Posted October 14, 200717 yr Hi All, I have had issues running TS with PR - I start TS, log into a channel, then start BF2/PR - and my squad VOIP is just crackly static. TS is fine. Then sometimes (maybe 50% of the time) if I exit BF2 and re-enter and squad VOIP is fine. Any ideas? I have tried limiting TS bandwidth but no joy. Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
October 14, 200717 yr No idea but maybe try it the other way around - start pr up, wait for map to finish loading then alt tab out and startup TS *shrugs shoulders* There he goes. October 14, 200717 yr ive had that too...the crackles on voip when TS is running? I have no fix http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp
October 14, 200717 yr Author Yeah I'll try doing it after entering PR. I read it is a sound card thing, where some do not like the multiple VOIPs or something... If anyone else gets it, I find I have to shut down BF2 then re-enter and you can test if it will be OK via the mic test in the audio options. October 14, 200717 yr Author Mine worked first time last night when I started PR, and prior to loading map I Alt-tabbed out and started TS. Don't know if it was just a coincidence or not though Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
October 15, 200717 yr I had issues too and I used to constantly use TS in vanilla with no problem. I'm really confused by it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. October 15, 200717 yr Author Smokey, but did you previously use TS + vanilla squad VOIP at the same time? Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
October 15, 200717 yr Yes, constantly. Hours upon hours of play no issue until last night. Edit// I don't think it was working after I restarted my PC and logged in with TS closed after also. October 16, 200717 yr Does anyone limit there bandwidth? http://matt.itsthemadhouse.com/na/sigs/na-sig-gruanch5.png http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/bulletmagnet.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/gren.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/ocrs.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg
October 16, 200717 yr Wokeye, Never had the issue myself but, generally if you start the game first, alt-tab and load TS it will solve the issue according to most people. There are however a few other fixes people could try if that doesn't work. For dual core uses try this link. Another option is to switch from DirectSound to Wave sound in TS The final stated solution is to update your sound drivers to the latest versions as suggested here. (links in the before mentioned link are old so I wouldn't use them I just posted it for reference.) Note that these threads are old (2002) but are the only solution on offer. Also goes to show how long the problems have been around for. Hope that helps. Edited October 16, 200717 yr by cann0nf0der

October 16, 200717 yr Limiting the bandwidth is only useful if you have dialup or something slow. If you limit it, and multiple people are talking, it will cut out like crazy. It's not worth it unless you have some really slow form of internet. It's done in options somewhere. http://www.ancientdev.com/images/devsig.png
October 16, 200717 yr No idea but maybe try it the other way around - start pr up, wait for map to finish loading then alt tab out and startup TS *shrugs shoulders* It's only a theory of mine , but try not to alt-tab out of PR , apart from the BF2 engine being unstable as we all know , PR seems to have a stuttering fit for the rest of the game if i come back in after alt tabbing. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/valour.gifhttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/5224/operationcrownribbon02py7.jpg yeaaa booooy.
October 16, 200717 yr I alt-tab in and out all the time and NEVER have ANY problems. There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. October 16, 200717 yr Yeah I wasnt sure about the bandwidth though I'd ask Alt-tabbing quite often fixes my stutters, reapplies the programs priority ?? http://matt.itsthemadhouse.com/na/sigs/na-sig-gruanch5.png http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/bulletmagnet.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/gren.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/ocrs.bmp http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg
March 24, 200816 yr Author Saw a few ppl talking about this again recently. After a bunch of attempts to fix this issue with software/drivers, I gave up. I now start PR all the way into the map, then turn on TS. Any other method gives me about a 50% chance of squad VOIP being static. 90% chance if it is an important match/scrim Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png

Its the amount of ram you have, try pressing esc to go to the menu then alt-tabbing. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ee/US_Army_E-2.svg/50px-US_Army_E-2.svg.png http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4927/awardslf0.png
March 26, 200816 yr I now start PR all the way into the map, then turn on TS. Yep that is what I do works fine for me. I would hazard a guess and say it has something to do with TS stealing the channel/port BF2 uses for VOIP if you open it up first. But if you open it up second it chooses another channel/port and is fine.
