It's almost always packed, and while the teamwork is fantastic on Server 3 (my new home) I think that I wouldn't be the only one who would get great satisfaction out of occasionally playing on Server 1 in a well organised and cooperative squad - chewing up some of the randoms and spitting them out :twisted:

 

It would probably also encourage the newer players to start thinking about working together and using tactics to fight back as well as possibly showing lone-wolfs who are more interested in getting 'teh SnIp3z0r kit' than teamwork or tactics the error of their ways.

You've gotto get on the same team first, so its not always possible.

Probably an idea to just start a squad and rename it to Teamwork or something similar. That way there is no confusion as to who you want in your squad.

I'll always try and join a squad that works together.

It's a great idea in theory and has been attempted before.

 

i am finding more and more though that depending on who the squad leader, will ultimately depend on how much teamwork is used.

 

I have had many squaddies since playing 0.6 and doesn't matter which server I am on, the majority will listen and most already know what needs to be done.

 

As a SL all I do is give directions, ideas and try and stay alive as a spawn point. People know to go HAT or engineers. Medics are a thing of the past now that you can't heel yourself.

 

If your really keen on it see how it goes. But as was said, it's hard to en up on the same side.

Quite a few SL's lock their squad at the start and invite regulars they know... so this is kinda catered for - it's just up to the individual SL

That sounds like the best way to go about it. To be honest the side thing never even crossed my mind

 

I'm not very experienced as a SL - I've been playing for a grand total of three weeks - but I'm happy to give it a crack. Maybe I'll look out for TEAMWERK, FOXHOUND and 4RAR to see what the leadership styles are like and learn a bit.

Oh yeah! Sounds like a good idea, Navy. It's good to see new players stepping up. Also, now that I've come back to play a bit, don't forget to look out for my Crunts Inc squad. We're always doing the teamwork thing.

When I'm SL you'll see SMOKE as the tag I choose. Be prepared to get killed a lot with me. I attack like a crazy man.

I'll have alot of time over the next 3 or 4 weeks to play most nights so I'll try and get back into the PR side of things instead of playing other games.

Be prepared for long stints doing nothing in my squads. I like to defend, but I also like to try to anticipate the enemies' movements. Sometimes it doesn't quite work and we get stuck in the middle of no where, but generally we're pretty good at preempting enemy movements.

 

So, look out for squads such as:

 

TEAMWERK - often led by Gekko

Foxhound - Photoshop and his N!SF boys

SMOKE - Led by a crazy canuck, always throwing his men into the meatgrinder!

Crunts Inc - My squad, the last line of defence.

4RAR - AussieSniper's squad. Be prepared for formations and a good use of tactics

Crunts Inc? lol. Would your specialty be cunning stunts?

Yeah, it's sort of like 'Shock and Awe' but we just stun them and roll over the top of them .

I haven't seen any of you guys on for ages though! How are we meant to join when you're not there? Hopefully tonight in the bD vs bDc scrim though

I've not been playing as much as I just moved. I hope to get my PC set up this weekend!

There must be something wrong with me as I dont usually mind playing on server 1.

 

I do manage to attract some wankers & mostly keep my cool (except for Tuesday night when my driver reversed over me)

 

Will try custom naming a squad next time, although I usually find guys will tend to join when they see the [bDc] tag.

 

It doesnt usually take to much prompting to get some teamwork happening, I can be quite blunt with lone rangers at times.. It does get frustrating when you say "Driver STOP here" everyone out were going on foot, followed by "STOP NOW!, then "F*&^en STOP" This usually ends with the death of the entire squad thanks to a tank shell. (Sorry- I must let Tuesday night go!)

OK with me some of you know me some dont, so I tend to run 4RAR in a way of a Military theme. I yell, curse, call you all names, I can be persistent, as Aphex said I love to be tactical. Please dont think I'm picking on you if I call you a sprog stain or something :wink:

 

But I tend to be like being with the squad during a fight, so Ill be amongst the squad during the assault etc.

Military theme? In that case if you call anyone anything even slightly offensive expect to have an 'Equity & Diversity' charge. It's so bad these days that I almost got done for intentionally calling a new recruit (on his second day, the little punk) the wrong name. Even though his name-bar said XXXXXXX.

 

Uh, anyway back on topic, I'm all for it. I like the idea of trying out formations etc. The only formation you really see is the column, but thats because everyone is following either the squad leader (who shouldnt be on point) or the guy on point. I think a lot of the time a line or staggered line would be more appropriate. Look forward to trying it out

If they dont like being called names well I replace them with someone better.

 

Alot of the players on the forum have been trained in a way off proper Aus Army Grunt tactics that my dad taught me. Tactics such as Staggered File, Single file, Arrow Head formation and extended line have been taught so if you call one of the formations to anybody on the forum they will automatically know what you are requesting and get there ass into the formation.

 

 

My 4RAR Squad:

 

1 Saw Gunner.

2 Dedicated medics.

1 Rifleman.

1 Engineer.

+ me = Squad Leader.

You tried to teach me, but I wasn't really paying attention so I just pretend I know what you're talking about and follow what everyone else does

 

Snipe also executes people which is funny except when I was new and he shot me....

 

wouldnt like to see this happen again. Kick from the squad as an intentional TK may see you taking a vacation to other servers for a while.
