I was on the other night and the squad leader was waiting to set a rally point calling everyone to come over.

Eventually everyone did and the moment the rally was set he did a couple of head shots into one of our squad members laying on the ground next to him.

The person over voice asked why did you team kill me.

After asking 3 times the SQL said.

Because I had to wait 10min to set a rally cause you wouldn't come to me.

Setting rally's in 0.6 is one reason I don't like being SQL but I really think his behavior was just poor.

Yes I know the name of the SQL and they are a regular...

I hope this isn't the path SQL's around here are going to take though.

Bad tactic and a big No No!!

My advice when their aren't 3 SMs in close proximity... tell your men to go attack a point, eventually they will begin to die and as they respawn tell them to wait for others.... so bada-bing! A RP can be set.

Zenning hardcore.

Please check your PM's The_Vulcan. Intentional teamkilling is something that we will not allow.

BIG Admin stick comes out.... thump....

edit=hmmmm "SL executes team member"

save yourself points and tickets and kick people instead of shooting them.

Not a good example set.

Thats what I do....

Send them off like lambs to the slaughter and then when they respawn drop a rally.

But it can get boring when they dont all die at the same time and they just run off when they re spawn.

But whats the choice.... Run in and die with them and then have to run back from home base again... Or just sit around bored until the timming of their deaths is right.

Its not always the case... You do get good squads who drop everything and run to set a rally when asked..

The worst thing is being made SL when your in the middle of nowhere without officer kit and spending the whole round hiding just being a spawn bitch for everyone...

But whats the choice....

The choices are:

KEEP idiots in your squad that won't follow orders and have an ordinary game......

OR

KICK the idiots in your squad that won't follow orders and make room for someone who will.

__________

I won't tolerate ppl not following orders and working as a team.....

If I'm SL I kick them, If I'm not SL and the SL won't kick them I'll quit the squad and join or start another one.

Team killing is NOT ACCEPTABLE at any time, in any form whatsoever.

http://www.bigdgaming.net/viewtopic.php?t=1341 - fifth post down.

Insubordination is NOT an excuse. There is NO excuse and it WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

Do not teamkill or you will be taking a holiday from our servers.

You have the right to kick anyone you want from your squad.

Please try to explain to your squaddies that you require 3 of them near you to set a rally point. Try to help them understand whats required in this mod. If they dont want to listen then kick them and invite other players. That is your alternative.

KICK the idiots in your squad that won't follow orders and make room for someone who will.

Yeah, though I don't like to bring out the stick it is just a game after all....

But I think from now on thats what I'll be doing...

Ask nice... Give Warning... Give the Boot !

I can understand the SL's frustration... He was literally calling his squad members to that location for 10 minutes. Maybe more.

On the other hand, intentional TK'ing is worse n00bish behaviour than ignoring SL orders IMO.

My solution: Server 3. I think I've managed to plug it in about 80% of my posts. It rocks! :D

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb256/navymedic85/Signature.jpg

I loled hard

I'm a sorta ramdon and end up in random squads and 50% of the

time the SL will have dramas with numbers for rally point placement.

SL and Comm are somewhat thankless roles to play

First time i went comm the other day..my team

was getting hammered

and while i wont call it abuse...there were some negative

comments, both voice and text sent my way.

no wonder we play commander less for so many games.

vulcan what you should have done is pm an admin not make a thread to bitch about it. the bitchyness latly on the forums is getting out of hand.

well thats what i reckon anyway..

http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p192/kylie67_bucket/ins-sig-1.jpg

So true.

And really, even the simplest commander or SL can formulate a strategy. All it takes is for people to LISTEN and not think 'I know better'.

Oddly enough in my early games I tried SL a few times and although I was giving the same orders as I do now (e.g. flank from the right. pull back a little and wait. set rally point.) I found that people weren't listening. This is regulars I'm talking about. Also, despite being SL I would have multiple people giving orders - which I don't mind as a new player, but if you're giving orders in my squad and I say 'XXXX do you want to take SL?' then either ACCEPT or offer ADVICE rather than ORDERS. I guess if some people just wont comply unless they recognise you....

I still wouldn't perform summary executions like the SL mentioned above though.

Just as a tertiary note, I've found the key to giving orders that get followed is to state what you want done and WHY. e.g. 'Ok it looks like Squad 2 have east city pretty much in hand, so we'll stay here and defend west city untill Squad 3 can take the next flag'. That gets a lot less argument compared to 'Defend this position.'

So true Navy, a little explanation goes a long way.

I'm guilty of giving orders while other people are SL..sometimes you just need to take control of the situation though :p

Talking about TKers, I was playing a round last week when I wandered into the red striped zone on my mini map. I get a voice message from my commander telling me that if I don't turn back I'll get shot. 5 seconds later he starts 'punishing' me and after that I'm dead.

What a jerk!

Here is a list of particularly awesome things:

dogs

sniping

very spicy chilli

cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)

Dont get me wrong, input from squad members is fine. And IMO more than welcome.

But when there's a bunch of more experienced people giving orders rather than advice in an inexperienced SL's squad - If he says 'XXX would you like to take over SL?' I see it as either step up and take control or back off a bit and let him have a go.

Advice is good. Undermining someone elses decisions is not.

Just my 2c though.

I don't see anyone here bitching about anything. (except for you !)

All I see is people talking about their experiences as Squad Leaders and offering advice about how to get the job done.

Seeing as your post is the only bitchy one here perhaps you should refrain from posting and let everyone else continue with the discussion rather than trying to take it down that road.

play nice puppy or be spanked. It was a suggestion and a good one. Rant threads aren't going to get you loved or taken seriously after a while. It is the boy who cried wolf syndrome. Don't cry wolf, Kill it.

ok i don't want to get into an arguement with you but your first post in this thread was bitching about a sl who tked on purpose

that sure sounds like a bitch to me.

If you have a problem with it you should have reported the player. That is why the report a player email is there. You shouldnt have created a thread complaining about it because it solves nothing.

all i was getting at is that the forum is getting bombarded with bitchy posts complaining all the time, THREE SERVERS ARE PROVIDED FREE. Its not like we pay to play on these servers i just think more people should be thanking the bigd admins for hosting these great servers not complaining about every god dam thing.

If he wants to bitch, let him bitch. No one is forcing you to read every post on the forum, let alone commenting on them.

Fact is, his bitching has prompted a discussion about an issue within a community of which we are all a part. In that sense, he's living up to and contributing to the exact reason for a forum to exist. He is not bitching about something meaningless, and he hasn't started a "Will my PC run Crysis?" thread, so really, his thread is fine.

No one can tell if you're POS computer can play Crysis yet!

I wear 501st tags. So you know who you owned.

Everyone thank h3ndry for getting the topic locked tonight.

You can have it back in the morning, but now its sleepy time. Don't start up another topic or you could be going on a forced forum holiday.

Fact is we're sick of all the negative bitchy threads.

Fact is we say what stays, what goes and who plays.

As admins we pretty much have to read every post on the forum to make sure nothing unsavoury is going on. So if we see something we don't like you'll know about.

If you don't like it, too bad.
