveling via helicopter, a two minute walk from a safe LZ is better than a 10 minute wait time for the chopper to respawn. If your thinking about abandoning the vehicle your driving in the field don't forget to come up with an explanation of why your team has to walk to the battlefront when none of the transports respawn. Covering fire won't get you many kills but it will keep your squad alive. Field repairs are a tanks best friend but bullets and engineers don't mix. Find a safe place away from the action for some mechanical healin'. Don't shoot that tank with your rifle. Seriously. Just don't. The number of medics healing a single soldier is directly proportional to the number of grenades that will land in the area. One soldier, one doc please. Shooting the Blackhawks' mini-gun into the ground/ocean causes server side lag. Please exercise restraint when gunning at nothing. Can't hit anything with mounted machine guns? F9 may be the answer. Be precise in your VOIP exchanges. "Hostile bearing 295 degrees" is far quicker and more informative than, "Guy behind tree, past those rocks, by that car over there....NO! The other tree!" Killing people is one of the least useful skills you could have. Here is a list of particularly awesome things: dogs sniping very spicy chilli cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)
January 28, 200817 yr Before engaging the enemy, call its location relative to yours and take a breather before engaging. JDAMs not only clear an area, but also provide a very thick smokescreen that your forces can use to assault a position. http://i.imgur.com/wofKY.jpg Portfolio Site http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg
January 28, 200817 yr Extraction/Insertion points should provide cover to both the squad and the vehicle. Hilltops are not ideal. Red smoke/marker grenades should only be used for faux nightclub ambiance in the most dire of situations. Repeatedly going from crouching to standing does not constitute dancing. An armour squad without an engineer is like an infantry squad without a medic. If you can't kill it, leave it alone or it will kill you. Smoke grenades do not provide a defensive bonus. If caught in the open do not attempt to hide in the smoke. A Light AT shot into a bunker is safer than clearing it with a rifle. Indirect fire from UGL equipped soldiers can seriously ruin a defensive line up. Don't be afraid to wait a while for a squad member to respawn before heading back to an objective. One direct hit on your tank is enough reason to get repaired. The best helicopter pilots know how to keep control of their aircraft while jinking. Practise it. Jink often. January 28, 200817 yr Do not attempt to fly a jet or chopper in a populated server without practice first. See the single player chopper and jet training download. Always apologise for TK's. They will happen, but saying sorry is just good manners. Former Head Admin Check out the current admin list HERE
January 28, 200817 yr Do not attempt to fly a jet or chopper in a populated server without practice first. See the single player chopper and jet training download. Exactly Always apologise for TK's. They will happen, but saying sorry is just good manners. Good as well, but you might want to type it, because radio commands don't always get through http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. January 28, 200817 yr jink v. jinked, jink·ing, jinks v.intr. To make a quick, evasive turn: "He jinked every five seconds, and now brought his tank left again" Tom Clancy. v.tr. To cause (a vehicle or an aircraft, for example) to make a quick, evasive turn. n. 1. A quick, evasive turn. 2. jinks Rambunctious play; frolic. January 28, 200817 yr Author Well that's cleared that up Anywho, great tips. Keep 'em coming... http://www.ancientdev.com/images/devsig.png
January 28, 200817 yr Do not attempt to repair a vehicle from behind. If a tank needs to reverse in a hurry all the sprinting in the world won't get you out of the way in time. Do not get into a transport chopper with anyone you've never seen fly before unless a) one of your squad mates says they're a decent pilot, or b) they return to the helipad intact after already dropping a squad (or three). Here is a list of particularly awesome things: dogs sniping very spicy chilli cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)
January 28, 200817 yr If your the SL dont be afraid to tell individual members of the squad what you want them to do. You can click a persons name in the squad screen and their icon on the map will highlight You can also do the opposite, useful to find out who that lone wolf is way away from the rest of the squad Medics can heal themselves by proning and looking straight up If you are apart from the squad a "Contact bearing 255" is not useful without a reference, if you have time go into your control screen and take the angle from the SL Call out targets BEFORE engaging unless they are immediately threatening you or your squad. If you are trying to get to an objective behind enemy lines stealth can be more important than kills. Dont be afraid to kick people from your squad if they are not contributing to your mission. Grass does not render past 50M so only hide in the tall bushes unless your enemy is very close to you. Dont be afraid to tell your SM's what kits you want them to spawn as, if you need a medic, ask. Splitting the squads into 2 fireteams of 3 can help to achieve the objective. Don't kick pilots from your squad without warning, they lose control of the jet and most probably will crash, give them time to land. Don't blow up abandoned enemy transports or other vehicals, but do mine them. If you take the tow hummer, NEVER abandon it. It is one of the most powerful AT weapons on the battlefield. When transporting infantry in the choppers, ask them where they are going before you take off and dont leave untill you have a clear answer. Previous point does not apply if you take any sort of fire or are extracting from a hot LZ You should never head into a hot LZ. More to come later, I need a shower http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ee/US_Army_E-2.svg/50px-US_Army_E-2.svg.png http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4927/awardslf0.png
