Many of you have decided to trash me without even asking me first If I actually locked the forum, and have called me childish for posting in a Locked thread.

 

Firstly I would like to clear the air, and maybe all concerned could take a step back and hop off that high horse you are on. For one, When I was typing my last posts in a two part fashion, as I had maxed out one reply, I instantly opened a second reply before the thread had actually been locked. Now if any member does know about how a forum actually works more in the way of who can post and when, My status over rides locks, and allows me to post regardless.

This was the case. When I posted my first reply the thread had become locked while I was typing away. Which also does not show you that the thread has been locked, nor alert you in any way. If you had noticed the thread was indeed locked at 10PM, and my first post placed at around 10.35PM, and second some 10mins after that.

I did not mean to do that. And did edit my first or second post down the bottom to explain this, however in usual forum form, this was ignored, and subsequently I was called childish, and now it would seem have embarrassed the Admin team even if they don't say it.

 

To Smokey and Lycett I am sorry that it happened, it was a very good conversation, and would had liked it to have continue.

I for one enjoyed reading your last post. In your own words you presented another side of a complex situation, without appearing to compete like there a was a prize for first place. Such a shame that some feel they have the right to discount others views, on this kind of subject, solely on the strength of their own life experiences.

Kindros no hard feelings at all, I enjoyed how you stood your ground as you should have done. It was an adult conversation where neither you or I threw personal insults and it's a shame that others where about to such as the seppo comment.

 

It was a good arguement and I had some good ones to trash your post as you I'm sure would have found great stuff to trash mine. I love debates.

 

EricB, no one discounted opinions based on our first hand experience. Lycett has knowledge of the actual events of the war that no one outside of the military will know. Given that he was in communications he no doubt heard things that no one outside of the room and the people doing the shooting would know. Given my military experience which granted is not of a combat status gives me an edge over how military people think and how it all works. My travels through formerly Soviet Bloc and war torn countries has also given me a unique view that unless you've been there you can never grasp.

 

It's amazing how much my personal views have changed after going over and having a look myself at places such as Belgrade. I've even been wishy washy over the current war as I don't like being lied to about WMD. Over time it's come out that makes me think it was not a deliberate whitewash and that it was simply a very, very big **** up. One so big that the US can not leave now and has to see it through or it will get so much worse than it is now.

 

Experience counts in a very major way and it's hard to understand actual events while sitting in front of a TV seeing it on the news or reading it in a book. If you read or watch something on such events on either side, pro or anti-war there is always a big bias. That's life and somewhere in the middle is the truth, even between Kindros and I there is a happy medium that will most likely work in the world. A little tough love here and there while knowing when it's time to talk over shoot.

What kindros is saying is that he didn't use his admin powers to overule/override/put in the last comment when no one else could.

It was a simple mistake.

 

 

Everyone hug and make up and save the anger for shooting each other on the battlefield. This converstation is too dangerous and gets too many people heated.

Seppo is rhymin slang for yank because it's a shortened version of septic tank and the tank part rhymes with yank.

 

I'll keep right on thinking of seppo exactly as it's intended, as an insult. I've never been abused by so many random people who think I'm American other than here in Australia. Even Europeans don't hate Americans the way you guys seem to. Seriously, I just had a run in last Tuesday night in Melbourne with some random drunk who heard me speak and decided he felt like having a broken neck.
