We are going to have a trial run with the ingame votes disabled.

This will possibly be a good idea when the server is heavily populated

but might not be so convienient with fewer players

If you need a map changed or a trouble maker removed from the game

you can contact an admin either through IRC, Teamspeak, or PM's,

All information regarding these can be found in the forums, You just have to look

I think this will be bad late at night when the serves are sparsely populated and admins have gone to bed, a map that can't be changed could kill the server.

I think it is a good idea as the voting that goes on almost never works it will stop the voting spam that happens as soon as you get a noob wanting a change

I'm up till 3am perth time every night, so get a hold of me and I could change it.

I don't have a problem with this.

 

The number of people who always start votes at the start of certain map just because they don't like it is just annoying. But as previously stated might be needed late at night unless theres a Admin to make sure the map does not kill the server off due to lack of people.

i dont really see the harm in having them enabled...

They dont take up much space on the hud

Nearly 99% of votes fail (even kick votes) when ther is more than 10 people on a server.

and when they are actually needed they work... like if someone was being a tard and needed to be kicked they could be.

if its taking up too much room just do what i do sometimes and just randomly stab at the page up/page down area of the keyboard that gets rid of the biggest part.

i am really enjoying the uncluttered hud

I say keep them removed. If the map is not working for some reason, and you cannot get an admin, organise everyone to jump to server 2/1/3. FixT.

We have alot of admins. Most of which are either watching in game, or through BF2cc.

 

If you need something you can either alt tab out and get an admin to do something via MSN, IRC or TS if you're in the game. (you'd be surprised at how many people are on TS sometimes, even just idling there by themselves incase someone does join).

 

Map votes are generally done at the start of the map, and if they fail (99% of the time they do) you see them for the next hour which is annoying.

As Daveee has stated that dicision isn't for the player to make alone they lay in the hands of the admin team so remeber friends report them, using the system we have set up.

I know it's highly unlikely but I wish they could put a voting system in that only activates with 10 tickets left or 1 min left and gives you an option to vote for the next map when the round finishes. Say, give a choice of 3 but not including the last 3 maps played. I wonder if the PR guys can fiddle that in.

I've seen such voting systems implemented in HL and HL2 but never in any of the BF franchise have you seen anything of its like before ?

Never seen just been thinking about it.

Suppose all that can be done is to look into it, although given BF2 limitations I wouldn't hold my breathe.

i say take it off the big server and leave it on the small server as some time a few friends mite want to have a small battle between them

kick votes removed because if you cant get over some one being a tard then you ether a tard your self of should not be playing internet games. or do what every one else does and gets a admin

if anyone could script in python I would dare say that they could do what you ask. It would only be a trigger event.

It's great. Perhaps for Dandred's concern - if we had a python/server guru to set it up so voting was switched off whenever an admin was in-game ? Or an admin switch to change it to being on or off in-game ?

 

However - I worked out that to find out which maps are in rotation on the server you are playing, in-game, bring up the console and type "maplist.list" and hit enter

 

Also - personally - I am in favour of the no-voting because there are too many people who abuse it. Dandred - perhaps you should be given in-game admin rights... I think you would be responsible with it... try to find an uber-admin (Jim or Darth) to brown-nose about it... I know you are on v. late usually...
