Posted December 6, 200717 yr New gaming PC, onboard sound is crap (it seriously sounds bloody awful!!!) Now because its mainly for gaming, creative is probably the best as it does EAX5.0 instead of 2.0. Right? Wrong? I can get an Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Sound Card for $159 OR Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Half Height OEM for $121 OR Sound Card Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer for $154 Is it worth paying $4 more for the fatal1ty? Or should I go for the half height and get myself a case of beer to go along with it?
December 6, 200717 yr Or should I go for the half height and get myself a case of beer to go along with it? Since I know nothing about sound cards the cheapest with beer attached sounds the best Idea to me. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
December 6, 200717 yr Davee, I have only had good experience with Creative's sound cards. Dollars permitting get the Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer for $154, some ear plugs for the family and a case of beer for you. What speakers are you intending to run with? Edited December 6, 200717 yr by HairyFence
December 6, 200717 yr I can get an Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Sound Card for $159 i have this and it was the best investment i made for my computer. Sounds are fantastic and as it has the 64mb chip on it, when games start to use it it will sound even better. i have heard problems with the lighter versions on the X-fi card in respect to bad sound etc. The only other thing to consider is if you want the external box to plug things into. http://www.madhouseau.com/misc/sigs/darthsig.jpg
December 6, 200717 yr Author Nah this is my new PC which only has a set of good headphones connected which sound awful through onboard. My other PC plays all the music, TV, Movies so this is purely gaming, and some music which is set up through the HT speakers Rooter. Might go the Fatal1ty then. Though the onboard ram just makes me think of the KillerNIC. lulz.
December 6, 200717 yr I'd go the stretch for the X-fi Fatal1ty pro. If you don't like creative and/or dont mind paying more, then the Razr Barracuda looks good, or the new Auzentech X-fi remakes. Haven't tried them though, only looking at reviews. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
