Joint TOG bD training

Hi,

I have recently been getting involved in PR and have found that their is a vast amount of differences from it to vBF2. Not only game modes but tactics limitations and other nuances. I also just missed out on the TOG bD scrim in which we received a bit of a pasting. So I am suggesting we have a joint training session/s where a few of the more experienced of you guys can run us through some drills and tactics. In the long run this will make the scrims (which i hope will be a regular occurrence) all the more enjoyable. what do you say?

Seems like a good idea.

I like the idea of 1 training night everynow and then.

Yes an excellent idea.

Along a similar idea maybe setting up a "TRAINING" squad in pubs might also help. New guys could join and maybe some of the vets could explain the game a bit more to them.

I'll be willing to teach what I know. Even in a public server if you wan't.

For private tutoring, gimmie a time to be there and I'll walk you through the basics ;)

Make perfect sense to me but theres no reason for it to be TOG| exclusive we could put say a hour aside this sunday and make it a open ended thing, for anyone who feels a little walk through is in order.

That is what i had in mind. What i am looking for is volunteers to lead those squads and then we can organise a day and time.

by all means make it open to others other than bD and TOG. my idea was that we could go from here then when we are all up-to-speed and a fairly competent level make a regular scrim night.

The usual candidates come to mind Photoshop, AusSniper, Aphex_Fusion, Lucid_Nightmare, Sandy, myself as well as any number of others who elude at me present but are well know for there good natures and skill at squad leading.

Think it will work for me so I'll put myself down as a tentative yes assuming a number of things the least been that the server isn't full on the night.

Honestly I can't plan my life that far in advance, so I'll try my best to be there. If something comes up I'll notify you beforehand.

I can make it - I can take you through the whole SL thing, and I can also show you how to be the basic grunt everyone has dreamed of. (Try saying that out of context!)

Another good thing is to check out Fuzzhead's SL training on Youtube. I believe there's 5 sections. I think Bigbossmatt did it all, so he'd be one to stick close to.

In addition to the the above, I can also offer excellent advice on what to do while you watch that old 'You were Killed' message tick down to zero.

"We play Wagner - scares the hell outta them!"
I'll be happy to lead a training squad to teach the stuff I wrote in the tactics section under (ST) advanced infantry tactics. Though I suggest we do this on one of the sunday members nights to ensure no noobs and the full cooperation of all players on the server.
Are you looking more for someone to walk you through what's different in PR and how to accustom to these changes, or the more advanced infantry tactics?

Actually that is a good question should we run a basic training then an advanced one or is everyone confident in the basics already?

Though I think that the basics are probably better learned from the PR wiki and player guides on the net. I had a squad leader the other day who did not know how to get in/get supply from a MEC APC (coz it uses the side instead of the back) + "where do I get heavy AT/AA from?" is a common question. As well as "why does my heli crash all the time on take-off?"

These are all answered best online not on a one on one basis. Not that I mind answering the odd random "how do I...?" question.

I am not sure how familiar the rest of us TOG guys are with the ins and outs, so we can start with the basics of infantry tactics and a few "you get the heavy AT kit from here" tips and then go from there. I for one didn't know about getting kits from the side of the MEC APC, but then again i have never seen one on game yet (and i hope i would have figured it out when the time came). From what i have been seeing from last nights very brief scirmish (with MadHatter once again), we would benefeit from how to work as a team, ie covering the angles, overwatch, effective use of suppressive fire, using comms properly etc. the fuzzhead youtube videos are great, but having direct interaction is a more effective tool.