January 29, 200817 yr Kit selection prior spawning at the start of the game can be critical, nothing worse then having every one spawn optic riflemen and the SL not having an Officer kit is a sure way to have your team killed in no time. Special Kits, useful, but over used. some maps dont require you to go Marksmen or sniper at EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE CHANCE! play smart, not greedy. Don't kick a pilot out if there manning a jet, how are they suppose to coordinate targets unless going through the Squad Member -> Squad Leader -> Commander -> Squad Leader -> Pilot(unless there the Squad Leader) the target could easily of been moved or destroyed by the time the pilot gets the message and could lead to friendly fire. the commander also has better things to do. January 29, 200817 yr Ask your squad leader what kits he wants. I kick people from my squads who do not stick to my stated objectives. I kick people from my squads who grab a marksman kit without asking 60% of the time (100% in Close Quarter Battle (cqb) maps). Seriously guys the weapon is hugely over rated except in the hands of an expert. Rolling rally points are you're best friend when hoofing it long distances to a cap. Try and mix up where you put rally points down - everybody is getting a feel for where the 'good' rally points are so are obviously easier to find. Don't put your rally too close to another squads.... if one is found then chances are yours will be too which makes it much easier for the enemy to cap/defend a flag. -1 for the shooting of a tank with rifle - sometimes this is a good way to distract it so your Engineer can get a mine c4 on it. January 29, 200817 yr When you write these up don't use abbreviations, use the full word. CP and SL might mean Capture Point and Squad Leader to you but something entirely different to someone else the first time they read them.... So how do you become an expert suicide bomber? teabagging is for kids .... Real Men "Potato Sack".
January 29, 200817 yr if you only have a mine try jumping in the tanks view to try to move backwards in to your mine idiots are hardcoded
January 29, 200817 yr 1. remember that firing at distant targets is rather ineffective and will give away your position. 2. Burst and automatic fire are only useful in close quarters combat. 3. If you join a squad, be prepared to take orders from the squad leader. If this doesnt suit you, make you're own squad. 4. If you are a squad leader, be prepared to make decisions and use your squad as best you can to acheive the given objective. 5. Work hard, and be good to your mother. 6. If all else is lost, (we used to use this saying in the army) - Mag off, Pack off, F@#k off. ie - fire off the last of your mag, drop your pack and run!
January 29, 200817 yr Check your map often (caps lock). Note locations of friendly squads/troops and flags/areas that are undefended before advancing. Help build commander assets whenever you are asked - even when you are not. Rambo didn't have to worry about bullet deviation. You do - stop moving to increase accuracy. Ring your mum at least every week. Talk to your squad/Squad Leader every minute. Edited January 29, 200817 yr by McCloud Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
January 29, 200817 yr Important one: If you're not sure if it's a friend or an enemy, don't shoot, it's probably a friend. (Or something along those lines, to emphasize the importance of binoculars, squad VOIP and checking your macro-map) http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. Ahhh. Im so glad I have a GF and she doesnt read these forums...
January 29, 200817 yr a knife IS NOT an important tool so unless the ENEMY is sitting on you by themselves without a squad its not going to help. HOWEVER! if you dont want to ever go into the server again try knifing a TEAM MATE. im sure the community will point you to the banning corner. Earn respect don't demand it.
Mmmm true, if the knife meant that they died instantly and didn't get to pan around, telling their squad where you were, I'd tend to disagree with you since it would be an effective way to stealthily kill someone... the guns are a *bit* loud for stealth Headshots and knifing mean that the enemy's camera pans around, following you until he respawns... remember that the next time you're tossing up between the single headshot or the 3 body shots . http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. January 29, 200817 yr it was more 2 the point that three shots from a distance and ur down. but if the guy runs up 2 u tryn to be a smart @$$ with the knife u have time 2 hear running and turn around when he doesnt have a gun in his hands. but ya now u mention it that killed view does giv away their position doesnt it. hmmm, im gonna pop ovr to the suggestion thread in PR. doubt theyll listen but hey, worth a shot Earn respect don't demand it.
