Posted January 16, 200817 yr I bloody well think so Might want to check your volume before you click this even with noise cancelling head phones shes still allot louder than the quite aircon sound currently in PR. Atleast thats my bloody 2 cents on that matter. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
January 16, 200817 yr well as it was befor in .6 you couldnt hear any one on viop and it you had to stop the tank to talk idiots are hardcoded
January 17, 200817 yr Author Yeah you could just need to turn down your SFX volume but leave the VOIP high anyway it still wasn't any where near as loud especially the Abraham's which has a goddam jet engine. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
January 17, 200817 yr The people in tanks have ear muffs... The camera does not... http://www.ancientdev.com/images/devsig.png
January 17, 200817 yr Can't hear anything in a tank other than the comms really once you're buttoned down and have your headset on. Loud as hell outside though or with no ear protection on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. January 17, 200817 yr Yeah you could just need to turn down your SFX volume but leave the VOIP high anyway it still wasn't any where near as loud especially the Abraham's which has a goddam jet engine. Actually, the Abrahms has a Multi Fuel Gas Turbine engine (can run on Avgas or diesel in a pinch) and has the nickname "Whispering Death" because it is so quiet. Of course quiet is a relative term (!) but I can tell you from personal experience that the M1A1D variant is a hell of a lot quieter than a Leopard I tank! http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp

You crazy ex-military people... know everything. I've watched Rambo, does that count?! http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. January 17, 200817 yr Author Very right bammo I seemed to have gotten confused some where along the lines the gas turbine engine which the abrams is equipped with is produced by Textron Lycoming a company with a well know past in aircraft manufacturing. Its not particularly surprising the Abram's have being given that name considering the type of sound they emit and how it would disperse over terrain and of course they rather interesting rubber tracks. However my opinion still stands the current interior noise of not only the Abram but all of the armoured vehicles in PR is a little lacking. Even with noise cancelling head sets taken into account there still should be more ambient noise or radio chatter like you find in the planes. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
January 17, 200817 yr I just went onto the website I post on with other ex-military to put it to people with experience on Challengers and other modern tanks around the planet. I'll post the replies. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. January 17, 200817 yr Oh, by the way... it's quiet Don't hurt me Vis http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. January 17, 200817 yr why do you care because soon as you park up on a hill the driver jumps in to 3rd seat to lissen for close tanks and infantry idiots are hardcoded
January 17, 200817 yr pretty sure they reduced the noise inside tanks for a couple of reasons, 1) because of the earmuff factor (the fact that you would be wearing earmuffs inside a tank) 2) because it was impossible to hear voip while in a tank before. 3) because you could hear troops running around outside (which was not realistic) I like your radio chatter idea, should post it on the forums. January 17, 200817 yr Author I'm just bouncing ideas and opinions around I might post the findings in the PR forums although I put NO STOCK what so ever in there forums. If I really wanted it changed I would badger Ancient and Chuc into mentioning it. I'm just more curious as to what everyone thinks and to see if we can get some service men's opinion on the noise. I have being inside M113A1 before while there on the move and I can say there no quite ride but I wasn't wearing any ear protection at all and I was in the rear passenger compartment. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
January 17, 200817 yr Okay got word from an Abrams tanker, they are pretty loud in there but you can hear yelling etc as there is a mic outside. You must have ear protection on for the main gun to fire or you will have ear damage. Soooo, the tanks should be louder in there but somehow make voice comms more clear. Want me to post the link for the conversation? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. January 17, 200817 yr Author just a few qoutes will do its all pretty much what I expected to hear from them anyway. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
January 18, 200817 yr Has anyone seen that episode on Discovery Channel where they are refurbishing Abrams tanks and they all have kangaroos painted on them? Interesting program. So how do you become an expert suicide bomber? teabagging is for kids .... Real Men "Potato Sack".
January 18, 200817 yr ozpainman - I heard about it but haven't seen it. Anyone know if there is a torrent file around for it? http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp

Want me to post the link for the conversation? the energy required to put a shell through a tank armour is huge so untill lasers or electromagnetic cannons come out its going to still be noisy as hell also no matter how noise damppering a engine is the low pitch will always be there to ruin your eardrums idiots are hardcoded
January 18, 200817 yr Yeah my old man was telling me about a doco on the austar about the tanks we just got from the yanks I'd love to see it if any know the place to find it http://www.bigd.com.au/_bigdfiles/sigs/mh-sig-2016-11.png
January 18, 200817 yr why the hell would you want to buy yank crap when you got the germen tank to buy idiots are hardcoded
January 18, 200817 yr Oh if i was the head of the defence force, i would have brought the Challenger2 from the brits http://www.bigd.com.au/_bigdfiles/sigs/mh-sig-2016-11.png
January 18, 200817 yr *sigh* because the brand of tank was not the deciding factor here. Australia cannot really deploy the M1's outside of the mainland for both operational and logistical reasons. But they can borrow the 10th Mechanised tanks that are already in the US. This was a deal struck between the Coalition Gov and the US to promote closer cooperation without having to actually rely on US troops operating their tanks in close support of our guys. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp
January 18, 200817 yr i guess its so they can be trained in use of the Abram and be able to use it when there supporting the US aussy soldiers using American tanks i guess idiots are hardcoded
January 18, 200817 yr ...is there an echo in here? http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp
January 18, 200817 yr Author If my memory doesn't fail me the doco your talking about is infact the National Geographic - Megafactories: Tanks. One of the most powerful land weapons systems in the world, the Abrams tank is the US Army’s principal combat tank in Iraq and is set to enter the Australian defence force ranks in 2007. Rather than built new, the Abrams are decades-old tanks that are completely overhauled from the ground up. Now the doors are opened on the two factories in Alabama and Ohio, responsible for the Herculean effort of revamping the 70-ton Abrams. In these two facilities, time-honoured tanks are completely disassembled, cleaned, refurbished and upgraded before the reborn Abrams is sent in zero-mile condition to flex its new muscles on the proving grounds of Fort Bliss, Texas. I've seen its interesting enough I'm sure you could find some footage somewhere of it. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
