I meant to raise this issue a fair while back , but I must've be doing other things at the time.

 

Civilians seem to be a love-hate relationship in PR at the moment. On one hand it offers a welcome change from usual insurgent gameplay , offers a tactical edge when used properly and is otherwise fun. On the other hand , People get pissed on the opposite team seem to get pissed off from the embarrassment of being rocked (or more embarrassing death by rocks) and consequently shoot civilians on purpose.

 

I may not be an admin , but I'm still going to say it. DO NOT DO IT.

 

Maybe those of you that do it on purpose are blinded by your frustration , but try to remember that each civvie you shoot gives your team a ticket penalty. And yes that's a bad thing , not as bad as tking but similar. It's as disruptive to gameplay (and your team's chance to win) as attacking another player over the chat just because he knifed you or some petty reason.

 

Accidentally shooting a civvie that's being used as a meat shield (a valid insurgent tactic considering the unbalance IMO) is fine , after all it's mostly unavoidable. But I seriously think anyone who is shooting civvie's on purpose based on a personal petty reason needs a kick and a ban to rethink their actions and how they are affecting the game.

 

Don't like being rocked to death/sick of being tricked into a kill zone by a civvie/frustrated because you cannot reach them? : MOVE ON or find a way. The civilian's rocks lack range and aren't accurate , you can also easily dodge them , and if you get led into a trap by a civvie it's your own stupid fault. I'm honestly sick of losing out on tickets because some random has a personal vendetta on the civvie who tricked him/rocked him to death.

I don't mean to shoot them but sometimes they get in the way of my bullets. I don't like killing them purely for the time delay penalty when I die next.

If there is something to be tactically gained by killing a civvy, i will do it or instruct a squad member to do it. If they can not be reached and are giving away intel on your positions for their allah loving mates, then they have just become a combatant in my books, and i will act accordingly.

 

Just like IRL.. accept they call it the patriot act

Yeah If I am shooting the top of a building, and they just happen to walk into my bullets...Well thats their bad luck.

Secondly, once they throw a rock, they should no longer be counted as civilian, and as hostile.

ill add that its a rare occasion that it happens.. but i believe it is called for sometimes.

 

as far as i knew the rules stated this

 

"Map Specific

Civilians - Shooting civilians costs your team tickets and gives the enemy more. Stabbing them gives you intel points which further your team’s goals. Be aware you can kill them when there driving cars and you can run them down with vehicles without negative effects."

 

the tickets it might save your team in the long run can far out weigh the ticket hit it costs to take them out.

I understand solo but the point i was making is about the childish tards who repeatedly kill civs due to some bull**** personal reason.

It's the same as TKing, intentional civilian shooting is against the server rules.

I really think it's too much of a grey area and too hard to prove it's intentional for a ban to be honest.

If you can't reach them because they're on top of a building or whatever....BAD LUCK!!!

 

If you kill civi's intentionally YOU ARE WORKING AGAINST YOUR TEAM,

And while it is hard to catch ppl doing it intentionally

If I catch you doing it I will ban your sorry arse back to the stone-age.

 

It's against our server rules,

and if you break our server rules you will suffer the consequences!

 

I'm so sick of working hard to beat the opposing team,

only to have ppl kill civi's intentionally because they think they can do what they want and have all my/our hard work undone.

 

If you want to kill civi's and play the game however you feel like..........

GO TO ANOTHER SERVER!!!!!

 

Our rules are constructed to encourage ppl to play the game the way it was intended to play.......

You have also said that you can't wait to play on other servers (back home)

My suggestion is that if you intend on breaking our server rules, you do find another server to play on!

 

If you continue to encourage ppl to break our server rules you will find yourself banned from more than just our servers!

Exactly.

I think that you'll find that most of the people who do this arn't on this board. Lord knows I've popped a couple in my time but never intentionally and those who do it intentionally usually dont know or are mentally incapable of comprehending that they shouldn't do it

You have to take the good with teh bad there Ablack. It is not against the written rules. We do however frown on continual killing, and will kick and ban for groups doing it wit purpose. Though you still also help your team by killing them. You get intel points, more if you knife them too.

You team doesn't loose tickets, though the insurgent gains them. If it comes down to it and they do try and throw a rock at you, well its their stupid fault. They aren't an untouchable class. And we do not treat them as such.

 

That also goes for any Civilian player who will want to send in a report after being killed.

 

I know this is stupid but I am not going to stand for this crap about making them untouchable to everyone. They can be shot within reason, and as it stands now, they do make a game a little unbalanced since there is nothing that will really counter them except a bullet.

I don't break the rules Ablack on purpose and have only done it once which you punished me for.

 

I let you know I thought it was silly and yes I am looking forward to gaming in North America again because there is a choice of where to play if I do not like the rules. I have no problem with the rules here especially as Kindros has clarified the civy rule. I do have a problem with threats however and they are detrimental to the community spirit as far as I'm concerned.

 

The attitude of if you don't like it get out will send this mod the same way as all the other BF mods in Australia simply because if they are not happy and admin are unfriendly the option is don't play which in the end kills bD PR. I would not like that very much at all.

 

That conversation is a dead issue that you and I had almost a month ago when I even stated that you had some points about it being in the 'Spirit of the game'. I see no need to bring it up again my friend.

I have to admit I do sometimes shoot the civilians, but that is because they get in the way of live rounds. I try to encourage my section mates not to shoot the civilians for obvious reasons

 

The first casualties of Insurgents and western fire fight is innocence, and yet we are trying to win their herts and minds:(

Its always going to happen so all we can do is REDUCE it, just notify your squad not to shoot civilians.

Don't worry, I did actually agree with you when we where having that chat. It made sence and I don't just tap civies in the face anymore, at the time I didn't even know I was in the wrong.

Well we will finish this up here then fella's while there is no black and white ruling on the subject. There is this rule "Team Work - A high level of team work is expected as such you can be removed if you work against your teams goals. " the admin team trust's its members to remove problem players who are intentionally team killing civilians purely because they get a kick out of it. These type of players not only lack the maturity to follow our simple rules but also the common sense to go against out continued warnings.

 

Simply put if you are warned by a admin in game for killing civilians, you can be a 110% sure that if you continue doing so it will be followed by your removal from our servers.
