What type of squadleader do you like?

There seems to be three distinct types of squad leader. I was curious as to which people like what type.

What we basically have is:

Mock Military

Such as Aus sniper and photoshop. They will emulate military procedure to varying degrees.

Laid Back

Such as VisOne and I. A more relaxed 'go with the flow' type of squad leading. Tends not to emulate military procedure but uses what works in game.

Silence is golden

Squadleaders that provide nothing more than a rallypoint and mobile spawn. No real direction or leadership.

If possible, post your reasons explaining your choice.

Of course I voted for my style cause in the end it's a game and I want to have fun not to mock running a infantry section, winning is just part of it and in the end I don't think running extended line and other military formations get the job done any faster. That said I'm not taking a shot at players who like that style of game play, some like to been informed 100% of the way. I'm more like 40% and let peoples better judgment prevail.

Either of the first two works for me.

I think a mixture of the first two.

At the end of the day its a game and I want to enjoy myself, I don't want to be constantly told what to do. It is good to get that direction, but I want to have to think for myself also. :)

I like the mock militarty style better, especially when in a squad with aus sniper or photoshop as leader because they do it really well.

A little bit of the first two really. When I'm SL, I do prefer to be somewhat laid back because I basically have very little idea of what the real military does. That being said, it's a bit of fun being in a squad with Aussie or Photoshop.
"We play Wagner - scares the hell outta them!"
I'd say the first for me but in a calming way. No one wants to be shouted at and I haven't had many SL do this. As SL and people aren't following orders I try and stay as calm as possible, not everyone wants to be told what to do, most don't realised that it's to the benefit of the team/squad when you ask them to do something. I have brought up in another part of the forum http://games.bigdy.net/viewtopic.php?t=32 that we could introduce something to seperate 1 and 2 so SL intentions are defined so you know the squad work that would be involved before entering the squad.

Second one most definably, but the first also works well on occasion.
I tend to lean closer to the military side but not quite as strict as some. Still I like to assign kits to my squadies as nessecary I can't stand it when you ask for a medic in the squad and then they change to something else in their next life for no reason. I espeicially don't like players who use spec-ops and grenadier alot as they don't add any special abilities to your squad ie. ammo, medic, or AT. I love players who go those 3 classes.

While i agree to the spec ops who have nothing more than a laser beam of doom (no-one uses the SOFLAM), i find the grenadiers extremely useful in that they provide some long range fire support. On more than 1 occasion(75% if im having a good night) I can nail tagets with the noob-tube at 75-100m away with one round. That having been said, I dont like to have more than 1 in the squad and avoid doubling up if im a squad member but as a leader, I try to have at least one.

Undisputed King of Insugency, Allahu Akbah!!

God damn black people can run fast.
I find generally players who spawn with special ops are still set in the way of the vanilla thinking that spec op's is some super soldier kitted out with a automatic weapon, parachute, grenades, c4 the list goes on when in reality there the most limited kit in the game. I also have a distinct distaste for players who join squads only to have access to marksmen, sniper and SUPPORT kits I find generally these types of players have little to add to your squad and tend to treat there life and the squads with less respect.

Spec-Ops are great for Lone Wolf players.

Yes, I am validating my pilgrimage today :)

Well, I am def one of the first 2, preferably the first. I like taking orders (hence why I have my Fiance) and being directed in battle. Nothing can beart being in a well organised squad. :)

Everything below this sentence is the god given truth!

Spec ops I thought were meant to be Rally point killers.

They are fast, have superior optics and can put a killing blow on a rally point in a jiffy. If played stealthily and cautiously they can be real game winners on some maps.

They are lone wolf kits but can be useful for a sl who wants a point man and rally point destroyer all in one.

I usually don't play spec ops but always assume a "sneaky little bugger" attitude when I do.

No there the only suitable ways they can be integrated into squad's or be of any tactical use there however inherit draw backs out weigh there use, like I stated already the vast majority of players who go for said kit have anything in mind other than getting "lots" of kills. In the grand scheme of things I'll take a extra medic, rifleman or engineer over a spec ops any day there not only help full to the squad but the team as a whole.

As many people don't seem to realise yet you can destroy rally points with about 50 rnds or rifle ammo therefore you don't need SLAMS to do the job. In my opinion they are only useful against APCs and jeeps.

To make spec ops more useful they should have a silenced MP5 or something to make them more spec opsy. At present they are only good for CQB and scouts.

I like both the mock military and laid back approaches... but I voted laid back because some people (newbies) might find mock military a little intimidating.
Super we keep our marginal lead take that military

I prefer the mock military myself. I like being in an organized squad - and it usually takes some bossiness to achieve this.

0 votes for "Silence is Golden" that's a good indication that most of the community knows how to play PR. Most excelent.

Well all my best gaming experiences in PR so far have been with 'mock military' SLs. They keep the squad organised, and reinforce the teamwork very well.

Still remember my most enjoyable round as being under AusSnipa on some forested map (I can neva remember map names :p), with ice, aphex, n others (full squad) and the whole round was a fight between these 2 flags, but due to our organisation, 99% of their pushes were held off (usually by a withering hail of fire from 4 of us in cover, and then a 2-man 'cleanup' crew who would sweep through)

I tend to find that with a more relaxed SL the job doesn't get done quite as well (no offence intended to any of those more laid-back SLs :), this is just my opinion).
