We have switched on, tweaked and fiddled with the forums Reputation system.

You will now notice a small orange icon below your avatar.

Wave you cursor over it to see your current rep.

 

At the bottom left of each post, you will see the online/offline indicator, and next to it, a picture of scales. Click on the scales to add reputation to that user.

On your own post you can click on your own scales to see your current rep points.

 

Reputation can be given as positive or negative, but beware, what goes around, comes around, so think twice before giving negative rep for no good reason.

 

Everyone starts on 10 rep points.

You can give one rep per day.

Certain factors allow you to give more than one rep per day, and also if your rep dips too low you cant give any rep out until your rep is a bit more positive.

 

You also cannot give rep to the same person twice in a row. You have to 'spread the love'..........or hate as the case may be.

    You gain rep from others giving you rep points.

    Possible reasons others may give you rep points:

    Excellent post (positive)

    Crap post (negative)

    Brown nosing (positive)

    Grudge holding (negative)

    etc, etc.

     

    Not sure how many points are required to get the next icon. Time will tell.

     

    Actual rep titles change from from 10 at 20 and then every 20 points onward.

    Ok then ... in that case I should automatically get 10 bocks a day and well 10 blocks taken away because I certainly do of those things on a daily basis.

    The best thing I can see this rep thing doing is it will give pause to people that post bitch threads and are abusive to other members. And if that is all it accomplishes it will have been well worth it.

    but thats not the point

     

    The points is if used properly you can see who is contibuting to the community and who is not.

     

    If it gets abused and use as a play thing then it will get removed, probably along with other privilages that users have.

    you get 10,000 rep points for changing an Admin's sexual orientation...
