This guy came in, introduced himself, talked about how he plays. Notice his overuse of animated smileys and colored text.

 

Member Kenway, make a comment about this overuse of graphics and colors. Barely offensive at the most. R-MOD dune also makes comment. Guy comes back in, more or less calls them wankers. R-DEV irontaxi comes in and proceeds to attack Kenway and Dune for simply making a comment about this guy's posting methods, guy yet again reposts, calling Kenway a yokel, a "tool polisher" and a w@$#%r. Oh I almost forgot he also told him to get get F***** and called him a c*ck-snot.

 

I get the feeling this player really is 12 years old.

 

I wanna get the community's opinion and especially the admins here's opinion: Was what Irontaxi said warranted? Were Kenway and Dune in the wrong?

all of the posts from 6blackravens were deleted (well to the point i read up to)

he was the noob who i guess raged at iron for snipers being hard to use

 

i guess iron does alot of work and gets crap back from some people

From my perspective i would say they did nothing wrong in the context of the PR forums.

 

Would not like to see that it hear but i guess everyone has a different point of view.

Whilst they didnt make out right rude comments, it doesnt make a person feel welcome and can be said in a different way. Their forums get filled with alot of spam and therefore they can be a little harsher.

 

At BigD we have a much smaller player base and therefore less posts. This means its easier to moderate and not loose our cool over the amount of crap.

I would have pm'd the admins and asked them to edit their threads, also ask the new member not to use so many pics.

 

But each person has their own admining style and in the end the situation was fixed

Yeah well Kenway is a bit of an ******** (him + beta testing when something isn't going right (ie. marksman issues) + being in the same TS channel = ugh), but still, no need to be like that on the new guy...

the only person(or child i should say) to step out of line was 6blackravens imo, he/she got annoyed over a comment that is worth less then crap.

i remember kenway saying he called the FBI on some bloke who posted an introduction thread from egypt because he said he was from the middle east or something lol. at the rate hes going i think he needs a little time out from the forums. although his last comment wasnt that bad it was still unnecessary.

actually I play on this server once in a while...only wish I could only be in these forums!! what a dream...quiet...people responsible for what they say...a dream..

 

as far as im concerned..our forums have become a dumping grounds of sorts for all sorts of riff raff.. and it really takes alot of our time away from developing the mod to keep it in shape..

 

I could care less if people swear..but kenway often treats the forums as his personal opinion play ground..and contributes absolutely zero to the mod itself..

 

Ive nothing personal against him, just stop wasting my time..and defaming the Dev who own and run this MOD (by own of course i mean the site)

I don't actually mind kenway, but I can see how he can be a w@#ker sometimes. IMO in general combat veterans tend to be a bit bitter, just their nature I suppose.

But as Darth said, we do have it pretty easy here...

 

BigD members, (registered on our forums) = 382 (not everyone posts though)

PR members, (registered on their forums) = 17,281 (not everyone posts though)

 

I mean, even we have the occasional flame fight and stuff with the little amount of people we have here. It's just basically expected that with 17 thousand opinions, theres going to be a lot of conflict. I reckon the devs and mods do pretty good considering the amount of people they have posting.

i think that about 100 of those 382 people post maybe an inactive profile delete is in order to *narrow the figures* and and really higlight the current members, im sure with the great 40+ people were getting on nights these days and the crashless games i think we could make up some numbers quickly

I think Ancient hit the nail on the head.

So, so many opinions over there, and everyone has a great 'little idea' they want to share, and an opinion on the way things should be done, but when the population is so big, I know how much it can drain you.

 

We had the same problem on another very popular Australian forum (not PR related) that resulted in long time members going very, very quiet and more than a few leaving altogether as they just couldnt deal with repeating themselves over and over and hearing everyone have a different opinion on how things should be done, or bringing up this same things that had been discussed and settled long ago.

 

Its a tough situation and Im so so thankful we dont have to deal with it on that larger of a scale here.
