Posted October 12, 200717 yr I just fired up and finished the demo, in little under an hour.. The singleplayer kicks as much arse as it did back in CoD1 or 2, so no worries there. In fact, the modern weaponry may have breathed new life into the series (single player that is..). Toys like RPGs, Javelins, flashbangs and IR-beams with night vision.. It looks fantastic, even with my 9600XT, over 4 years old. Still, no substitute for PR. http://i.imgur.com/wofKY.jpg Portfolio Site http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg
October 12, 200717 yr Ahhhh 20 hour's to download ..... stupid Firefox lie's to me it LIES ! Hahaha take that Internode - CUT some reason my cable loves Ausgamers so much better. October 12, 200717 yr Going to DL this, now I have discovered Bigpond unmetered DLs. I did enjoy the COD2 SP experience for visual and immersive quality - the scripted environment was the only problem... is this new version still scripted ? October 12, 200717 yr Ahhhh 20 hour's to download ..... stupid Firefox lie's to me it LIES ! Hahaha take that Internode - CUT some reason my cable loves Ausgamers so much better. I get like 1.2mb/sec from Ausgamers. It is awesome. Does the demo have multiplayer?
October 12, 200717 yr No MP and yes the answer is yes Sandy its still scripted atleast the SP demo is annoys the crap out of me when I waste 100+ rounds as someguys who just respawn cause I missed a bloody scripting waypoint. http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/VisOne_Photo/Signatures%20and%20Banners/VisP.png
October 12, 200717 yr Oh crap another thing it looks like I'll need to spend some money on. Is it strictly ground pounding? I'm not familiar with this series to be honest so if you have the time could you describe the game to me? What is the action like? Is it fast past and bit realistic with a good mix of arcady feel for the fun factor like the BF series? Will I get to fly? Thanks in advance! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. October 12, 200717 yr Ok quick run down of the entire COD series, single player is pretty much all about a small squad of NPC who you spend most of your time with. Walking into ambush's, setting ambushes generally having a merry old time of shooting seemingly endless hundreds of germans most of the time. A number of times through you will find yourself in vehicles, jeeps, tanks even a one point manning the guns in a B-17 Flying Fortress fighting off the entire Luftwaffe or so it seems. Arguably one of the best FPS series of its time although it has a number of draw backs, linear maps, scripted fights which can take forever if you miss your waypoint and strange player animations which leave your got WTF why isn't he dead. MP often turns into yourself or your team dodging a endless amount of bullets and grenades while reading what seems like a never end fight. Which only has 2 sides the run and gun auto's verse the one shot killers and they argue which is better or who is the biggest retard. All that said its dam fun and I'm yet to regret buying any of the series although I find I have grown out of the MP side of it given the influx of 1337 pwnzor that play it. NPC - None player characters/computer controled characters COD - Call Of Duty FPS - First person shooter MP - Multi player SP - Single player Also before anyone says it I'm not having a go at anyone this is just for those that don't know what I meant. October 12, 200717 yr Yeah the whole game will be heavily scripted which will suck for replay value, The game play will be right up your ally though Smokey. Half realistic half arcady run and gun. I am pretty sure it is infantry only with possible occasional levels in a tank or heli. They are not very deep compaired to the inf action though. Though I am a fan of the original 2 CoD games, I will buy this game only if the MP doesn't suck. Most probably it will be run, jump, spam, die, respawn, rage quit. Like 90% of online shooters. Why do developers find it so difficult to break the mold and make something different?
October 12, 200717 yr Oh, I'm with you Wolf I'll get it if the MP turns out to be very strong. I have a feeling I'll be hard pressed to find something as good as PR until FH2 comes out and then not again until PR2 and FH3 mods for BF3 come out. Why can someone not make a game like PR right off the bat but with a better engine so we can finally have fast roping?!?!?!? Edit// Thanks for your post Vis. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. October 12, 200717 yr Why can someone not make a game like PR right off the bat but with a better engine maybe because most of the game-market target demographic are spotty-faced little wieners who don't give a sh*t about reality "When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite." - Winston Churchill
October 12, 200717 yr Not to start an arguement but isn't the main buyers of games now between the mid 20's and 30's? We all grew up with this stuff and it's us who have the jobs and buy this stuff up without asking for money from mommy. Isn't it time to cater to us? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. October 12, 200717 yr Most probably it will be run, jump, spam, die, respawn, rage quit. Like 90% of online shooters. Why do developers find it so difficult to break the mold and make something different? I have to say that CODUO (United Offensive expansion) was the best for multi-player as it rarely had what you described above. I still play it every now and then too. First time I loaded up COD2 it was exactly like you said, which ment an instant end of the MP aspect of that game for me. I'm hoping that COD4 is not the same in that regard.
October 12, 200717 yr The CoD series may have its share of scripted moments but to me that was one of the things that made it stand out. In No.1 they had cool moments like the russians crossing the river into Stalingrad before battling in the city. It was just like the best scenes from the film Enemy at the Gates. For me the most memorable moment of the game was when the russians stormed the reichstag? in berlin. You really got the sense that you were part of a bigger army as the tanks pounded the building while you advanced. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/teamwork1.gif
October 12, 200717 yr I just downloaded the demo. 99.99% and firefox gays out as per usual with big downloads. ****.

October 12, 200717 yr Author Back from playing through it for the 3rd time =P (come on, I spent a solid 5 hours at the library..), and I have to say again, that Infinity have done a wonderful job making the engine both fantastic-looking and not a system-hog. http://i.imgur.com/wofKY.jpg Portfolio Site http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg
October 12, 200717 yr mmm for firefox, go look for some inbuilt download managers. helps allot. Some good ones out there. The graphics arn't bad. But yes the game plays quiet fun. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a41/Porrirdge/test2.png E6600, 2GIG XMS2, 1TB RAID 0,Gigaybyte GA-P965-DQ6, Leadtek 8800GTX 768MB, X-Fi Sound Card.
October 12, 200717 yr I would have to say I like it a lot, have played the first one and thats it untill this demo, but from what some of the other people have said single player is good but MP sux, well will have to wait and see!!! http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/singapore.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpg
October 12, 200717 yr I think MP will let most people down but hey if you get you 100hrs of gaming out of it then thats all you can ask, only the really good games few and fair between that they are last longer. Then add good mod's on top and you end up where we are going man BF2 engine sucks but PR is good. October 12, 200717 yr MP is AWESOME in these series. It's nothing like PR at all, but its great fun if you are any good at it. The shotgun was awesome in COD2
October 13, 200717 yr It looks fantastic, even with my 9600XT, over 4 years old. Cool my 9600 Pro should run it to...Min specs are 9800 pro. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamahons.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp
