If they don't give USMC riflemen ACOGs or equivalent in this patch I will **** bricks. Also hope something nice is done for spec ops finally.

Also am I the only one who noticed that the "scimitar" has those side rails for exploding RPGs and **** before they hit like aus was suggesting they add in a few weeks ago?

Stupid work pc won't let me look.

I'll talk more about your post Ice when I get home.

Wait what? AM I DOING IT WRONG? :p

Ice, fear not, they have confirmed that the US Rifleman will be getting an ACOG sight

YESSSSS!!!!!!!

No Ice I was just going to say what's wrong with the Spec ops nothing that's what cracker jack :jester: As for the armoured skirting well that has being debated upon a number of times before Aus brought it up in the BF2 engine it serves nothing but decorative value. You can't code it into the game without it causing the game to think it has more armour overall then it should its nice they put it in though looks pretty.

One other thing to note about that armour is the fact that when ASLAV's, Strikers or what have you are equipped with them they go over there lifting weight and such they kits need to assembled on the ground after they have being deployed.

I was just hoping Spec Ops gets a something little extra now that it's going to be a limited kit , even something like a flashbang or parachute would be welcome.

I'm pretty sure you can addon the skirting so it is a physical object in the BF2 engine on the APC , but it would lag like hell and the APC's physics would be fuggzored.

Yeah, the Aus DFs did use them screens. I read an article where some had to take them off due to them being a danger to civilians! Never mind those RPGs!
Zenning hardcore.

Pretty much the jist of it is BF2 limitations make it nothing more than something pretty to have for the sake of realistic looks.

I'm all for adding new content to the game but isn't the Scimitar almost identical to the Warrior? The only difference is the Warrior is better because it can carry troops. (and provide a respawn point)

Why add a vehicle that is worse than an existing one?

They will probably have them both in the game at the same time on maps where giving the brits a tank would give them too big an advantage perhaps.

Will be interesting to see what maps make the final cut, its one thing about PR I like you always have to learn new maps and adjust to changes.

I hope they fix the tanks/apc sound though its far too quite imo they must be able to make the prone or crouch walk quite.

One thing I'd love to see is more explosions bigger, brighter, fierce.

I'm used to the game play now so I wonder how much I'll have to adjust next? I'm looking forward to it.

You can't hear a bloody thing in armour so it's actually quite well done.

I would like to see crouch a bit more silent though.

I was armoured recce. I drove in an Illtis but as I was armoured we got to play with Coyote Recce vehicles. My experience with them though is looking at one........... However, ask a tanker about them and they let you know what they are like to operate.

In actual armour you get equipped with a helmet that has speakers etc in the ear protection so you don't hear much that is not broadcasted through the vehicles intercom.

If you took your headset off though it would not be quiet but then you couldn't hear the commander and bouncing your head off a steel bulkhead hurts so you wouldn't.

Armoured Recon or Recon, one of the two. Eitherway, he's halfway between grunt and armour.

Sort of a half assed mix really at the time I was in. If we went on a real deployment we would be equipped with a Coyote Recce vehicle which is a LAV more or less with lots of sensors.

Otherwise throw cammo over a jeep and start walking.

On topic//

I think they should keep solo tanking in but have a delay when you switch. I'd like a delay where you could not move the turret or the tank for a good 5 seconds at least upon a switch to any position other than top MG.

You can move around in them in real life and it would take longer than 5 seconds but full realism isn't so much fun.

Tanks in real life are very vulnerable to infantry it's why they travel together especially in urban settings. I think they should be vulnerable to infantry especially solo manned. It gives mroe reason to have two people in there as in that situation if you get mined with two sets of eyes you where sleeping.

Keep in mind that it does not take much to knock a track off. The BF2 engine does not allow for this so C4 and slams need to do more damage. So they can be a threat as a bit of C4 would render a tank stationary if placed the right spot.

Also, IED's are a big threat you can always make a bigger bomb.

+1 to Smokies solo-tanking theory. Removing solo-tanking would hurt the game I think as there are plenty of people who love them but it's not always practical to have a crew of two, particularly on the larger maps with a half full server.

As a dedicated ground-pounder I'd love to see a 5 second seat-switch delay implimented, it'd make it somewhat easier to take out a tank with mines and C4

totally agree with you, they should leave it possible to solo, but make it more benifical to dual-crew

or at least add the same delay that the main cannon has to the 50 cal. (not the one on top)

All that would do is lead to tanks fighting to the death instead of retreating. Or it would be worse than it is now with tanks sitting on a high point and sniping.

Killing tanks close range with c4 and mines is something the devs don't really want to encourage.

I'm the dominatrix!

And why not? Its how it was done in WW2 :p Seriously though, nows its a legitimate tactic rather than 0.5 where your mines turned up to the enemy

Ahh the good old catch 22 us old ground pounders can't spawn as any sort of ranged anti tank, the only useful limited kit no longer scopes and the game engine itself cant handle the true armour penetration they have. So were left with questionable tactics involving slinking around on the ground with land mines all the while qouting the age old saying. "Its not our place to question why, its only too but do and die"

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png

I think the old C4/Mine shennanigans need to stay, especially in urban scenarios. Sure, it may not be all that realistic, but it surely keeps the balance of the game. I stopped playing on a regular basis for two reasons - 1) I was sick of getting sniped by a tank 1km away and 2) my compy is ****e.

The first point I don't really care about, I just need to get over it and the second point is being addressed very slowly...I just worked a 100hr fortnight!

"We play Wagner - scares the hell outta them!"

Should be able to call in air support on tank snipers, similar to Arty but you only get 1 per squad every 10 mins or so perhaps?

They wouldn't require a pilot it's just a super bomb type thing the commander ackowledges. To counter it the tank needs to keep moving. The bomb would have an effective kill zone of 50 mtrs or so to makes sure the tank has to move a good distance.

End random thought...

Call in airstrikes would be awesome.

Would also give the spec ops class a good use.

Could be a special spec ops squad leader kit that can only request it though.
