January 25, 200817 yr Guys were not there to KILL everyone but to get objectives completed like Defence Ambush or Flag attacks Such a true comment, I wish a lot more people thought this way, would make the rounds so much more fun (instead of people not listening because they just wanted the 'kill') I'll have to join your squad if you'll have me. January 25, 200817 yr most of the time the sas will avoid a firefight , unless clearing embassys , assaulting buildings , that sort of carry on . one of my best mates served with 1nzsas , the infamous kiwi regiment . he has got a few good stories but they are his and not mine . January 25, 200817 yr your only as strong as your squad +1 a squad that sticks close has more firepower and ability than a wanking squad that just goes for the action. Those contact drills are something we practice in [WC] Headhunter, wish more people would use it, if you just run straight away with no rear cover, you're asking to get shot in the back. January 26, 200817 yr Those are not contact examples that you should be using all the time. They are great if you are trying to run away which is what the SAS would be doing. They travel in small numbers and have no back up. If you constantly break off a contact when you are after a flag you'll not get anywhere. As an in game example I would say this is good if you are trying to do a sabotage mission or are way over matched. If everyone used these tactics you would lose It's even in the "Originals" the SAS are not a conventional force and should not be used in normal combat and it was hard for people to understand. Essentially what PR is about is a realistic conventional fight. At most I would say that a team on a full server could afford only one 6 man Spec Ops squad using these tactics or you would be in trouble, in a smaller game 3 or 4 guys tops. You could use them to scoot around a squad to get at a flag but then as I all too often don't see, you need to get in the cap zone. For the camo one, that one is a jem and more or less fully applicable in game, other than shine. I don't see any watches on anyone in game. The double tap, it's the only way I can hit anything anymore other than with a SAW. I just figured it out the other day too as I was having a hard time putting people down with the G3 and I now only ever have it on single. All in all good find; thanks for posting it. I didn't say we only practiced break contact drills, We also practiced fire and movement etc that was used for closing the distance with enemies/assaulting remember smokey? http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/valour.gifhttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5224/operationcrownribbon02py7.jpg yeaaa booooy.
January 26, 200817 yr hey smokejumper youve served with the canadian forces right ? were you involved in operation archer , helmand afghanistan . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
January 27, 200817 yr I think the main idea with any formation, from what I've learnt from paintball is to form a line in front of your enemy. That way everyone in the squad has a clear line of fire. Also your squad has more available cover. One of my pet hates is people who use sprint while in a squad. I prefer to take it more slowly. Of course this can vary depending on the situation. January 27, 200817 yr hey smokejumper youve served with the canadian forces right ? were you involved in operation archer , helmand afghanistan . Nope I was out for years before the War on Terror. I was around for the cutbacks and worries of losing reserve regiments along with bases, I think you guys had similar a situation here during the mid to late 90's? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. I think it was more like the 80's for the Aus army. I know an ex-commando who always tells me that if they lost any more funding they would be jumping out of planes with bedsheets instead of parachutes.
January 29, 200817 yr My story is that I saw a Coyote in my armoured regiment once, for half a day then they took it back. A Coyote is basically a Lav with a lot of sensors in it. No more getting out and walking!! Well, less anyway which would have meant we become knob turners? I missed out anyway. http://www.strathconas.ca/armour_coyote.php Oh well, I'm going to rejoin when I go home. The reserves is good fun and I think I'll volounteer to go over seas for a tour somewhere. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake.
