Posted December 31, 200717 yr Anyone else seen and loved that series? Did you guys know that they are currently filming another one for the Pacific theatre and it's getting filmed right here in Victoria!! I met the lead actor of Band of Brothers while I was skating in London, had no idea he was English. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_of_Brothers http://www.tv.com/band-of-brothers/show/2604/the-pacific-war/topic/60086-210893/msgs.html http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. December 31, 200717 yr Would hardly be the first or last movie being filmed in Australia about the war in the pacific. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
December 31, 200717 yr Yeah its good action, Ive got the first 6 dvds set. I watched it last week, discs 2,3 and 4 were the best with awesome action. Fear is another word for weakness.
December 31, 200717 yr Author Would hardly be the first or last movie being filmed in Australia about the war in the pacific. This is true but with such a large budget? Not often, will bring in some money! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. December 31, 200717 yr I've been watching the series over the last couple weeks. it was so well done esp the action scenes. incredible what those guys went through. in bastogne (sp?) they were 70days on the front lines in winter without proper clothing and not much ammo. the germans had them surrounded and were firing tree burst arty. it was not surprising when I heard easy company had a 150% casuality rate. I'm going to pick up Ambrose's book about it in the new year and see how close they stuck to it. from what i heard it's all pretty accurate and they only messed up a few dates etc. anyone else read the book? is it worth it?
December 31, 200717 yr Anyone else read the book? is it worth it? I certainly think so I would suggest reading almost anything by Stephen E Ambrose especially band of brothers or citizen soldiers. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png

I have it and it is worth it, I also have Pegasus Bridge. The series has a lot of inaccuracies though such as Albert Blithe. He did not die just after the war and served in Korea and was still on active service in 68 when he did actually die. However, I watched it to be entertained and it entertained the hell out of me. Here is a critique. http://www.101airborneww2.com/bandofbrothers3.html He's a bit over critical but hey I think he's old and has a lot of time on his hands. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. December 31, 200717 yr Blithe doesnt die in the show... he gets shot in the neck and is shown in UK in a hospital bed at the end "I mean normally we nail threads like these down harder than a swarm of ninjas with nail guns," -- Bahlye

December 31, 200717 yr ive seen the first season but are they only making season 2 or i just living under a rock idiots are hardcoded
December 31, 200717 yr There is only 1 season of Band Of Brothers, which is of course from the Stephen E Ambrose book Band Of Brothers is about Easy Company E of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, U.S. 101st Airborne Division which was in turn part of the XVIII Airborne Corps. What were infact talking about is a new Mini Series made by the team who brought us Band Of Brothers its supposedly called "The Pacific" and is of course in fact based on a entirely different book/group of men. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
December 31, 200717 yr My brother's friend is working on the pacific as a cameraman I think, either that or an extra, can't remember exactly. But yeah apparently they've also been filming in QLD. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/valour.gifhttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5224/operationcrownribbon02py7.jpg yeaaa booooy.
January 1, 200817 yr Here is a pic from Pacific, when filming a Beach landing, near Mosman NQ at Newell beach http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/0561570800.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
January 1, 200817 yr that does look cool even if they do look a bit "fresh" i mean in season one they didnt get new unforms for ages (dont know how long) idiots are hardcoded
January 1, 200817 yr that does look cool even if they do look a bit "fresh" i mean in season one they didnt get new unforms for ages (dont know how long) Well in the movie they just got there lol. give em time to get up the beach http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
January 1, 200817 yr that does look cool even if they do look a bit "fresh" i mean in season one they didn't get new uniforms for ages (don't know how long) You have to remember that the photo is just a normal snapshot without any of the MANY effects* that the series itself has layered over the top of it to make it look well old timey and dirty. As well as what War has said previously when you first deploy into a battle your usually wearing a clean uniform and under wear. *I would seriously suggest you all watch the extra's on the Band Of Brothers DVD's and documentary just too understand how effort went into the production and how they do it all, the air mortars they use for explosions are especially interesting. January 1, 200817 yr that does look cool even if they do look a bit "fresh" i mean in season one they didnt get new unforms for ages (dont know how long) Wait till they have added special affects, then it will be alot different. Fear is another word for weakness.
