Now for round 2 of the bigD Banner Competition!!!

 

If your wondering what the hell I'm talking about,

look at the top of your screen ^^^^ Yes that banner up there......we want you to make one!!! (or as many as you like)

 

The banner should be 1000x200 pixels.

 

The theme colours are:

 

dark blue 002850 r0 g40 b80

burnt orange FF6414 r255 g100 b20

 

You can use other colours, but these are our base.

 

The banner needs to incorporate "BigD Gaming Community" but otherwise feel free to use any images/etc you want.

 

Also please don't include any vBF2 images in your banner, PR and real life images are encouraged.

 

It is also preferable to blend the edges of the banner with the background or something similar to make less of a contrast with the forums.

 

Entries will be taken for the next three weeks, then two weeks will be given for voting.

Entries need to be clean (no nudity, swear words, etc) and you cannot vote for yourself.

 

If your banner didn't make it on the last comp feel free to re-enter it

Why did I make this well since Davee mentioned it and the fact I was reading this thread in the PR forums.

 

Looks like it was created in 10 seconds using a ColorMeElmo paint. When I fired the main gun I fully expected a giant flag to pop out with the word "bang".

 

This is ofcourse all in relation to the Challengers gun sight which really does look like it was created by a two year old who likes to play quake.

Don't be afraid to criticise either guys as long as its helpful not just "I don't like it cause ..... I don't know why" suggestions are welcome as always. Example guys don't forget if your making contrasting banners to the forums background colour use a border of some sort. It looks strange when a picture just cuts straight to the back ground colour with no border like so many of these do.

 

Jist of what people said so far in the thread was, borders, remove PR dog tags, should we use bD or BigD of course guide lines say BigD and I believe it was GruancH suggested someone make a banner with a JDAM separating two images. That's about all that was said up until Ablack cleaned out the thread.

 

I have an idea....not the ability to make it happen....

 

What about a tank length ways (side on shot) turret in centre facing camera. Then a line of troops holding all the different weapons (this line starts infront of tank, goes over the tank and finishes behind tank.

 

Then another line of troops on ground the length of the shot, however keep about a 2 man gap centre screen, with the BigD Community print.?

 

I think it would be cool, and you could use both sides as contrast?

 

Ofcourse you would need community participation.

My advice lose the lens flare and move you text up another millimetre or to so you can see it all other than that its great mate keep it up.

Not a fan of the font

 

Ya need to add a gap between the border and the text, so you can read it easier. And yeah, the font makes it pretty hard to read as well...

 

I would also look at either the wording or the spacing it has a uneasy feel about it due to how its currently setup. I'm ofcourse refereing to the animated text.

Didnt mean to leave out our beloved kiwi brethren, but to be honest, I'm not spending the time to change anything on the banner now. Ive spent too long on it as it is, and it was just supposed to be an easy wind-down task.

Im not happy with the join in the middle either, but I would have to basically redo the whole text part again, which is some 20 or 30 odd frames that I dont have the patience for anymore. Plus I have too many other things to work on that take priority.

So yeah, love it or leave it lol thats as good as it gets

here's my entry. it's a play on everyone's favorite show from the 80's, THE A-TEAM. sorry i didn't stick to the colour scheme, BA was against it.

 

"say it with bullets" was one of their breakthrough episodes and i thought it would be a kick-ass tagline for our PR community.

 

I would have worked in the bullet holes that get shot into the logo but i don't know how :-(

well, create a new document at 1000 X 200 pixels,

stick some pics that you like within that 1000 X 200 and just experiment with filters/effects/blending stuff etc etc

 

what i've been doing is going through tuts and trying to apply them to this pr/community/banner theme

 

i'm certainly not good at it but i'm learning and at least i'm giving it a go i suppose

 

it's not something that someone can explain to you and then you'll make good pics/artwork etc

unfortunately it's something that we have to work out for ourselves

yeah blacky - ive been poking around with it a bit tonite....also did some photoshoping as well....

 

layers and filters......but what i cant seem to do is make cool looking text.

 

it isnt the easiest program too pick up and run with, but hey practice makes perfect. I was like that when i first got sony vegas, now im pretty kick arse with it, making good movies and even usung it as an audio mixer and such.
