Posted November 17, 200717 yr Ok well i am a regular on BigD PR servers but when ever i start playing about 5-10 mins in i just crash at random, ive updated pnkbstr, my graphics card and my graphics are low. When i play on BF2 maps like Sharqi dont crash but ones like Oman and Clean Sweep do. In PR all servers i crash on (big maps and small maps) but sometimes I dont crash. On time i played on Small maps for 3 hours then when i left and came back 1 hour later i crashed over and over again untill i gave up. Now when i crash sometimes i crash to desktop (not often) and almost all the time the game just frezzes and i have to manuel restart. I have looked on forums on the net and i have done what they say. i have deleated my cache in my documents bf2 folder. now i dont no what to do because it works sometimes but then when i do the same thing another time it doesn't. I would really appreciate it if someone could help Thanks for your help, Shotgun http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2111/shotgunreal.pnghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/lol.bmp Love you long time gunner <3 I like to wait till im nearly done, then pull out and yell "COVERING FIRE!!!" November 17, 200717 yr What is your download speed?(ie 1056/256 etc). And how much ram do you have...some maps need more ram to run than others... http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif

I have looked on forums on the net and i have done what they say. i have deleated my cache in my documents bf2 folder. Thanks for your help, Shotgun Firstly, what are your PC specs? Secondly, are all your drivers up to date? Thirdly, have you tried a clean install of windows & BF2 + mods? The computer locking up indicates a hardware issue to me, not software conflicts. What OS do you use? Does it happen in any other games? Can you run a full loop of 3dmark06 without your PC crashing? Is any of your hardware overclocked? http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. November 17, 200717 yr you could try reinstalling bf2 and making sure you delete every thing and yes theres alot of stuff left over after an uninstall idiots are hardcoded
November 18, 200717 yr mmmm sounds familiar, Are you using on-board sound? Reason is, I used to have that same issue... I disabled my OB sound & put my Sound Blaster 5.1 back in & not had the same issue again... Not saying that this will fix your problem as I have also upgraded to 2gig ram & 512meg graphics card... But, Hey! give it a go.. Edited November 18, 200717 yr by FJ http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp

November 18, 200717 yr start/control panel/system...this will show(at the bottom )your cpu and ram... there is away to show full system specs but this will show your cpu and amount of ram. Just check your last bill from your ip provider to see what your upload/download speeds are. Low download speed was a problem I used to have and I would get "random" crashes also. http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif
November 18, 200717 yr Author Ok well i have 1gb of Ram an Intel Core Duo T5500 @1.66Ghz prossesors and i am running it off my laptop which has built in speakers, i have never had trouble like this before. also if it helps i brought this computer this year its a HP and has a Nvidid Go 7400 which is a custom HP card so i have to get drivers off their site not off Nvidias Internet speed is 1500/256kbps Edited November 18, 200717 yr by cm. http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2111/shotgunreal.pnghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/lol.bmp Love you long time gunner <3 I like to wait till im nearly done, then pull out and yell "COVERING FIRE!!!" November 18, 200717 yr Could try getting one of those laptop holders with the fans in them. Sounds like over heating to me. However, my mate had similar problems, sometimes could play for 3 hrs, others only 5 minutes until his system locked up. Turned out his graphics card was dodgy from the start, and the problem was fixed with a replacement card. http://www.ancientdev.com/images/devsig.png
November 18, 200717 yr Author my graphics card has a warning that goes off at 105degrees i think i will turn it down to like 80 and see if it goes off, if it does idk what ill do http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/2111/shotgunreal.pnghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://www.bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/lol.bmp Love you long time gunner <3 I like to wait till im nearly done, then pull out and yell "COVERING FIRE!!!" November 18, 200717 yr my graphics card has a warning that goes off at 105degrees i think i will turn it down to like 80 and see if it goes off, if it does idk what ill do Try running a few loops of 3dmark 06.. it should stress your hardware quite significantly. If you're not too into the whole 600MB+ download... try atitool to stress the GPU, and Prime95 to stress the CPU. Here are some links for you. Also, if you tell me who serves your internet, I might be able to find a free mirror for you, so it doesn't eat quota. AtiTool (despite the name, it works for nvidia as well) http://www.majorgeeks.com/ATITool_d4109.html Prime95 http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Home-Education/Prime95.shtml 3dMark06 http://www.gamershell.com/download_16652.shtml The way to use these: AtiTool: Open it up, Click the 3d-View button.. Let it heat up a bit. Then scan for artifacts. Leave that up for a good 10+ minutes. Prime95: Open it up, choose the Small FFT Torture test option, leave it for as long as possible. Monitor the temperature. If you don't already have it, CoreTemp is quite good: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/CoreTempBeta.zip 3dMark06: Install it, open, and run the test. If possible, get it to loop... although I'm not sure if that's available in the free version http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. November 18, 200717 yr to find system info on XP start/programs/accessries/system tools/system info and it probley best you do delete your profiles in a full reinstall other wise its not a full reinstall o and laptops(notebooks there new name) are not made for games and do not do well at them also if its over heating make sure its undervents are not being covered as the new name for them because they are not made to be used on the lap Edited November 18, 200717 yr by Super64 idiots are hardcoded

November 18, 200717 yr ok well i ran ati tools for 20 mins on almost full and my core's idled at about 54 and my graphics card a 60 so i dont know if this is overheating or if BF2 is more intense Most likely BF2 is not more intense than those two programs... they should stress the hardware to 100%. As mentioned above, it could be a soundcard/motherboard hardware incompatibility... it's hard to know, but I'm still fairly sure that it's hardware related due to having to do a hard-reset. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. November 18, 200717 yr try turning your sound to low quality (in game) & turn off EAX (in Game)... I still reckon it is on board audio that is causing you grief... Maybe this will help... also have a look for latest sound drivers for your card on the HP site.. Do you have a full licenced version of windows?? What are you using XP or Vista?? http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp

Edit: Found something interesting: D:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\Support\EasyInfo.exe That should tell you if your PC is compliant with the min requirements.
